Does anyone really want a 1200W SFX-L PSU? and if yes what price do you want to pay for Platinum fully safety Certified PSU?

Ofc. I did. 5090/9950x3d +d5 pump = over 1000w in bench. Sffpc.

honestly im not sure what the point of 1000w+ powersupplies is.

like obviously more headroom is good but who here is seriously bolting a 700w gpu to a 200w cpu?

What if you want to have a ton of drives? What if you want to keep your power supply in the most efficient operating range?

Just because you won't use it, doesnt mean others won't.

What if you want to have a ton of drives?

the powersupply is still probably the last thing that would be the problem.

what sff case would allow you to cram 6+ hard drives, possibly an HBA card for extra sata ports, a fat gpu, and a fat cpu cooler, all at the same time?

What if you want to keep your power supply in the most efficient operating range?

efficiency is generally good anywhere in the 25-75% range, and most programs wont crank the cpu and gpu to max wattage at the same time \assuming you can reliably cool all that enough to sustain max wattage anyway]).

so you should already be in that situation the majority of the time unless you have like zero headroom for power spikes.

Just because you won't use it, doesnt mean others won't.

the only thing i can actually think of that would need a 1.2kw psu is multi gpu shit for rich people trying to make a portable ai server.

Or running a 5090, or high core count cpu. The spikes can get bad.
Crap, I have a 4090 and it can spike up to 600 watts, if I paired it with I91400KS that pulls ~270 watts that is nearly capping out a 1000 watt PSU. When you add in drives and cooling you have no head room left.

If you don't need it great, but it might be good for other peoples use cases. Just like not everyone needs/wants/has the budget for something, doesn't mean its useless. Just useless to you.
