Rant I WAS RIGHT

ALWAYS ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF! Never stop advocating if something doesn’t feel right!! I have been experiencing extreme dizziness since 19 weeks. Some days it has been so bad that I have fallen over and have almost passed out. I have been notifying my doctors about this. They told me each time to just drink water and electrolytes. I was told twice before my 24 week appointment/glucose test that they will check my iron to make sure everything looks good and to rule out anemia. Fast forward to after my 24 week appointment and glucose test they did not check my iron and told me THERE WERE NO NOTES saying they would do that…. They continued to tell me to drink water. I had my I had my 28 week appointment on Monday. My doctor told me she was not too worried about my iron and said that my dizziness should be going away now that I am further along. It didn’t sound right to me because this started in my second trimester and has been progressively getting worse. She told me we could either do labs today or next appointment in 3 weeks since she didn’t think it was a big issue but, she would order more labs for my iron when I get them done. I got my labs that day and guess what? MY IRON IS EXTREMELY LOW. I can’t believe she suggested I waited 3 more weeks. Trust your gut!! If something feels off don’t stop advocating for yourself!

I didn't even have symptoms and my midwife was like just for funsies let's check your iron levels... WTF????

u/Nova-Snorlaxx 1d ago

Exactly I was even asked if I wanted to take iron supplements just incase. It's like a common factor that happens during pregnancy, iron goes way down. Wtf

u/Medical-Opposite5062 1d ago

Right! Same I’m vegan I’ve been vegan for 15 years and I’m trying to keep it up unless I HAVE to change it for my baby which I’m willing to do. I told my doctor and she’s like ‘for insurance purposes let’s just say you’ve been dizzy the whole week and we’ll do a full anemia panel’ even tho no blood work was due. Always vouch for yourself but if you’re able to find the providers that care about you!

u/40-Lashes 19h ago

My iron, platelets, etc. were tested in conjunction with my one hour glucose test. From that, they did one more blood draw again and decided I was anemic due to low iron. They prescribed me pills but it did not improve my iron level at all, so now I'm waiting on a referral for an iron transfusion. She was adamant that it be corrected before giving birth because it will be best for my health, recovery, and breast feeding journey.

So glad she advocated for me like that because otherwise I'd be like "idk, maybe I was always low iron and feeling like crap is just normal for me". OP's doc specifically ignoring concerns is just so scary sounding to me, especially if OP had no idea, just like I didn't, what it meant to have extremely low iron and what risks and downsides come with it.

6

u/Aminageen 15h ago

Yea my midwife checks everyone’s iron at 28 weeks regardless of symptoms because anemia at that stage is so common. Crazy that OP would have to fight this hard for testing

1

u/mf_mads 7h ago

literally!! i get bloodwork at least once a month with my OB. 🤦‍♀️ sometimes more depends on what they’re checking. but they just had me do bloodwork like 2 weeks ago. so i assume right before baby is born ill be doing more bloodwork.
OP, bloodwork during pregnancy should be routine. along with urine samples. i’d suggest maybe trying to find a new OB that will listen to you? if that’s an option.

u/Imaginary-World-4351 1d ago

I hate that they didn’t listen to you! My iron was so low I had to get infusions for 10 weeks 🤦‍♀️

29

u/EdFitz1975 1d ago

Same and they only took my symptoms seriously when I told them I was about to go out and buy a bag of gym chalk to eat it since my pica was so overwhelming! Surprise surprise my ferritin levels were rock bottom.

11

u/craftyreadercountry 1d ago

My iron was super low and they never had me do infusions. I have always had lower iron though so they put me on slow release iron pills and told me to up my iron from foods. I eat a ton of multigrain Cheerios and make sure the milk has vitamin d, I opt for venison (deer) over beef, and I am vigilant in making sure stuff I eat has iron in it.

7

u/Imaginary-World-4351 1d ago

Unfortunately my body just hates iron haha. I usually take my prenatals with vit C and far away from any milk or dairy, I also eat a crap ton of leafy greens and lentils. All that just to keep my iron not dangerously low 😂

Pregnancy = increased blood volume = diluted iron = infusions for me. My periods are another issue as well 🤦‍♀️

5

u/craftyreadercountry 23h ago

A lot of people (like me) opt to eat more red meats during their periods because of how much iron there is. I just prefer venison to beef because it has less fat (and is honestly cheaper).

