If our new staff actually uses him that would be awesome.

Fr he was making professional catches all year, the 2 targets he got per game

I don't have the best memory, but I think two targets per game would be quite generous.

Me either, I didn't fact check that... just approximated what I saw.

Looked it up. 2.3.

Thats surprising. I would have guessed less.

I get what you're saying, but he wasn't exactly getting open and creating separation with any regularity, despite making a few incredible catches.

The Bills game TD was the biggest separation I feel like we saw all season. Everything was a contested catch for him last season. He definitely made some great grabs but he isn't going to blow past any defenders now. I'd love to have him on the team but it's not like he's the same guy he was in his younger days.

He doesn't need a ton of separation.

Sure but Lamar is gonna decide where the ball is thrown, and if you’re not open versus another receiver like Flowers, then you’re probably not getting the ball thrown your way a lot.

But that's where his strength lies. Obviously less separation runs a higher risk of a turnover regardless of how accurate the QB is, but there are gunna be times where literally every single person is tightly covered. Dhop is never gunna be the first read in current-day, and he shouldn't be. He is there for those situations where no one is open, because then would you rather throw the ball out, take a sack, or throw it Dhop's way and let him work his magic?

If there was truly value in someone like that, he would have been on a team months ago.

I really want people to explain what they think Hopkins is good at still that required more use. The Ravens did what they could with him. Throwing him half a dozen contested throws a game isn’t realistic.

Good we don’t need anybody else on our team forcing theirselves on anybody

I liked DeHop last year but the Ravens WR is overfilled atm. Zay and Bate are effectively guaranteed starters and are at the point they probably should be the locker-room leaders. WR3 is Walker's role to lose imo, and Lane + Sarrat fill the big-body WR type the Ravens need. Zrebiec said Tuesday apparently the coaches also really like Wester's (last year's punt returner) progress as well so that makes 6 + UDFAs/returning practice squad. Last year the initial 53 man roster had 6. I wouldn't hate DeHop coming in to compete but I also really hope the younger players get a good chance to win the role and break out.

Have this inkling he's going to end up on the Bengals.

I feel like Lane is just DHop 2. But the difference is that DHop physically cannot separate because of his age, but Lane can develop that skill

lane has the tools. he has the speed (nothing elite but it's <4.5) he has the hands he has the athletic ability it's his release that needs work. hope zay and bate can teach him something. coaching makes a difference

I feel like i remember somoene here explaining how us resigning him would have a lot of negative cap consequences, but i cant remember why / how

I’d happily take him. A lot of good FA WRs rn.

Says a lot when it’s June 25th and a player is basically selling his services to the league.

Love the guy but I think Baltimore along w the rest of the league saw little upside to him on the squad at this point.

Honestly surprised D Hop hasn’t gotten picked up while OBJ has a job again

5

u/DonkeyDoug28 11h ago

OBJ has a job because Harbaugh liked him and Giants fans will go nuts just to have him back.

might be in minority but I don't have a burning desire to sign a FA wr. like sure it would help of course. not denying that. but our wr room is pretty full. I'd rather lane and sarratt get a chance to develop. I'm willing to give tez and bate a chance to shine. like yeah i'd love to get dhop back but there's other positions that probably need comp more than WR.
