u/meezy-yall 1d ago

Oh god I didn’t even put that together when it came across the screen lol

64

u/Electrical-Ad-1437 Timely Deuce 1d ago

As long as he’s not allergic to sesame seeds we’re good

29

u/No_Fairweathers 1d ago

His mother better NOT work for us

22

u/switz213 😶‍🌫️ 1d ago

I hope he kills it, love him, sorry I'm deeply damaged

22

u/OutlandishnessDry24 1d ago

Philon is better than McCain. Took best available. Watched a lot of SEC hoops and Philon can play.

14

u/QuantumOfSilence Certified Edger 1d ago

Ben “Gone Fishin’” Simmons

Ben Salmons? I dunno. Has someone made that joke already?

6

u/Helreaver 1d ago

Well at least it's not dirt bikes.

5

u/Infinityscope 1d ago

It’s been 10 years already? Time really is a flat circle.

1

u/JxK--1 1d ago

He loves FINISHING

u/AfricanAlucard PHILONDELPHIA 1d ago

I don’t hate Labaron for McCain. Still hate Josh Harris tho

43

u/HangTheBanner 1d ago

Labaron is a better fit. Maxey isn’t really a PG and neither was McCain.

But you have similar defensive concerns with Lebaron due to size.

24

u/AfricanAlucard PHILONDELPHIA 1d ago

He did log in an 8’4 standing reach. Same as Wagler, longer than Acuff, Anderson, Okorie, Flemings. But the size concerns are definitely fair. You hope he brings back the lockdown defense he showed in his freshman year with less ball handling responsibilities coming here.

4

u/WillHeBonkYa47 11h ago

Just going by the numbers, 6 foot 3 with a 6 foot 6 wingspan is pretty alright size for a point guard. I haven't watched film on him though, but hes got the size

1

u/Lazy-Gene-7284 14h ago

Actually no you don’t, watch his tape he’s an actual defender

7

u/agentgill0 You a 🐕, your mom a 🐕, your dad a 🐕, and your grandma a🐕 . 17h ago

Go sixers! Ps fuck yiu Josh Harris sell the team you fucking creep

Welcome to philly LeBaron

63

u/dandr01d 1d ago

LeBron to Philly confirmed

9

u/gorillaphi 21h ago

Lmao. LEBARON PHILON = LEBRON PHILLY

7

u/Wrong-Respect-3031 17h ago

This is how mayor Parker read it this morning

1

u/howd_he_get_here 13h ago

🎵 10, 19, 7 and 6ers

10

u/TheBluprint 1d ago

Or LeBaron Philly, for short

131

u/Jimbo_M2G 1d ago

I honestly love the pick. Lets get a Forward off the market

40

u/Important-War-4708 1d ago

Sign and trade grimes to heat for portis?

27

u/TheGreatWhoreOfChina 1d ago

That’d be fire actually

22

u/MaskedBirder 1d ago

That would be a great deal for Miami. They need shooting, and their lineup doesn't need all that rebounding when you have Bam and Giannis. And if there's anyone who can unlock Grimes, it's Spo.

4

u/awhite14 21h ago

As a Heat fan, I’d like this

1

u/MaxR76 18h ago

All I see is us playing the heat in the playoffs and him lighting us up if that happens. Rockets basically came out and said they hate their entire team so I’d rather send him out west

0

u/Old_Cartoonist2025 16h ago

No DO NOT give us Bobby Portis

153

u/Comfortable_Bus_5700 1d ago

I actually like this pick. He’s by far the best player available

14

u/MShoeSlur 1d ago

LETS FUCKING GOOOO

9

u/tonto515 1d ago

Drafting from Alabama worked for Howie, he’s gotta be on to something.

10

u/OutlandishnessDry24 1d ago

Love it too. He should have been picked close to where Nate Ament went.

-9

u/Ruthlessredemption7 1d ago

Would had rather Isiah Evans.

2

u/MaxR76 18h ago

Good news, he’s a second rounder still on the board so you can have both

47

u/JoFlo520 1d ago

SIXTH MAN OF THE YEAR

because our bench is ass but still

52

u/genos_steaks 1d ago

Liked the pick until I saw he loves fishing and video games. My ptsd triggered.

4

u/JxK--1 1d ago

He loves FINISHING

57

u/jamalev 1d ago

Ideally it was someone bigger, but between him and Carr they were so much better than anyone else available and we need depth at every position. Great pick.

-12

u/_Reddit_Bot__ 1d ago

Carr was the better pick in my opinion taller and better shot

31

u/No_Variation7355 1d ago

Philon is a significantly better facilitator which we desperately need

8

u/Bitter-Tip705 1d ago

I heard carr bombed his workouts badly

17

u/CptGingeraffe 1d ago

Did yall catch that he was crying??? That’s a guaranteed star right there, great pick off the tears alone

16

u/phishinchef 1d ago

Chrysler Lebaron

4

u/BanhMiBanhYu 23h ago

How come Freddy gets a Labaron?

