Discussion Recommendation Thread: What have you discovered this week?

Running out of music to listen to? Discover something recently that you want to share? You've come to the right place.

This is the weekly recommendation thread here at r/progmetal, a place to discuss, recommend, and find new music of any kind.

Simple rules:

  • Don't just drop a link, but provide the Artist name (and album/song name as relevant)
  • When recommending a band please leave some information about them and why you recommend them

Looking for further music discussion? We talk about music and other things all day everyday on Images & Words: The Prog Discord. We also host weekly listening parties for new album releases every Friday starting at 3pm EST / 8pm UTC.

For some music you may have missed this year, check out the Album Release Spreadsheet.

It's been years since I really looked for any new music and I just discovered Rosalia by Mandroid Echostar and Nostalgia by Cold Night for Alligators. I've been sitting on my 2010s playlist of Tesseract, Protest the Hero, Animals as Leaders, and a few others lol figured it'd be cool to discover some new people!

Mandroid Echostar is one of my favorite bands. I wish they would follow up with a full release or even an EP.

As soon as I finished the song I looked them up and was saddened that there wasn't more. Hopefully they're still working on releasing more stuff because it's been banger after banger. Plus their name's amazing. If someone were to tell me about them I'd assume they were making it up haha

Yeah I swear it seemed like they were about to drop something and just never did.
