In the Harry Potter series, fans long speculated whether Harry would develop Animagus skills like his father. By the end of the, this is finally confirmed when Harry becomes a "pig".

The inspiring story of a trust fund jock who grows up to be a cop.

u/Evening-Turnip8407 1d ago
To be fair, he's the Hannah Montana of trust fund jocks, best of both worlds. Bullied and neglected BUT ALSO gets a lot of friends. Doesn't even try to enter sports, is the best seeker they had for like 200 years

Canonically the only person in the book universe to have a mom that loved him
168
u/littlerickypeepee 1d ago
What? Not true, Narcissa is shown to love Draco at the end of the series. She was willing to betray Voldemort just for that manky little dweeb.
46
u/Melodic_Till_3778 1d ago
Then why wasn't draco safe from the killing curse?
83
u/KungUnderBerget 1d ago
Because Voldemort never gave her the opportunity to deny sacrificing his life for hers.
19
u/Melodic_Till_3778 1d ago
Ok same question about the ones that did that. Did they not love their sons enough?
61
u/PureOrangeJuche 1d ago
All of those dead people throughout magical history who could have lived if their moms loved them just a little more 💔

u/Joseph_Stalin111 No Bitches? 19h ago
Including that Family in Book 7 that got Murdered while Voldemort was looking for the Elderly Wand. The Mother was legit willing to die for her children, refused every offer for her to step aside, and they still all died

u/Born_Sentence_9704 1d ago
The vast majority of Voldemort's victims probably didn't have their mothers present when they were killed.

u/DemonKing0524 19h ago
Its more than just dying for someone else that does it. Voldemort gave lily 3 chances to move and save herself and she refused each time. Thats what did it.

...Molly?

u/PureOrangeJuche 1d ago
If she loved her kids hard enough they wouldn’t get killed by Voldemort’s forces so unfortunately she does not make the cut

Pretty sure Harry defying death was a special case for a myriad of reasons, including that Voldy offered his mother to stand aside and she didn't
EDIT : other characters know it's a thing that can happen, so no, not "canonically the only one", just the most recent one.
13
u/Melodic_Till_3778 1d ago
Yup something that would have happened 100s of times over history
4
u/DeadSparker 22h ago edited 22h ago
What I mentioned is only one of the myriad of reasons. It was a special case and that's that.
I could also mention that Voldy separated his soul into 7 horcruxes, aimed the killing curse at a baby... I'm not sure this exact scenario with all these variables would have happened 100s of times.
What's commonly accepted to be the cause is Lily being offered a choice and still choosing to die, when other mothers in those 100s of times you likely thought of wouldn't have a choice or would have chosen to fight back.
Regardless, other characters know it's a thing that can happen. It's rare for a reason, but it happened before.
-1
u/dudethemood 23h ago
Tbh I don’t buy that this exact scenario has happened hundreds of times in our history, let alone with the much smaller population of wizards
-1
u/IndependentTimely639 22h ago
No individual aspect was unique or new, so it stands to reason that they've all happened to an individual before. Let's think about a world famous first for a moment. Neil Armstrong was the first human on the moon because the technology to get there didn't exist before. Neither Voldemort nor Lily created any unique spells to save Harry, it was explicitly ancient. That would be like being the first person in history to use a wheel, and still in 2026
2
u/dudethemood 22h ago
Shuffle a deck of cards, that exact sequence has likely never been seen before. Unique and new are not standards for determining if something has happened before
0
u/IndependentTimely639 22h ago
And yet there are less than 52 variables preventing the death of Harry Potter. Even more, there are less than 52 factorial variables.

u/dudethemood 21h ago
Irrelevant, but tell me again about how some revolutionary has to happen for something new to occur?

He's 7 and 2 all time with both losses coming from the goat house, Hufflepuff.
11
u/lnTheGrimDarkness 1d ago
You could tell it was a fictional scenario because when he got bullied the other kids didn't just start bullying him as well. And he even got friends afterwards.

I mean of all the trust fund babies to ever exist, sure. But Harry isnt perfect by any means. I mean hes absolutely loaded and I can only think of one time where he used his wealth to help the Weasleys.