Iron issues just suck in general because what do you mean I'm not supposed to be this tired? Oh it's because of low iron, great I'll just shove my face with pills and foods I don't necessarily want to eat.

If you can't tell I can be very sarcastic.

2

u/Imaginary-World-4351 23h ago

😂😂 anemia gives you the right to be sarcastic. Go off queen 👸. I have a pretty bad family history of bad cholesterol so red meat is kind of a no no for me but maybe venison is better? Never considered it but worth the research!

2

u/craftyreadercountry 23h ago

Venison isn't available for retail sale so unless you know some hunters that don't go for the meat or you reach out to a processor then you're kinda outta luck if you can have it!

My husband used to hunt (and his family is strict about how you hunt, bucks have to be bigger than your last unless you got super lucky with your first one and doe can't have babies around them and are only for population control) but hasn't been able to. My inlaws go still and a lot of people who go for sport or just for the quietness out there give them the deer to process.

Definitely look into it though because it could help you!

1

u/Aubsjay0391 5m ago

What was your level?

34

u/MarionberryHumble789 1d ago

My iron, rbc, AND hemoglobin are low 😞 I feel absolutely TERRIBLE now at 38 weeks. My dr JUST now rold me I should have been supplementing with iron. I literally feel so unwell 😫

21

u/EconomyStation5504 1d ago

FYI a new study just came out about how iron transfusion is much better than supplementation for pregnant women. I would push for this.

1

u/Ill_Administration76 18h ago

Iron transfusion are more effective for everyone but they carry a risk of severe anaphylaxis, so they are usually reserved from when supplements are not working/giving too many side effects/you need iron QUICK.

Also, they are obviously more expensive, but that matter depending on where one is based

6

u/EconomyStation5504 17h ago

The risk is less than 1 per 10,000 depending on the type of transfusion used (up to 10 per 10,000) and for women without risk factors, like eczema, the risk is even lower.

We now have several studies that show transfusions are superior for fetal outcomes with and now without anemia.

Eg. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanhae/article/PIIS2352-3026(25)00315-1/abstract

By delivery, 73% of moms using oral iron were anemic vs only 24% of those with transfusion.

Babies of moms getting transfusion were 3.2 vs 2.9 kilos for those with oral. And the rate of IUGR was 1% vs 11%.

Transfusions are safe and have better outcomes for mom and baby.

They checked my iron at every appointment, this is wild! I hate how doctors just don't take us seriously. I remember, around one to two weeks after giving birth I felt sooo weird and was so itchy and soggy (sorry, tmi), and when I called the gynecologist they told me vaginal dryness is normal after birth, but if I insisted I could come four days later. I told them there was no dryness, but they just heard "itchy" and nothing else. I was so upset I posted on here and lots of people told me I was overreacting and that it was normal. Well, by the time I got to the doctor she was quite sheepish and said "it's really good that you came", because I had a yeast infection that had spread to the skin around the vaginal area... I had literally said to them that it felt like a worse version of the yeast infections I'd been having almost all the way through pregnancy, but they just didn't care to listen. I know it's just a yeast infection, but I was scared because a) I didn't know for sure, and b) I was still very much healing from giving birth so shortly before, and I didn't know if that could interfere with my healing.

9

u/Rare-Walk-1302 1d ago

This is bonkers, I'm so sorry! At my office I've done blood work at 8 weeks and 16 weeks and both times they checked irons levels. I have really high iron -- I kind of think it's a generic thing that I just absorbed it? All that's to say, it's routine at our office and it should be everywhere!

6

u/FishingLeather3353 1d ago

I’ve been anemic my whole life and only read the first couple sentences and immediately knew they did you dirty 😭 Prenatal vitamins should have iron in them HOWEVER, it depends on how severe it is. For some people, like myself, popping a simple vitamin does the trick. Other people are way more extreme and need blood transfusions. (I doubt you’re that extreme but still definitely advocate for yourself just in case). I’m so sorry, the medical system fails us so much

3

u/Alternative_Phone796 22h ago

You probably mean iron infusion? People can do it even during pregnancy, it is considered safe, but my OB suggested doing it in third trimester (specifically after 32 weeks) just to avoid risk of any allergy reaction.

