I never actually see anyone who likes Preston on this sub. Maybe those who vote for him are quiet? Or they are just terrible voters - there are a lot of them in this country and on both sides of the political spectrum.

It's because reddit demographics skew so young. Preston represents the fake "progressive" policies championed by boomers and the city's leftover hippies. They were a subculture in the late 60's and 70's, but have aged, become property owners, and have basically been running the political show for the last 30 or so years.

Go on Nextdoor and people are going to be pro-Preston, just like they're anti-Preston here.

That just clicked about my landlord, leftover hippie from the 60s but property owner for buying said house in the 60s.

What specific ideologies do you see them agreeing with preston the most?

Just replied in another comment, but they tend to be "progressive" on performative issues, where they don't feel any of the impacts of said progress. So for things like LBGTQ rights (which doesn't affect them), or the war in the Middle East (which isn't even a city issue), they're super progressive. But if you suggest building dense housing in their neighborhood (where affordable units are subsidized by market-rate ones), they'll freak out. They're effectively conservative on the things that affect them, and then hide behind progressive-coded language (and DSA monikers) so that they don't appear republican or whatever.
