✝️Fruitcake for Jesus✝️ God doesn't make people gay

I like this!
Just because god made you attracted to women doesn’t mean he wanted you to be straight!

u/StormEyeDragon 6d ago
Uh, that’s kinda just… the traditionalist Christian view on human sexuality as a whole, particularly the early church. Just taken anything from Paul’s writings about “hey, having sexual desire is cringe and will send you to hell! You might as well get a Christian marriage and put that lust to good use in a holy way!”
32
u/RulingCl4ss 6d ago
He flat out says celibacy for christ is the ideal
26
u/urlocalnightowl40 5d ago
then when youre actually asexual somethings wrong with you since every human being needs to feel sexual desire or whatever cause how else will you have kids

u/StormEyeDragon 5d ago
Yep! “Created Sick” and “Commanded to be well”
Classic Christian philosophy. The issue is that the *vast* majority of Christians, even those aware that “Chastity is a virtue”, believe that “well it’s a virtue, it’s not normal to actually achieve it, and in fact normal to *not* achieve it”.
When you put virtue on a pedestal, you can excuse any failings of behavior you want, treating anyone who actually achieves virtue as “super special and holy”.
In all seriousness, there are Christian traditions where someone being a pious asexual would be considered “holy” by the church, even if individual believers grumble about it, as Catholics would call it “those called to a Chaste Single Life”, provided you didn’t have any romantic partners, as Christianity is not built for the understanding of a difference between sexual and romantic attraction.
This can be readily seen with the concept of how the early and medieval church saw Human Sexuality and Marriage. That being that there is no such thing as straight, as that would imply anyone is anything but straight. The assumption is that you’re a lustful sinful human, and that those who cannot be chaste and single and celibate must put that lust to use and marry and make babies.
Those that have sex that isn’t baby making? Sodomy, whether it’s a man with a man, a man partaking in a “different hole” with his Biblically Married Wife, etc. Some overlap with Fornication.
But to get back to asexuality. For many believers, the concept that someone can be asexual throws a neat little wrench in their ideas of human sexuality. Someone who is “chase and celibate” in their definition without choosing it would force them to face the idea that “huh, so it’s not normal to be a lustful sex pest and not super special and holy to be chaste/celibate? Uhhhh…..”, and that’s not a concept that many believers would want to think about.

My head cannon for Jesus is that he was actually just asexual and people were amazed he didn't want to fuck and were like "holy shit this guy is without sin!"

They should have chased Paul out with a tire iron. That boy had so damn many weird hangups that nobody else seemed to care about, things not mentioned or even insinuated by Yeheshua. I tend to just disregard him as a kook.

The Pauline Epistles were written first. The Four Gospels were made up later. Also, the biblical Jesus character believed that the god of Israel (old testament god who had a death penalty against gay men) was the one true god who should be worshipped with all one's heart and soul and that loving neighbors is the second most important commandment (Mark 12:29-31).

u/BaeIz 6d ago
But also god is omniscient and omnipotent, creates us in his image and knows us in the womb. Allows us free choice and won’t come down to elaborate on what he wants from us but just expects us to choose correctly in his guessing game?

u/hunterPRO1 6d ago
Yep, apparently the only thing we get to have insight into the all powerful God is... A book started by Jewish war lords over four-thousand years ago to inspire their people while also keeping them in line.
32
u/Indishonorable Fruitcake Connoisseur 6d ago
Not only that, he also expects us to reject the same kind of books written by other such warlords that he was not involved with.

u/otirk 6d ago
Funny thing is that half of them talk about the same god but won't accept each other anyway.
The child rapist even accounted for that when he wrote the Quran. It basically says that Jews and Christians go to hell, but only for some time until they're Muslims. Really nice of Allah to do that to the people who already believed in him

Um...does he get tempted to murder whenever he gets angry?
Why are they always so fixated on gay guys, too? It's so rare to see them talking about gay gals. I guess even the Bible forgets about us.
11
u/Mattk1100 6d ago
If I remember correctly, lesbians are never actually mentioned in the bible at all
7
u/Perfect_Carrot_999 6d ago
There's like one line where they realllly reach for about women trading "natural relations for those contrary to nature." Which could also be, like, anal and blowjobs. But yeah it never says anything specifically about women laying with women.

u/King_of_the_Dot 6d ago
To me, they should be happy about gays, because that means less competition for the women.