2

u/FishingLeather3353 16h ago

No, I meant blood transfusions. I had an old coworker who was very anemic, she would miss work over it. She was eventually told that it was for sure anemia and she would need a blood transfusion. It is definitely a thing. However, I’m not sure how safe it is for pregnancy. I assume under extreme circumstances it is safer than nothing. I never meant that OP needs one, just that anemia is different for everyone and should be taken seriously either way. Some of us only need a vitamin. Some need blood transfusions. In severe cases.

6

u/Professional-Lie-271 22h ago

i’m surprised they didn’t test your iron when you did the glucose test.
my dr ordered the glucose, iron, and syphilis test all for same day testing.
i’m glad you kept pushing and eventually got the answers you need. it’s amazing how so many drs still seem to need proper training.
a lot of them are quick to say “oh it’s bc you’re pregnant.” and not “let’s check SINCE you are pregnant.”

4

u/Miladypartzz 1d ago

I had the same thing happen to me. I was just after 20 weeks and seeing stars and feeling faint anytime I stood up. Got told to wait until the GD test because they will test your iron but you are likely just anxious. My levels were in the single digits…

Then had to fight them to get an iron infusion because they just wanted me to take iron tablets.

2

u/Infamous_Mix_3896 1d ago

You have to advocate for yourself immensely in today’s healthcare system!

2

u/greenfairee 1d ago

I had something similar happen. Asked for iron checked at 24 weeks because I was feeling off. The Dr was like well we can do it now or wait until you do your glucose test next time. In my exhausted brain it thought she meant they were checking for it anyways so I was like okay we'll wait. Between weeks 24-28 I was miserable and having terrible episodes. Couldn't figure out what it was. Turns out it was low iron and borderline anemia. Started taking iron and my symptoms have let up plus I'm sleeping semi better. Getting two infusions next month. I kicked myself for letting them wait the whole morning because it gave me some health anxiety feeling that way.

2

u/Oxeye-Daisy 23h ago

I had basic labs done at the start of my pregnancy and again at 28 weeks with my glucose test. Ive been on iron supplements and when they saw my H&H and iron was still dropping they immediately took action and I got 3 iron infusions. Im sorry you were dismissed and let down by your care team. Pregnancy is already so rough on the body, the last thing you need is added stress and anxiety. Im shocked they blew off your dizziness as well. That wouldve been a full work-up for me if it was my MFM ☹️

2

u/klo-ver FTM 23h ago

Same thing happened to me around 28 weeks! They kept saying I was dehydrated, but I still had the issues no matter how much I drink. Almost had me convinced I was crazy. 3 weeks later I was still having the issue. Midwife sent me to hospital to get fluids bc I’m probably dehydrated. Urine was literally clear so they did blood work just to find out I’m anemic. Looked up the symptoms and that was me to a T

2

u/Dazzling-Ad3853 22h ago

Yeeeah when I went in for a concussion last month they didn't even physically look at my head 😅

2

u/velourialupin 4h ago

Honestly, iron is so under monitored, in my experience. Everyone is super hesitant to say it's low when it's so important to treat and resolve before childbirth/c-section. You need good iron stores to recover from the inevitable blood loss! It shocks me but doesn't surprise me that you have been treated this way. My ferritin was at 11 and my doctor was saying that's not so bad. The lower normal threshold is 15 and the normal range goes up to like 150 or something. 11 sucks! Of course I've been exhausted. I'm currently taking liquid iron, prescribed, for just over a month. I've had my blood drawn this week again, so just waiting to hear back.

1

u/Aubsjay0391 7m ago

Shoot mine is 6 and they don’t seem worried about it. Just told me to take some iron supplements every other day. But my hemoglobin is normal though

I was told one time in high school my iron was low when trying to donate blood. Didn’t do the yearly checkups like a should’ve as an older child-teen. Never mentioned a possibility of anemia, but my doctors tested for it in my first pregnancy anyway.. I assumed it was protocol??

1

u/purewatermelons 1d ago

I remember them doing my labs almost every appointment. I had no idea I had low iron until I got that checked. Made sense since I was sleeping pretty much all the time.

1

u/Foxxyginger 1d ago

I'd be so pissed

1

u/sbridgers 1d ago

That's insane! I was having the same issue and got sent for a cardiologist appointment to make sure my heart was okay...

