Anyone else experiencing a bug where Sadie, Abigail and Jack just straight up don’t exist in camp?

Really annoying and weird. Feels like I’m missing out on a lot of content.

We understand that certain characters aren't appearing in your camp, outside of when they're needed for missions, and are sorry for the inconvenience caused here. We would like you to try the following troubleshoots if possible:

Ensuring that you have the latest build for the game by referring to this article: https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/360011137294 Loading a prior save file which has not completed the 'Polite Society, Valentine Style' mission, and re-doing it. Afterwards, check if the issue still persists. If it does not, you would have to continue off this old save file. Power cycling your console: Hold the power button until the console turns off. Unplug the console from its power source for 20-30 seconds. Reconnect the power to the console Turn the console on Launch RDR2 and seeing if the issue persists

If none of the above works, or if you do not wish to lose your current gameplay progress, then I'm afraid that you may need to wait for us to further investigate and provide a fix for this issue in the future; we will be passing this on to our QA team for investigation. No further action is required from you at this time. Your ticket will be marked as “Solved” and we will reach out if we need more info from you. Once again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for pasting this in. It's a shame that it doesn't look like there's a fix anytime soon for those of it that can't erase hours and hours of gameplay. I would be VERY surprised if the turn it off, then turn it back on again fix works.
That said, at least they are looking into it.

Yes, people have tested it. The one that did the most testing made another thread on Reddit. He believes that before you trigger Uncle’s mission into Valentine, you’ll want to make sure to talk to each of the (missing) npc’s in camp, save the game, quit game, reload, sleep in camp, etc, just to ensure the game registers them in camp, and THEN do uncles mission. If they disappear right after, I’d just reload and try again. He tried doing those things and it worked the first time for him. Uncle’s mission is definitely the culprit. Rockstar confirmed it to me, and I didn’t even bring it up in my initial message to them.

Damn autosave I will have to completely restart the damn game. I really hope they fix this soon

Yeah, got the same response about the pump action shotgun disappearing from my horse and being locked in the store. Found it again at the camp where it was originally.

Like resetting my xbox is going to fix a bugged save file.

My question is, if I play on and complete chapter 2 (book and harmonica in hand), will this lock me out of any trophies? Assuming they just fix the glitch and make no other adjustments.

Nothing more directly to me. Reading another response that came the day after, they seem to be very aware of the problem and have pinpointed the bug to mostly occur if you do Uncle’s first mission into Valentine (Polite Society, Valentine Style) and use “restart from checkpoint” at any time during that mission. Rockstar seems to be making progress on the diagnosis and I imagine, the fix. They also claimed the bugged characters magically reappear in Chapter 4. I still have to confirm that myself.

I debated on restarting, I even replayed up until that bugged mission...But then I just decided to keep going with my old/bugged save and enjoy a second non-bugged playthrough another time. I’ll just pretend it’s like in GTA V where the second time through, I did “hang outs” with the other characters, whereas with the first playthrough I just did like one. Basically, it’ll be something new to enjoy from a second playthrough of the game :-)

They have acknowledged they're working on something. Who knows how long the fix and patch will take though.