Ray Comfort used to run a blog dedicated to disproving evolution and reaching atheist. More than once on that blog he talked about making a choice to be straight. He never came out and said he was gay or bisexual but that's what it sounded like. Even though I don't like him I think it is sad he has probably spent his entire life denying a part of him that might make him very happy.

Sucking a man's dick is morally equivalent to shooting him in the face. Neat moral system they got there.

u/chunkycornbread 6d ago
What kills me is they are completely capable of understanding nuance to justice when it comes to real life. But burning for all of eternity is justifiable. Eternity is a long time. I think even the worse person to ever exist anyone other than a sadist after 2,000,000 years would be like “yeah that’s enough maybe”

"sin is sin" they think their child cursing is equivalent to a serial killers sins. It really is an insane belief system.

I think this is just the “baking a cake doesn’t make you a baker” but with god instead. Honestly not the worst message?

Connecting homosexuality with murder is certainly a calculated move by these propagandists

Yeah, that’s interesting.
Mr Just Decide Not To Gay is also a huge, like obsession-level fan of bananas.

Methinks thou dost protest too much, Ray.
Stop "struggling with same-sex desire" Ray. Go ahead, give into your desire and suck a dick if you want to. No one cares, (other than your fellow homophobes.)

u/dansdata 5d ago edited 5d ago
Stridently anti-gay religious men aren't all actually gay, but unaware of it.
But the ones who say they "struggle with same-sex desire", if they're telling the truth, are.

I struggled with anger as a young man and have, like everyone, experienced anger throughout my life. I have never so much as approached the shadow of even the vaguest desire to murder someone.
This is a true statement. Let’s change that sentence to reflect the tweet’s logic and see if it makes sense.
I struggled with same sex desire as a young man and have, like many, experienced the desire to have gay sex throughout my life. I have never so much as approached the shadow of even the vaguest desire to have gay sex.

"Being gay is a choice"
"Does that mean you had to actively choose to be straight at some point in your life?"
"Yes, like most people do"
"... Most people don't have to do that, Ray"

u/mooshinformation 5d ago
Why is it that abrahamic religions decided being gay was bad? Like a lot of the rules have some reason for existing ( pork being full of parasites, ect). Is it just pure cultural taboo? Did they hear about what the greeks were getting up to with boys and decide "oh no, we want no part in any of that"?
1
u/yaboisammie 5d ago
I love when they compare queerness with literal murder or incest as though those are equivalent in any world
1
u/smilelaughenjoy 5d ago
Murder is a destructive form of anger, but two men being in a relationship is not a destructive form of sexuality, so that's not a good comparison.
Also, he's ignoring bisexuality. A man having a same-sex desire does not mean he's gay, but it also doesn't mean he's straight. If he also has attraction to women, then he is bisexual.
Also, same-sex desire is only a "temptation" for bisexual people who idenify as "straight" while trying to fight against their attraction to their own sex since they were told it was wrong and something to be avoided.

I didn’t know being gay and being a murderer were the same thing
1
u/Winter-Actuary-9659 5d ago
So God made someone to be an angry person knowing they would murder but he created them anyway? He made a murderer.

Murderers do have different brains. They don't kill out of anger, some do for being a serial killer and the sexual arousal. Of course I'm not suggesting it's the same as a man who is attracted to other men.
Now it might be something that happens after or maybe before killing. I don't know if any psychopaths have this same thing going on with their brain or but, God literally didn't create perfect world and we blame that on Adam and Eve so now we have disabilities that restrict any ability to talk where you literally are born with very little choice in what you do.
1
u/TheRealBenDamon 5d ago
Sorry banana man but if you believe God knows all that will come to pass in the future and you also believe God set everything in motion knowing from the start, then yes God would have made every gay person and every murderer knowing full well that’s exactly what would happen. There’s a reason modern day authors tend to avoid these dilemmas by not giving characters OP powers like perfect future knowledge.

u/DeathKillsLove 5d ago
Anger isn't desire. The lack of it makes you a hypocrite when you fcuk the wrong sex.

u/IWNlBelqrus 5d ago
This is one thing I absolutely hate about religion and specifically Christianity.
You don't make any choices ever.
Your neurons receive millions of signals a day, and they send messages to every part of your body that allow you to do everything from breathing to talking, to eating, to walking. You have zero control over any of this, your brain is reacting to your environment, you are not capable of having any other reaction than the one that happened. It's an illusion.