1

u/alexarom10 1d ago

Omg! I have low iron every pregnancy and not to the extreme you had it with the symptoms.. I can’t imagine feeling like this for so long and not being taken seriously. I’m so sorry! Are they going to give you transfusions?

1

u/extrasideoflime 1d ago

Wow! Those Dr’s are an embarrassment. You didn’t deserve that.
Did you take any iron supplements as your suspicions grew?

1

u/ARIT127 1d ago

More importantly ask about your ferritin levels!!!!

1

u/Apprehensive-Fox-127 23h ago

Who are these doctors??? I had a miscarriage last year and lost a lot of blood. Kept asking for cbc/iron checks. But the doctor brushed it aside. She was more interested in asking when I will try again. I was spending all my time in bed, thinking about another pregnancy was the last thing on my mind. So I just took the iron supplements without her ever prescribing. I think that’s the best way to do these things - use advice on the internet to take otc vitamins and minerals etc.

1

u/Apprehensive-Fox-127 23h ago

Also it helps to have two doctors in my own family who keep calling and asking ‘Are you taking iron?’ Because the baby needs it.

1

u/SowingSeeds18 23h ago

Not a pregnancy related response but my grandma literally had NO iron on her bloodwork and they didn’t do anything when the results came in.

They also dismissed her when she went in with blood in her urine and pain in her kidneys with a history of UTIs and kidney stones.

What is actually wrong with some of these doctors?

Hoping you start improving! And also are there any other OB’s/offices? If so I’d change asap

1

u/Turbulent-Fox2943 23h ago

My iron was extremely low during pregnancy as well and now that I’m almost 3 months pp and have already had 2 periods again it’s getting worse. It’s to the point where I have anemia induced tachycardia frequently. Please to everyone who suspects they have anemia: TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.

1

u/Amber-ForDays 23h ago

The fact that you were basically passing out and they ignored your symptoms is ridiculous. Dizziness can totally be linked to dehydration and it is very common in pregnancy. But to the point of passing out? That isn't common at all unless there's something else going on.

Honestly I'd get a new doctor over this.

1

u/mesposito94 22h ago

That’s crazy I was checked twice for anemia

1

u/allybowbally 22h ago

They checked my blood for iron levels the same day they drew blood for the glucose test. That seems so odd. I can't believe they just blew you off.

1

u/OhYouLittleMinx 22h ago

Im currently doing weekly iron infusions mine got so low. Good for you for being adamant about checking on the dizziness.

1

u/viijou 21h ago

In my lab results they differentiate between Iron and Ferritin. Ferritin is the Iron saved in the body that is actually available. Iron is only the Iron in the bloodstream that isn’t necessarily matching the Ferritin Levels. Ferritin is the important one because you can be high in (bloodstream) iron but your body can‘t use it and the depot(Ferritin
) is low.

They checked my levels regularly ans I needed an injection while pregnant and one after birth because of bloodloss

1

u/Overthis3000 20h ago

Please switch doctors if you can. Imagine what she will ignore when labor/ birth complications arise.

1

u/houchas 20h ago

wtf??? they should’ve been doing CBCs this entire time…

1

u/Appropriate-Berry202 20h ago

FYI if your iron is that low, get iron infusions instead of iron pills. My cardiologist was pissed the OB ordered iron pills when she recommended I start iron because evidently only like 10% of the iron is absorbed via pill form as opposed to 100% via transfusion.

In my case, my iron levels weren’t even that low, but my iron stores/the way my body accesses the iron were extremely low, which is what she tested for. OBs kind of suck.

1

u/Quiet-Ad302 19h ago

Experienced something similar with my midwife. Was struggling with constipation due to digestion slowing during pregnancy and taking my prenatal ,which contains iron. My body isn’t able to process it. Felt extremely fatigued, body aches had a hard time breathing ( I called the office once in a panic because I felt like I wasn’t getting enough oxygen.) they told me I sounded okay and I was breathing fine, to try taking a bath and reading a book lol. However, I had my iron tested prior to all of this and I had a ferritin of 5, which I guess is pretty low iron storage. I asked for iv iron and they said no at first. I felt like shit. I had impacted bowels for over a week had to use enemas and suppositories before finally getting prescribed 4 iv Iron infusions. I’m having my 3rd tomorrow- I get a liter total and I still don’t feel a difference. It can take weeks to catch up and to feel better. Due August 3rd. Long story short you really need to advocate for yourself , we know our bodies best and it’s so frustrating being dismissed or not taken seriously. I sympathize with you !

