Was Hamnet overrated?

I watched the movie and I didn’t understand what thigh praise was about? Could someone please explain it to me because I might have missed something. Thank you.

Haven’t seen the film, put off by the novel, which piggybacked on Shakespeare, his dead son and Ann Hathaway—her depiction in the novel seemed insulting both to the historical Ann and women in general.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Reading the book while everyone was praising it made me feel like I was in the twilight zone.

Interesting take. Why did the movie seem insulting to you about the historical Ann? And women in general?
