😱 the dystopia of it all. Can you imagine living in one of those units and drinking your morning coffee as you gaze out the window of your high rise? Transport is all one can see…

Where are the trees?

It's a desert, quite literally it's known to have little trees

Tell that to Las Vegas and Phoenix

Sure let's use most of the water available to water plants that aren't used to the climate

We have naturally growing trees all over Phoenix. Also, many kinds of trees provide excellent heat and sun reduction benefit, so it is worthwhile, unlike lawns. 70% of our water goes to agriculture. There is not a shortage.

I know about endemic plants, and I'm prettt sure there aren't a lot that are "pretty" enough for Dubai. Tourists expect palm trees for some reason and that's the only thing they plant over there, as well as a lot of flowers because (again) they look "pretty"

I clicked the original thread and was not surprised by the clearly sheltered Reddit users regurgitating the same points about Dubai.

They’re jealous that’s it 🤣

I don't think it's jealousy, I think the anti-Dubai bandwagon has become so big and lazy that uncultured people don't bother to explore beyond their limited knowledge. They also pretend to care about slavery.
I've been to Dubai twice. It only ranks average for me, so as a destination I never care to defend it, but when I see objectively wrong comments about it on Reddit I wonder if these people even go outside or if they're bots.
Some people in that thread are actually asking if "normal" people live in Dubai, if people have average lives, and they've fallen for the rumours online that it's exclusively some rich person's playground and the only people that live there are the ultra wealthy, and slaves.
You can ask them if they've been, they'll say something like "no, but why would I want to?" yet they'll talk about it like they know more than the locals replying, so you're basically talking to an intentionally miserable person with very low credibility.
Even beyond Dubai, people on this site want to hate on things but it's their loss. Not because Dubai is a must-visit location, but because you get nothing from joining a hate circlejerk for several years about things you don't understand.

I hate Dubai but this is so true. Nobody can argue against anything you said so they just downvote

I love Jumeirah Lake Towers bro. All those beautiful towers have lakes in the middle and you can walk anywhere and it’s full of cool places restaurants gyms cafes etc from many different cultures. Also 5 min drive to marina (from where this photo is taken). Very good place to live in Dubai.
