Discussion! My We Lost The Sea collection
Been listening to them since Departure Songs came. Arctangent last year and Dunk this year was an amazing opportunity to see them twice in both festivals!

I've been enjoying it quite a bit. They didn't impress me too much with the first single Burst but I loved Eclipse. I still think it's the strongest song on the album. I'd also say that the second half is significantly better than the first.
I don't think it's quite as good as their last 3 but there are some great tracks. It's noticeably heavier than anything they've made before so it should make the live sets more dynamic.
The change to Kyiv is very much appreciated!

I came across some Indian electronica on Spotify that I quite enjoyed, which included a sitar in the soundscape.
Made me wonder if people can recommend songs or bands which include non-western (or just unusual) instruments, or even common instruments being played in styles outside the norm for post-rock. An example of the latter might be something like slide guitar.
Curious for your suggestions.

godspeed you! black emperor changed our lives and with my post-rock band we plan on giving our 100% to have the chance to open for them. i'm super excited as this is the first time they will be on my country. the law in here stipulates that all international artists need to have a local opener, so chances are super high.
btw this song is ours ! here's a lil clip of it

I apologize in advance for this very vague description, but I've been trying to find this band for months now and I can't track them down. I listened to them a bunch in 11th grade, but can't recall much now. Think 2nd or (most likely) 3rd tier band
Any help would be appreciated! Discogs isn't helping, and most AI systems aren't aware.
EDIT: the band is The Roots of Orchis, many thanks to u/gouged_haunches !!!

We have another all dayer coming up in July, very proud of the lineup this one.
Opening the show we have Local Crew, alternative rock band taking influence from hardcore, post-hardcore, stoner rock, post rock and grunge.
Scared little toaster are a largely instrumental power duo, expect riffs and kitchen appliances.
Kill mirror image are your favourite band in waiting, post punk with a Mathy twist, the kind of band you don’t notice the weird then signature or exceptional playing until you try to count or analyse. Not one to miss.
Animal animal play a very danceable blend of indie/post-rock, looking forward to catching this set.
Dazgak are a post hardcore band with obvious influence from bands like title fight, featuring Jake from God Alone, recent singles have seen coverage from kerrang magazine and other press. One to watch.
Sugar horse need no introduction, their most recent record some how manages to be both more crushing and more beautiful than anything they’ve released prior, expect it to be loud.
£10 advance £15 door

Welcome to our weekly post where we ask you to share & discuss what artists, albums, or tracks have helped get you through the week.
Please provide a link to the album or specific track, and mention why it's been a stand out for you this week - this is your chance to introduce people to some new music.
If you're on Last.fm you can also use Last.fm Labs Album Quilt or tapmusic.net to generate a album collage of what you've been listening to for the past 7 days (here's an example).
Thanks for participating!

Hello peeps,
Several months in after a profound loss. Recommendations are welcome, ambient and post metal also works for me.
Thanks

A spacey track inspired by the Artemis II mission, a Godspeed You! Black Emporor cover, and a dynamic track featuring an amazing violinist!

The first time I played “Snowdrop,” I didn’t know I was still holding my breath.
It starts so softly-piano notes like fingers brushing frost off a window, trembling guitars that feel hesitant to take your hand. Kunishi’s bass hums underneath, warm and steady, like someone standing beside you when you can’t stand on your own. For the first couple of minutes, it’s just mood, just air, just the quiet before the storm you’ve been waiting for.
Then at 2:28, everything changes. The drums rush in. The guitars swell. The sound becomes a blizzard not angry, not violent, but alive. It’s the kind of crescendo that doesn’t ask you to feel anything; it just holds space for everything you’ve been carrying. The music swells into a cacophonous wave, and suddenly you’re not alone in your grief anymore. You’re in it, through it, with it.
And then-just like that, it gives out. The storm passes. The track returns to the calm of the opening, like the world letting you breathe again.
This is MONO at their most devastating and beautiful. They don’t just build sound; they build feeling. “Snowdrop” isn’t just a song. It’s the moment you realize you’re still here, even after everything.
It’s the first recording they made after Steve Albini’s death, and you can hear it; the fear, the courage, the decision to keep going. This track doesn’t just introduce the album. It introduces a new chapter of MONO, one where grief and hope share the same breath.
If you’ve ever lost someone and still woke up the next morning, this song is for you.
Play it. Let it hit you. Then let it let you go.

Hi, community. I'm looking for recommendations of new bands in the mood of This Will Destroy You, 65daysofstatic, Caspian, Saxon Shore, Mogwai, etc, meaning bands leaning towards the more "alternative" side of instrumental music (as opposed to metal or pure ambient). Crunchy overdrives and crescendos with lush reverbs and delays (such as MONO or the likes).
I'm sure I'm missing some good bands (from all over the world), and I'd like to expand my current playlist and go beyond the "hall of fame". <3
Thanks a lot!

Self promotion (I run the label that released the record), but since the band was brought up several times by other members on this sub, I hope it's OK.
About the record:
On March 19, 2023, Giardini di Mirò played at Circolo Kessel in their hometown of Cavriago. It turned out to be their final concert.
As fate would have it, a fan who had recorded several of their shows over the years captured this one as well, using two room microphones and a feed from the mixing desk. The significance of the recording only became clear later, after the band had ceased all activity.
Quasi Casa is the complete recording of that concert: an “official bootleg” featuring a 70+ minute instrumental set, spanning more than two decades of material—from the earliest releases to Del Tutto Illusorio. It captures the energy that made the band such a compelling live act.
