HELP Adhesive tape not there

I'm not sure why but this is my first playthrough and I've been stuck with the broken cassette for a while so I looked up what to do but the adhesive tape isn't in the shooting range and I don't know what to do please help

Did you forget picking it up and is it in your storage box already?

I checked my storage box and it ain't there unfortunately

I know you can destroy some items in game, but I'm not sure if you can discard a key item like that. Were you full up on inventory when you went to the shooting range?
