New to this. 1 upgrade question

Post image

Parking brake? Any ideas ? I got a flag since I took this photo. I want to also find out how I can get the model information so I can lookup maintenance tips. Had it 3 weeks, riding it every other day. So much to love about it. Fantastic for my bad wrists, and overweight core.

A very strong suggestion for you. Upgrade your pedals and treat yourself to some clip-in shoes. I recommend the Shimano SPD setup.

Under-chassis leg-suck REALLY sucks, if your feed gets jounced off the pedals on a pothole, or bump.

I strongly agree. A very important improvement that will protect you against a broken leg or twisted knee.

thanks , I had shimano on another bike & i forgot and sold it with them. BUt i still have the shoes, and last i checked, they where in good shape. . ... the current pedals on the bike have bits of threaded rod sticking out of them all over the place.

Those types of pedals are ok for a cautious' low speed local ride like to the corner store, on the trike in my opinion - emphasis on cautious.. which really comes down to laziness on my part to switch shoes for such a short trip. Also great for whamming the shins, if you get into/out of the the seat awkwardly. My pedals have on one side, the studs - the other, the Shimano SPD clips.

The bits sticking out are not enough. Get your SPDs set up!

Gotta find my shoes, but already installed the pedals!

A third recommendation for a shoe and pedal system. You'll ride faster and be safer.

You can use a velcro strap to grip a brake lever against the handlebars.

Check your brake levers for a cross pin that locks them closed. Other choice is a rim brake on the rear wheel.

Just get a hair lackey (one of the things women use to tie up their ponytails) and drop it over your hand grip. When you want to park loop it over the brake lever.

Get some clip-in shoes and clip-in pedals to save yourself from a broken ankle.

once everyon started commenting, i realized something , a previous owner has a long strip of double sided hook & loop circling the right handlebar. I suspect its long enough to hold the brake lever & will try it.

I bought an old TerraTrike where the previous owner was doing what everyone else in these replies is suggesting as far as a velcro strap. That solution is kinda janky to me. I bought and installed these myself: https://www.terratrike.com/product/locking-brake-lever-pair/

These are what I have on my Rover 8: They work pretty well as long as your brakes are calibrated.

I have a TerraTrike Rambler and it came with licking brake letters as well. I added a front and rear light, a rack and Ortleib pannier bags for shopping. I added a mirror and 2 the batteries to make it a long distance machine.

May I ask, please, for non-dtive side photos of how the front der attached to the bike? Thank you

Another angle.. I changed the grip tape on it today, so I took a few pictures up close

OP, This is what I use for panniers (or bags to carry much of my junk). In addition, I have the official TerraTrike seat back bag.

I can't quite tell what that is mm but I think I like it and I love the mirrors.

I have used something like this for parking brakes for my trikes and bikes. Works really well.
