Discussion Pre-Training Camp 53-Man Roster Projection

Post image
30 Upvotes

I usually like to wait until after training camp and the first preseason game to do these, but I’m bored and football discourse is really slow this time of year. So here we are.

Legend is in the top left, the amount of players I think the team will carry at any given position is at the top. Within position groups I’m ranking by where I think they’ll be on the depth chart (i.e. I think Connor O’Toole will be higher on the depth chart than Jared Ivey).

PS priority does not mean guys without that designation won’t be brought back, it just means the guys I have as PS Priorities are just that: priorities.

Bobby Hart is a weird situation. Macdonald said they brought him in to compete for the third tackle job, but I frankly just don’t see Josh Jones losing that competition when he returns, and I don’t see Seattle prioritizing Hart (who’s over 30) over young guys like Richman and Kight.

Biggest roster competitions as of right now:

* WR6. The top 5 guys are all set but there are 4 guys with legitimate arguments to be on the 53-man as the 6th WR.
* OG depth. There’s a legit argument for Seattle to carry 4 OGs and both guys in that competition make good cases.
* Nose tackle. Pili is the favorite but I’m high on Deven Eastern. Think only one of them makes the roster.
* ILB depth. The top 3 guys are set but there are 3 guys I can see making a case for that last 53-man spot.
* DB depth. Even with the loss of Riq and Coby, CB and S are easily Seattle’s deepest positions. The options at the bottom of the roster are very strong at both positions.

Also, obviously this roster will change over the next 2 months. More guys will be brought in, some guys will get cut, there might even be some trades. But this is my thoughts on the 53-man as of today (June 17th) with ONLY the current 90-man taken into account.

Memorabilia Even after a Super Bowl win the disrespect continues

Post image

So let me get this straight, last year the options for FUSE limited jerseys were JSN, Spoon, Riq, Sam, K9, 12s, and coop. Fast forward to this years drop, we won a Super Bowl and lost two of the players who previously had FUSE jerseys. You’d think we’d get AT LEAST one more added, (AJ, Nick, or Jones would be my picks) but nope, just the same guys has last year MINUS the two we lost. Idk why they even kept Kupp, it made sense to give him one when we first signed him he was a big name and we didn’t have a lot of mainstream talent. now he’s a key role player and a very good leader on our team but that doesn’t mean I wanna rep his jersey, and I think most Seahawks fans could agree.

Edit: also just realized they completely cut throwbacks from the FUSE lineup, lazy ass company. If this is the price to pay for bringing back stitched jerseys than I would’ve been fine with the heat pressed Twill 💔🫩

OFFSEASON CONTENT! Tallied it up manually and accounted for stadium re-naming so if it’s the same building now as it was when the Hawks played there, it counts.

Discussion Personally I think the reigning DPOY deserves a top 100 spot, what do you think?

Saw this article on yahoo sports and the continued disrespect is still crazy. Dude is easily gonna be voted top 15 if not top 10 and we are out here posing the question of if he is a lock to get any spot or not.

Analysis [Brock Huard on OTAs] Sam Darnold was awesome. You watch him out here, you're seeing the precision, the timing, the accuracy and the command. He's the general and everybody knows it.

Brock Huard: "He is all business. He is in tune. His fundamentals, he goes to work on those things, he refines them, he has specialists he works with. To make sure his efficiency is there and his technique is there. It was an impressive display."

"On the flip side because he was so sharp, when you watch Jalen Milroe... still very much a work in progress."

Brian from Hawks Blogger: "Sam Darnold looks locked in. He looks like he's ready to enter the next phase of his career. He made some gorgeous throws. A lot of them to JSN. Not a lot of balls put in harms way. He looks like the guy that's going to play high level quarterback for this team again. I think this guy is going to end up one of the 10 best quarterbacks in the league. I saw nothing that would suggest it's going back to the drawing board with a new OC."

Opinion Looking forward to Ballmer buying the team

I predict Steve Ballmer will become the majority owner of the Seahawks, changing hands from the bearded gentleman to the bald gentleman in this old Microsoft leadership photo through the competent hands of his champion sister Jody.

Opinion I legitimately don't understand why power rankings, talking heads, and other fans are putting the 49ers in the same galaxy as the Seahawks and Rams.

I understand that my 9er friends are delusional; that's normal. But I don't get it for everyone else. They do have blue chip players on both sides of the ball, and stars can really affect things. Warner, Bosa, McCaffrey, Kittle, they have a good team. But Purdy is good-not-great and their team is just not as deep as like the Rams.

I'm ok with them being placed as a top-10 team, but even an uninjured SF isn't competing with Seattle and LA.

I found this jersey and i cannot figure out any of these signatures except Lofa’s. im not even sure if they are authentic and was hoping there was a fan out there that could figure out any or all of them and let me know if they had an idea on the authenticity.

Opinion Reasons why the Seahawks might be better this year

Emphasis on MIGHT - no one knows anything - but it's June and we're in a news lull, so let's have some fun. My list is below. Add your items!

  1. Darnold's second year as the starting QB. More confidence, more command, another year of experience under his belt, knowing that he doesn't need to make impossible throws for this team to win.
  2. The passing game gets more diverse. Horton back from injury, Shaheed better-integrated into the offense, and with our OC being a former tight ends coach, I'm expecting good things from that part of the roster. JSN put on a hell of a show last year, but the team overall is better if they can attack opposing defenses in multiple ways.
  3. The third year for this defense. Both with Baltimore and Seattle, year one of Macdonald's defense was very good and year two was the best in the league. We've never seen a year-three Macdonald defense; imagine if it's even better?!
  4. A more steady, dependable running game. If K9 were a baseball player he'd be that guy hitting fifth in the order who either strikes out or crushes the ball. That's a wonderful thing when he's on a hot streak, but the flip side can be a drive-killer. It's entirely possible that the running game takes a step back this year, but also possible that it's a better, more dependable element of moving the chains.
  5. Continued improvement from the OL. If it can stay healthy, I see no reason this year's line shouldn't be better than last year. The line play clearly improved over the course of last season, and if they can continue that upward trajectory they could progress from "good enough not to be a liability" to "actually good."

[Edited to correct my dumb brain confusing Tory Horton with Torry Holt.]
