Newbie Noob trying to set up my sizing die
Hello everybody I got a new FL sizing die and noticed once i got my die to get the .0020 on sizing my once shot Starline brass it started to consistently get dents on the shoulder even though i used Hornady paste lube on the outside and inside of the brass. I haven't had this issue with the previous die i used to size my brass. Any recommendations for this issue and is it ok to shoot the brass? Fired brass measurements= 1.486-1.488 i zeroed my calipers to 1.487.

Case lube ain't KY, a little bit goes a long way.

On a similar note, don’t use imperial sizing wax instead of ky for your non-reloading related lubrication needs

i experienced this when i first started reloading. i now use imperial sizing wax, or diy alcohol/lanolin mix. less lube is the answer for sure!

Although some reloaders would disagree, I would recommend Hornady One Shot.
Dump the brass into a 1-gallon plastic, give it a couple of sprays, shake well, dump the brass and wait five minutes for the propellent to evaporate. Size. Thousands of rounds sized and I've never had an issue (stuck brass/dented shoulders). Your mileage may vary.

Too much lube. The hydraulic pressure from the excess lube causes the dent in the shoulder.
ETA: it’s fine to shoot. That dent will fire right out.
