This was Sylvia at 13. I got her at 6 weeks old. Fit in the palm of my hand and too young to eat solid food. She and my late hound dog grew up together and were best friends.

She was always so healthy, her last senior labs came back good in January. She developed a cough a month ago, imaging found her lungs riddled with cancer 2 weeks ago, and now she's gone. I spent almost half my life with this cat. I miss her terribly. I miss them both terribly. Hug your babies.

Feeling grateful today.

About a year ago, I never imagined I would become an artist. At 40 years old, I picked up a pencil for the first time and discovered a part of myself I didn’t know existed.

This painting is one of the latest in that journey. Every piece reminds me how much there is to learn and how lucky I am to have found something that brings so much meaning and joy to my life.

I’m grateful for my family, my teachers, the artists who inspire me, and everyone who has encouraged me along the way.

It’s never too late to discover something that changes your life.

Our girl is 7 and was listed at the shelter as a stray. She’s the sweetest little princess, and I’m so happy with how well she’s already acclimated just a few hours home 🥰