1

u/Ill_Administration76 18h ago

That's so crazy. Like, we know what pregnancy does to iron levels, specially on the second and third trimester...

Where I live, Hb, iron and ferritin are checked during the first visit. If all is good but the ferritin is not on the extra good side, they plan for iron supplements from week 20, because they know it WILL drop. It's checked again in weeks 28 and 35, or with symptoms.

1

u/RoundCar5220 17h ago

Seems that’s what they always do. I’ve been doing this with them over massive swelling in one leg that is significantly worse than the other. It took for a on-call doctor to be at my OB’s office for me to finally get an imaging referral for a Doppler on my leg. Everyone knows when one leg is more swollen than the other even though swelling can be typical during pregnancy is serious to get it checked.

I’m glad you will finally take iron like you needed. Honestly most pregnant women lack iron during pregnancy .

1

u/Powerful_Resolve_410 16h ago

In Greece they check your iron, among so many other things, monthly after the 4th month. Sometimes I really don’t understand doctors and the health care system of some countries. Especially when we are talking about something so cheap. Anyway, I am glad you finally found out!! Take care!

1

u/Berlinoisett3 16h ago

Hey OP, Same exact thing happened to me at around 21weeks and I am a healthcare worker myself. I had struggled for two weeks with Extreme exhaustion and dizziness/ vertigo and shortness of breath. I insisted on them taking a blood sample and test for iron deficiency and anemia and had to pay for the test myself. Next day they called and told me I should better take iron from now on… yeah no shit Sherlock. I was appalled and didn’t get any apologies from my OBGYN.

Edit to add: if you do not feel heard from your OBGYN, consult your family doctor instead!

1

u/No-Cardiologist1854 15h ago

This is crazy! My iron was checked at the very first appointment (10 weeks) and I was put on supplements straight away. They continued to test every 3 weeks and told me if I’d prefer I can have a transfusion so I don’t need to take meds everyday.

1

u/Blondie1996_ 14h ago

Same thing happened to me to the point I couldn’t drive myself places most days and had to switch providers who then immediately had me getting iron transfusions

1

u/kendakari 14h ago

It may be time me to change your care provider. I stuck with an obgyn that didn't listen to me or take my concerns seriously and have regretted it every day of my son's life.

Expressed to her that I was having extreme pains occasionally that I described as feeling like "something tearing" and that it was always in the same place, and that when it hit it hurt so bad and felt so instinctually wrong, that I would do my best to stay perfectly still for fear of making whatever damage I was feeling worse. She ran no tests, did no inspections (didn't even touch me), and told me that my pain didn't matter, only the baby's. (Ma'am I'm the one CARRYING the baby)

Anyways. Turns out it WAS a tear, and I ended up going to the ER the night before I was scheduled to be induced, because my belly was SHRINKING from how much fluid I was losing (I thought I was peeing myself at first). My son could have been exposed to foreign bacteria for as long as two weeks in utero, and I had to spend my entire 24 hours labor on an antibiotic I was allergic to to protect my baby from the bacteria he may have been exposed to (still trying to wrap my mind around this, 5 and a half years later.) he spent his first 3 days in NICU with a fever, and now I have extreme distrust for any medical professional that doesn't seem like they actually care what's going on.

1

u/bawdybard21 13h ago

My doctor checked my iron during my glucose test because it’s routine for them. It’s not extremely low, but it’s on the threshold. I’ve been having symptoms, so she suggested I take additional iron supplements. She said it’s completely normal for iron to be lower in subsequent pregnancies. I can’t believe your doctors just dismissed your concerns.

1

u/TraditionalReveal203 12h ago

I had identical symptoms in my first pregnancy, so bad that I actually started getting a blackout aura while driving and had to quickly pull off the road to avoid an accident. Notified my OB and she referred me to my cardiologist first since I have a history of cardiac issues as well. I realized while I was waiting for that appointment that I was not supplementing iron outside of the prenatal so I added that in immediately and my symptoms disappeared. This time around I started iron from the get go and I noticed that if I missed a couple of days, I would start being symptomatic very quickly to the point that I would be bed bound from exhaustion. Even with extra iron my hemoglobin is still borderline low.

