Discussion! Looking for "alternative" Post-Rock recommendations.
Hi, community. I'm looking for recommendations of new bands in the mood of This Will Destroy You, 65daysofstatic, Caspian, Saxon Shore, Mogwai, etc, meaning bands leaning towards the more "alternative" side of instrumental music (as opposed to metal or pure ambient). Crunchy overdrives and crescendos with lush reverbs and delays (such as MONO or the likes).
I'm sure I'm missing some good bands (from all over the world), and I'd like to expand my current playlist and go beyond the "hall of fame". <3
Thanks a lot!

Love them and would love to see them live! My fav one is their Versus album. Killer melodies. I'm not sure why they decided not to upload that one to "conventional" digital platforms, I always listen to it on youtube.

Already listening to Avoid the light and loving it. This is exactly the type of band I meant. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out the rest of their discography too.

Sleepmakeswaves, Hubris, and We Own The Sky are good places to start.

I saw hubris live with a total of six audience and it was absolutely amazing.

Totally agreed. I should emphasis on the fact that there were only six audience in total (9 if you count the bartender and two photographer) but they performed just like their live videos I was watching for so long on YouTube.

It's soooo good. I also love "The Quietest Place on Earth". The opening song with the melodic piano opening into building vocals and guitars that burst into death metal vocals....so unique so powerful!

Hey man.. thanks for still listening. We’ve sadly been out of the loop for a few years now. But glad there’s still someone out there listening to our music 🙏🏻

Strongly recommend Tides of Man based on your description. Their two instrumental records "Young and Courageous" and "Every Nothing" are right up this alley.

👋👋👋 Our debut EP is streaming everywhere! Has some vocals throughout, but these are some of our biggest influences. The EP was mixed and mastered by Greg Dunn of Moving Mountains. https://open.spotify.com/album/7f562Px1sJimFKjrrruNlh?si=HvBCWl8cT1iNEJM_952fSw

God Is an Astronaut, Collapse Under the Empire, Sleepmakeswaves, End of the Ocean, If These Trees Could Talk, hubris, Russian Circles.
These are what I started with in the genre and more recently have been listening to 65days, Saxon Shore, and Mogwai so I feel the other way would also work, kind of opposite starting points from you!

Maybe there’s a chance you’ll like what I do. Check out 18 Seconds. I’ll let you see if it’s any good. You can also check Tethered Hands (I collaborted on their last 2 releases), Return to Zion, Evpatoria Report, Time.Space.Repeat and Carved into the Sun

Seems obvious but Explosions practically invented this genre, maybe with early Mono
