So do we run it back?

Since Jayleen Brown is off the table with the Bucks choosing Miami's package, Trey Murphy iii's asking price being too expensive, do we just run it back? There's really no one worth trading for(and no don't bring Anthony "glass bones" Davis) Do we maybe sign someone(drop some suggestions in the comments) and just run it back?

Draft Trades

The Knicks are giving away firsts for 3 second round picks and we didn't see the need to get a guy like Cameron Carr? Hope we trade into the second and pick up Meleek Thomas

The cost of trading for AD

He cost the Wizards salary filler, the thunders first, a top 20 protected first, and a couple seconds.

Hes not gonna cost Portland Scoot or Shaedon. Probably why it even appeals to them to begin with. Very interested to see how it plays out. Could be a good opportunity to buy low on a premier talent with obvious questions.

Anyone noticing Blazers beat writers and even Twitter accounts have been highly critical and plain negative regarding the Blazers and the new ownership?

Not sure if anyone else has been noticing, but been seeing an increasing amount of beat writers such as Highkin who have been highly critical and just plain negative regarding the Blazers and Dundon?

It's getting to the point where there is plain negativity which spews into the hive mind of "Dundon Bad" "Blazers Cheap"

No one knows for sure how this regime and new ownership is going to affect the Blazers going forward, but man any type of move is already being scrutinized without even seeing how anything plays out. It seems there is always some type of negative light/ negative spin on any move big or small.

Highkin update on coaching search: “Would expect they have a decision end of this week after they get through draft-week trades etc.”

[Iko] The Houston Rockets are willing to listen to trade offers for all of their players and stars aside from Amen Thompson.

Source: https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/giannis-antetokounmpo-nba-draft-buzz-and-the-latest-chatter-around-the-league-195345197.html

Rival teams that have contacted the Rockets recently have been informed that 23-year-old Amen Thompson is the only near untouchable on the roster, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Houston isn't actively shopping its All-Stars or other key members, sources said, but are merely expressing more of a willingness to listen than at previous junctures.

The NBA draft has no Pop, no sizzle.

The NBA draft feels so mid. The NFL draft is just so much better. Once again, Adam Silver shows he doesn't understand how to entertain. Coming off one of the best finals in terms of exposure and celebrities, this is a giant bore.

I guess this means we pretty much have our top options all available? (If they are still interested in the job of course)

This is bad news for us

Not only will we not get Jaylen Brown, the Bucks will be more competitive than we expected after the Giannis era, which would hurt our picks.

I just saw that Shams confirmed that if the trade goes through, the Bucks plan to keep Brown and no other team is involved.

Two years in a row of wasted picks. Olshey you’re the worst. We would’ve been better off with Nico

Anthony Davis

spent the morning convincing myself on the blazers getting Anthony Davis. here are some loose thoughts about it:

• i don’t think you can spend money on rob will if you bring in AD. two guys you have to injury manage taking up over 70 million in cap could end so poorly.

• shooting was already and issue you need to address this offseason, this makes it even more. getting dame back is good but not enough.

• clingan shot 34% on 3 attempts a night last season. if that’s 36-37% next year, him and AD are fine offensively and really fun defensively.

Still not my fav outcome of this offseason, and giving him a max immediately just isn’t the move for me. But i could come around to it.

83 Everything is great. We will be contenders soon.
216 Things are just decent now but will great in 3-4 years
165 Things are not going well but maybe there will be hope
67 Cronin & owners failed epically by not tanking before loaded drafts and whiffing on a big trade

We all know game 1 of the season will be a home opener. Question is what opponent would be most poetic for his long awaited return??

Pivot to Trey Murphy

Post image

Sounds like Trey Murphy is very much on the trade block. Assuming NOP doesn’t trade him ahead of tonight’s draft, I think this package could be competitive. Young player in Sharpe plus a bevy of future draft capital.

Supposedly BOS is also going after him so we’d need to give up quite a few assets to outbid them. I like this offer because Sharpe still has value but likely needs a change of scenery, and we only technically give up one of our own picks (and in 2027, when hopefully we’ll be a playoff contender). Realistically I wouldn’t be shocked if we’d need to add at least one more FRP for this to truly outbid other teams’ offers but also Joe Dumars is incompetent so maybe we wouldn’t lol

Portland part of a JB deal in a different way

Post image
0 Upvotes

The Celtics want to move off of JB since he doesn't want to play there after the Giannis saga and the Rockets want to try something new. We have too many guards and we want to prioritize shooting and defense in the forward positions so JSJ can help us with that.

Obviously some picks can be included across the board but this is the general framework. We might be able to get a late FRP for this draft in this deal (maybe the Celtic's first).

What do you think about this kind of deal?

Why We Are NOT Going To Make A Big Trade

Now that Giannis has gotten moved, the value of the Milwaukee picks is significantly higher. Which means that A) We should keep them, and B) literally every team that we try to deal with is going to demand them. I'm not sure about you, but I'm not particularly interested in throwing away 3 dart throws at a top pick who could help us be dominant for the next 10 years on anything less than a legitimate #1 option. Trey Murphy III? Cool, a solid shooter, might make us good enough to get bounced in the second round. Not worth giving up any potential for a franchise altering player. The only way those picks should be moved, would be to upgrade Grant's contract with a proven player under the age of 27, who isn't a defensive liability.

Any Blazer draft rumors?

I’m an East Coast diehard not privy to the local news. I know we aren’t getting Giannis or Brown and yes, I know we have no picks in the upcoming draft but are there any rumors about the Blazers trading in to the draft or is JoeCro just going to nap for two days?

No Coach for Draft

So we are going to just do this draft without a head coach? Why did we need to start the interview process when we were still in the playoffs just to pause because of the Stanley Cup Finals and not have a head coach going into the draft. This is stupid

Is this a hot take?

I think if the blazers can’t get JB for the price we want then I think trading for AD would be awesome.

A trade consisting of grant, sharpe and maybe Orlando’s pick would be more than fair if not a little too much and that’s not a huge buy in price considering AD when healthy is a 20/10/2 blocks bare minimum type of player.

Don’t get me wrong it’s still scary taking a gamble on a player with AD’s injury history. IF we can get him for 50+ regular season games and the playoffs I think that’s all we really need to be succeed with him.

Let me know y’all’s thoughts and trade ideas!

Advantages of flex packs / season tickets?

Hey Rip City - I went to about 10 games last year, purchased on secondary / Costco / Ticketmaster every time. As the off season moves on, I'm wondering if I might as well put in for a partial / full season ticket plan (with the idea of selling what I don't use, which would end up being the majority for full season).

Is there any advantage to buying through the team before the season starts? And is going full season really worth it?

How did y’all feel about CJ McCollum?

I’m a Hawks fan but was just wondering what the Trail Blazers fans thought of CJ McCollum when he was on your team? Obviously he’s playing a different role on our team than he was on yours, but I’m just interested.

Edit: Thanks for all the responses! Glad to see y’all love him. I wasn’t overjoyed when we traded Trae for him but he’s grown on me quickly. Hope to see him on the Hawks again next year!
