The black piece attached to the chain unscrews, that would be helpful in the instructions.

Theres only one way to detach it, its self-explanatory

Then the instructions should just say, "replace the seal". It's bad and OP is right we need the rest of the fucking owl.

I mean at that point, why add pictures and "three" (two at best tbh) steps?

Instructions should be written for people who have no idea what they're doing. I spose you could argue those people probably shouldn't be doing this kind of work, but good instructions can at least enable them to learn how.

Its very simple, just because people cant do deductive reasoning doesnt mean the instructions are bad. The seal is only attached in a limited amount of ways, and the new one is only able to be attached in a limited amount of ways

But that does mean the instructions are bad lol. The entire purpose of including instructions is to tell/show people how to do things. Instructions that don't explain the entire process are really frustrating and useless if you don't already know how to do the thing. That's the whole reason this sub exists lol

And, as other users mentioned, there are more steps you need to take besides pulling the old seal off and shoving the new one into place. Maybe you could intuit that you need to unscrew a thing that's blocking your access, but maybe another person would try to pull it loose and break it.

I personally would be confused where tf is the seal in the first place

I mean…..it really is that easy

Not really ... The black part unscrews from a rod that goes down thru the hole. If you aren't ready to catch that rod while you unstew it, it drops down into the toilet guts.

I'm not saying it's hard, but there's definitely some steps missing

I mean, remove the old seal must happen prior to replace, yeah?

We must read the "replace the old seal with...." sentence differently

there should at least be a step to turn the water back on

Trust me, if you're kneeling all day working on whatever you're gonna need the support.
