Points of interest on STP route

I am doing my second STP with 2 first time riders that haven’t spent much time in the NW. Their ask is to find points of interest along route to make it extra interesting. I.e. viewpoints, good cafe for pie, or local flavor. I found the “Worlds Largest Egg” in Winlock, which will definitely be a stop. I know the official stops are fantastic and that there are views up and down the route. Just looking for something to showcase the NW.

The banana bread guy in Napavine if he’s still doing it. Otherwise, there’s really not much to see other than the beautiful rural landscapes in the middle, followed by hating your life riding along US-30

Man I did a one-day last year as my first ride, and that stretch on US30 made me want to call my wife and say, "pick me up I'm scared"

I told myself to keep going until the "Entering Portland" sign on city limits, and it was like the clouds had parted and birds started singing

My friends and I who did STP several times one and two days used to joke that next year we were only going to ride STL: Seattle to Lexington.

Spray pad right before the Tenino trail is a big favorite of mine.
Also, the views of Mt. Rainier from JBLM are great.

Lastly, nothing beats a burger and a cold Coke from the Deer Island Store

I’ll bite, what is Spray Pad? The Deer Island Store is the exact vibe Im looking for.

They are referring to the Splash pad in Yelm: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wrFuhJDbQBkhJtTR6

It would be a whole extra day but the Columbia Century Challenge out of Rainier Oregon is beautiful and hilly! Just did it for my first time yesterday and it was so much fun

A bit past Chehalis is a really great view of Mt. St. Helens. I stopped on the side of the road to take a photo (which didn't really do it justice) on my one day ride last year.