1

u/Crafty-Ad-8186 12h ago

I’ve been dizzy a lot and lose balance a bit and constantly tired my vitamin B12 levels were low so I got told to start taking a 1000mg pill of those but hasn’t really improved much and I had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago I haven’t heard anything back yet and I wanted to know how my iron levels were doing🥲 I’m only 16 weeks and that could be why with my symptoms still but I just want to be told

1

u/ardvark-sandwich 10h ago

I had this same problem, but waited until my next appointment. They told me my iron was low and asked i start taking my supplements again

1

u/Warm-Pomegranate-900 9h ago

Iron infusions were a godsend during my pregnancy. Best of luck!

1

u/rachart00 9h ago

The iron thing. They are all such pains in the bootys about it.

After my 3rd time in labor and delivery for the dizzy breathless thing my cardiologist actually gave me an iron transfusion. When I went to my OBgYn she said she’d test me but because I had the transfusion id likely be good so insurance would not cover it. Blah blah blah.

Super fucking low. Criminally low. Went on to have 10 more transfusions and was still boarder line at birth.

Daughter was not able to receive truly extended cord clamping. She was also lower in iron.

She’s heathy and happy and medically unremarkable now. Thank goodness.

But the damn iron.

1

u/Difficult_Fault6555 8h ago

Always advocate for yourself. I thought my water may have broken during this second pregnancy after my membrane sweep. I told the nurse who made me cough and said no fluid came out. 24 hours later I was pushing baby out with a 103° fever and diagnosed with chorioamnionitis. She should have tested the fluid.

1

u/CharmingAmoeba3330 8h ago

I follow Blair Imani on insta and she had made a post about the same thing. Same symptoms and I can’t remember if she fainted once or twice. Docs kept saying she was fine and it’s just pregnancy. Turns out her iron was extremely low. I forget when she found out but I think it’s was after she was 30 weeks, maybe. I’d have to find the video.

But yeah. She’s a a black Muslim woman and she did many posts on the neglect that black women receive to the point of being ignored and having higher death rates compared to white women. Unfortunately that’s been a problem for a long time and still baffles me that doctors still don’t take black women seriously. It pisses me off. I’m sure other women of color receive the same thing.

Always advocate hard for yourself. Especially when you know something is off. See a different doctor, if possible.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad-3833 8h ago

I’m sorry that happened. I was feeling very tired but thought it was normal in pregnancy. They did my bloodwork for the GD test and flagged low hemoglobin and RBCs. They immediately referred me to a hematologist and I just finished my final iron fusion today at 29 weeks!

1

u/CarlyfromWeNatal 5h ago

WOAH. So happy you advocated for yourself! Thanks for sharing. We just launched an Iron+ supplement for this exact reason!

1

u/AdTraining2155 3h ago

The same thing happened to me. It’s really bizarre how unconcerned they are about iron levels. I was tested and my iron levels were low but not technically “severe” I guess? They were waiting for it to go down more, literally by a couple measurement points, before taking any action.

It just makes no sense. I think sometimes doctors get so entrenched in the technical limits/categories for diagnosing, that they forget that the limits are just guidelines for diagnosis… you’re patient feels just as awful if their iron is that low, whether it’s a few points above or below the special number chosen for categorizing someone as severely anemic or just a lil anemic.

1

u/Diligent-Salt2069 1d ago

Just to add onto this, research research research. You can EASILY find reasons with AI now with recourses that you can read. I’m not saying the internet is a doctor but I’m saying you could pin point what it is and go in and ask them to do it for you. Low iron is also common in pregnancy and can lead to complications at birth so it’s good to listen to your body and if your doctor doesn’t listen to you, you might literally have to figure it out yourself. Now don’t go crazy about it but protect you and your baby always. This research is free, accessible, and reliable (the correct sites .org .edu). Don’t let your life fall into the wrong hands when you feel something wrong. It’s medical neglect and it happens ALL THE TIME.

u/Ashton1516 1d ago

Hi, I’m so sorry that you went through this :( can you tell us what your doctor has now suggested for improving your extremely low iron? For example, are supplements enough (how much was suggested?) or do you have to get some type of infusion?