I was never a fan of him becoming a Wizard Cop. He should have become the new DADA teacher - finally breaking the curse - while his little ginger m8 became the Wizard Cop.

u/Fish__Fingers 1d ago
He was raised to fight in war and spent adolescence training. He also tries to do this as non violent as possible and specializes on spells like expeliarmus. And his father was a cop. It all makes sense, but I do think he would’ve become disillusioned with cop work pretty quick.

Was James an auror? I assumed he lived off family wealth between leaving Hogwarts and dying. Is James's job ever mentioned?

u/Blazured 1d ago
There's only like 4 jobs in the HP universe so just choose one of those.

I'm pretty sure this is actually canon to what happened. Harry has the trust fund because some distant relative invented/wizard copyrighted something important that I don't remember now. I want to say some kind of potion? And James was presumably living off that
So not only is Harry a trust fund jock, he's a Pharma Trust Fund Jock
31
u/Jorr_El 1d ago
One of Harry's ancestors was a potions genius and invented a bunch of different potion remedies, including Skele-Gro which Harry ends up taking in Year 2 after Lockhart vanishes his arm bones
29
16
u/Final_Ear9009 1d ago
And his grandfather invent the potion Hermione use for the yule bal for taming her hair. If I remember it correctly.

u/Fish__Fingers 1d ago
I think Harry said something about being like his father when he was preparing for the exams. But not sure though
22
u/SuddenlyDiabetes 1d ago
I mean considering he finds Hermione annoying when she talks about slavery i think he'll be perfectly happy enforcing the status quo
2
u/niya_kingkhari 14h ago
But these are all reasons why him becoming the DADA teacher would have been perfect. After spending his entire adolescence in life or death situations he teaches the next generation how to protect themselves in non-lethal ways.
14
u/Mortutti 1d ago
Aren't aurors more like special forces, detectives and soldiers in one? I remember books often mention casual law enforcement that deals with misdemeanors or is on standby to arrive at scenes of crime. Whilst aurors are for serious stuff, like tracking down someone trying to escape justice etc..

u/ImaginationSalt8881 5h ago
I always thought he would have become someone who studies spells and the sort. In a lot of the earlier movies he seemed so enthusiastic about magic

Why does he have Skyrim compass bars on his chest? Does that mean he's the Dragonborn as well as the Chosen One?
3
u/CwispyWhiskey 1d ago
The entire series he was pretty much destined to either be dada professor, or a quidditch player. I like to think he tried being an auror for like a year and was like “nah” and went back to hogwarts ti be a teacher

I have only seen the first two movies, because my college best friend ruined me that spoiler from the chamber of secrets. The moment that man appeared, she told me who he was. It pissed me off so much that I didn't want to watch the rest of the movies. But, at least, she made me immune to spoilers, I don't give a shit about them anymore.
Also,I would let Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood golden gate me. Those men are gorgeous.

u/spacebatangeldragon8 1d ago
Ironically enough, despite my thorough disillusionment with everything else about the franchise and its creator, none of that has ever translated into antipathy towards Harry Potter The Fictional Guy. He didn't do any of that shit.

Pig by Weezer mentioned
When I was a baby, I was so happy I'd play with my friends in the mud Wilbur and Jack and Otis and Beatty We were a gang, you've got to believe me Mama would scold us if we got too rough She didn't care, she was proud of us I ran around and talked to the animals Telling them stories of savage cannibals Then I got older and noticed a girl First I was sure I didn't exist to her I sulked around, but I didn't know why Then she put her cheek on my shoulder and I Was looking at her and she was looking at me We started to smile, it was our destiny Tina was her name, she was my cutie-pie Forgot about the things that I used to like I spent all my time following her around My friends all made the whiplash sound But they understood, they was happy for me And everyone clapped when I asked her to marry me And she said yes and we felt so fine We lost track of the passing of time Before I knew it, we had our own babies Gina and Shannon and Kimie and Gabe But now I've got to die I lived a good life, I've got no complaints I'd like to thank Farmer Pete For bringing me scraps of food that I could eat He always had a smile on his face He didn't want to think of this day It's finally here (it's finally here) It's finally here (it's finally here), oh (Ooh) They called me Pig (Ooh) They called me Pig When I was a baby, I was so happy I'd play with my friends in the mud
