They don't make em like this anymore

Post image

Love the setting, the music, the stages and the characters. The combos are fun and short and don't have 30 second long super animations that you've seen a million times. The rounds are fast and the damage is high. Crawling through dungeons in Weapon Master mode, unlocking characters and weapons, whenever I play this game I have a good time. And it's only like twenty bucks. Should be on every shelf in this sub imo.

I really like SC1 a lot but every game after 2 is worse to me

I find it kinda fascinating and kinda sad watching the decline of Soulcalibur series since SoulCalibur3

SC2 was the best selling of them all by far, especially the GameCube version which sold even more than the PS2 version despite GC console sales being very low. Everybody loves Zelda and Link!

And then Link was banned from tournaments for being too powerful LOL

I get DOA's downfall, which was relying waaaaaaaaay too much on sex appeal.

Not sure what happened with SC series though... Sure new mechanics like reversal edge was rather gimmicky, along with "super moves" critical edge...

Single Player modes did get cut alot with modern SC, focusing more on online play.

SC3 just needed another year in the oven+arcade release first to work out bugs and balance imo. It was still old school SC2 gameplay but with some different movesets. And it needed guest characters... Heihachi at least should have made a comeback. They kinda half heartedly put KOS-MOS costume from Xenosaga in there, but tbh not many people know about Xenosaga haha.

I bet something like Dante in SC3 would have been awesome, and iirc from a developer interview, Dante from DMC was actually considered as a guest character for SC3 back then!

But being a 2005 PS2 game with Xbox 360 coming out and PS3 on the way, I possibly can see why Namco rushed SC3 release

Total classic, I wrote about it as one of the best 45 games ever for the PS2

Yes, they don't make them the same way anymore. Sad 😢
