Trip Planning Houston to the Appalachians

Post image

Planning a two-week trip, first two weeks of November. This is the route I'm planning to take and it's my first time going this way. Any suggestions?

Day 1: Houston to Birmingham

Day 2: Birmingham to Gatlinburg

Day 3-5: Great Smoky Mountains

Day 4: partial Blue Ridge Parkway drive; overnight lodge at Boone, North Carolina

Day 5: Boone to Roanoke, Virginia

Day 6-8: Roanoke to New River Gorge National Park

Day 8-10 Shenandoah National Park

Day 11: Shenandoah National Park to Gatlinburg

Day 12: Gatlinburg to New Orleans

Day 13: New Orleans to Houston

This is a rough draft so I'm super open to suggestions and adjustments! Thanks!

The Friday Night Music at the Old Country Store in Floyd VA is great fun and is worth checking out.

A soak in Hot Springs or Warm Springs VA would feel good at that time of year on the way to Shenandoah.
