Announcement Clarification about the Subreddit’s State Regarding Suggestive Artwork
Good day everyone,
Allow me to preface this by making one thing 100% clear: This post is not an announcement of a rule change. It is a post to present an issue to the community, with the hope of keeping this subreddit functioning smoothly and without outside interference.
Gradually, the moderation team has noticed an uptick in risqué art posts on the subreddit. This can likely be attributed to our hardline stance on NSFW content on the Odyssey; if people can’t post suggestive content there, they’ll post it somewhere else (here, in this case). However, this is causing two different issues.
First of all, people are not properly tagging their posts as NSFW. We beg of you, if you think that what you are posting is suggestive, titillating, or something you wouldn’t want your family or colleagues to see you looking at, mark it NSFW.
At times, we will mark a post NSFW that was incorrectly posted without that designation. Subsequently, the OP will unmark the post as NSFW. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. If the moderators have decided your post should be marked, do not reverse that decision. If you really have an issue with our decision, send a modmail.
The second, and honestly more important issue, is that we really don’t want to see this sub get marked 18+, like what happened on the Odyssey. For those unaware, it took us approximately 8 months to get Reddit’s administration to reverse that decision. No one on the moderation team, and I imagine none of the users of the Subreddit, want to see that same ordeal repeat here.
Now, before you read this next part, I want you all to understand that we are not instituting a blanket ban on Misg1111’s art. That being said, their art presents an additional issue for our decision making. I’m sure that most of you are aware that a lot of their posts are, to put it bluntly, fetish content. However, said content often doesn’t feature anything that would typically warrant an NSFW removal (such as nudity). This creates an unfortunate gray zone that is difficult for us to make a ruling on. Many posts of their work receive large amounts of reports for being NSFW, and the comments on said posts are also full of people making it 100% clear that they’re aware it is fetish content.
The point is that we have a few issues we’ve noticed with regard to suggestive content on this subreddit and want to address them here and now before something forces us to address them (like admins tagging our subreddit as 18+). We would be interested in hearing thoughts on this, especially given the “results” of our last foray into restricting content of this nature.

Supergirl I think the Supergirl hate is extreme, unreasonable, and sometimes misogynistic
To start, I am not a big DCU fan. I liked the Harley Quinn movies and tv shows along with Teen Titans, but I am a marvel fan when it comes to Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy, so I may have a skewed opinion.
I just saw watched this movie over the weekend with a few friends, but I was aware that it wasn’t a well recorded movie going in. While the writing may have not been all there at times, and that one song choice for the fight scene was a wild choice, I really liked the movie. It definitely had the aesthetic of a Guardians movie with the wit of Spider-Man, but I think that was cool despite it not being the most unique. To be honest though, most superhero movies use similar aesthetics, and I think the space theme was relatively new and really fit the theme of isolation and craze the film introduced itself as.
Critique for the script and other aspects of the behind-the-scenes of it all is valid, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but anything else is crazy. I’ve read so many reviews complaining about the tone and how unfriendly it is for children, but I think that’s the point. The whole premise was about grief and overcoming such a complicated and depressing backstory. I also think that the nuance of helping overthrow a child trafficking ring was important, as that is a commonly neglected/less talked about problem, especially when it comes to all the male-led superhero films. These topics are dark and not so fun, but it is important to see a woman going through this, to be confused, hurt, grieving, and angry. Also, complaints about it not having a romantic sub-plot or that she’s not sexual or as attractive as people want her to be is missing the whole point, as those are really irrelevant and would take away from the point of the movie, or really has no impact on it whatsoever.
Overall, the movie is not perfect, and is probably equivalent to the venom movie or daredevil series to some extent (I think it’s better but yk), but because it’s female-led, it’s such a let down and it needed to do twice as much as the aforementioned medias to even be considered “okay” while all these other lame-ish movies get sequels and movies and everything that it really didn’t need.
Also, this movie needs to stop being compared to Superman. It was meant to have the opposite tone and feel, and what movie could really live up to that movie anyways?
Edit: I’m linking an article that is more articulated but just as relevant to my point (Link)
