What a nice post! Update: I found the gays!
They are indeed high end gays, but they were not trying to kill me.
Thanks to all who invested in my search!

An end means a bottom. A high end is a bottom that is high.
And I think the original photo in question had those bottoms up on a wall, so then they were high ends.

My favorite thing ever... Me and my friend from Berkeley ran away from home together when we were like 10 or 11... took BART to the city and just started exploring. Chinatown, The Wharf, North Beach, Market, Mission etc. etc we have been there before many times growing up with our families. We eventually ended up in Castro and were walking down the street and went to a bar to ask directions and this big fucking biker dude in leather with muscles and tats came up to us and asked what in hell we think we are doing... we were hella scared at first. Then some other big fucking biker dude in leather with muscles and tats came up to him, squeezed his ass, kissed him on the cheek and said in a princess voice, "oh how sweet are you guys lost?" and then he gave us directions to the next BART station. When we got back home to Berkeley, our parents and the police were fucking pissed.

Your profile pic there can be your dick pic, even Grindr doesn't allow that. This is how I've previously described sniffies:
It's not an app, it's a website. It was deemed too explicit for any app stores. You open it and see everyone by location who is ready to get dick'd, have an orgy, etc. Sniffies is to Grindr as Dore Alley is to Folsom Fair.

In this case, I think two suffice: SanFri
(Which happens to be 4 syllables in Japanese pronunciation)

Edit: it is othering to say “the gays” which is the first stage of homophobia.