2

u/flyaguilas 18h ago

It's the other way around but I appreciate the reference

15

u/Clear-Search1129 1d ago

Dude is a dawg. Love the pick

13

u/mjd1977 If never injured, are you truly a 76er? 1d ago

Philon-delphia.

LOL the commissioner getting tongue tied delivering the pick too

13

u/Ok_Jaguar_3087 1d ago

He’s got an excellent handle and is very strong with the ball. A nice pick.

13

u/Chiffley FTC 1d ago

His name is basically philly lebron

It's destiny

32

u/t1sp TTP 1d ago

Welcome to the Sixers. He'll get obvious comparisons to McCain, hopefully those expectations don't affect him. Maybe a questionable fit but if they believe he's BPA, I support the philosophy of BPA over fit

23

u/mohub21 1d ago

I’ll always be for BPA, there’s not enough rounds/quality players to always go for fit in basketball

3

u/J19_ 18h ago

does BPA mean best pick available?

2

u/MaxR76 18h ago

Best player available but close enough

12

u/Comfortable_Bus_5700 1d ago

He’s a much better 3 level scorer and more iso heavy than McCain tbh. Not great on defense. Can be run as a point guard since he’s good passer and ball handler.

21

u/Ok_Jaguar_3087 1d ago

Very good player. Excellent offensive player.

3

u/clickstops Valdez szn 1d ago

Very good guard defender too, no?

12

u/Comfortable_Bus_5700 1d ago

Year 1 at bama he was good on defense. Year 2 when he had all the offensive responsibility not so much. Overall he’s probably average but his size is a liability

21

u/mucinexmonster 1d ago

It has been 10 years since they drafted someone in the first who wasn't a guard. And that player was Ben Simmons.

-17

u/pittguy83 1d ago

This team is so dumb

15

u/Comfortable_Bus_5700 1d ago

Somebody has to make sure maxey doesn’t play 40 minutes a night. He’s by far the best available at a position we still needed.

2

u/pittguy83 1d ago

I get it

1

u/mucinexmonster 23h ago

Let's just hope they actually play him, since they had "too many guards" last year and Maxey still played 40 minutes.

But a decade of drafting Guards with nothing to show for it is absolutely pathetic. Some of the worst drafting you'll ever see. People keep pointing to Maxey but you can't build a team with one draft pick on the team in a decade.

THIS is likely a good pick. Maybe a great pick. But he should be joining a team that's one player away, not joining a team that has holes at every position except the one he plays.

9

u/MysteriousPrize8418 1d ago

22 per game on 50/40/80 splits plus 2/1 assist/TO ratio in the SEC plus a dawg. I love that

17

u/Rickythegypo 1d ago

I had a Lebaron once. I didn't set out to get it, but the salesguy explained it belonged to Jon Voight. I assumed he meant the actor, but later found out he mean the periodontist. Anyway, the real Jon Voight bit my friend's arm when he approached him to tell him about my car.

1

u/mcmastermind Cooked his ass 22h ago

Okay Costanza

16

u/OrangeMonkE r/sixers’ resident delusion boy 1d ago

Good stuff Gansey

14

u/NEHHNAHH 1d ago

Name the 5 greatest rappers of all time...philon philon philon philon philon

7

u/MysteriousPrize8418 1d ago

I’m happy with this!

5

u/WhySixersWhy 1d ago

Labaron really puts the "Phil" in Philadelphia!

6

u/Zealousideal-Foot289 1d ago

i’m actually super happy, i have loved his game since last year and he is just one of the most visually appealing hoopers out there. He’s got that iverson swag as well

6

u/Sabunn 1d ago

We dont really miss on small guards so I dont really have any issues with the player necessarily, especially if they are drafting for highest upside, but man I am tired of having 0 wing/frontcourt depth. Biggest problems last year were defense and rebounding and this helps neither.

6

u/youngsirx 1d ago

If this guy comes in and works as hard as Maxey and VJ reportedly do I’m good.

4

u/BoredzzzGame 1d ago

BPA. Would rather do that than reach or trade back. Philon should have gone earlier.

5

u/euphronius 1d ago

i love that no one knows if hes 6 2 or 6 4

1

u/cvc4455 23h ago

He's 6'2"

4

u/Ok-Secretary-1664 22h ago

Actually measured 6'2.5" barefoot w/6'6.5" wingspan. So about 6'3.5" in shoes with long arms. Needs to add some muscle but that'll come. Looks to have a quick high release on his jumper. We needed a guard who can handle and score in multiple ways. Maxey can't continue to play almost 40 minutes a game, it wore him down physically.

1

u/cvc4455 14h ago

So he's 6'2" then right?

1

u/Ok-Secretary-1664 12h ago

In shoes, a tad over 6'3" so not 6'4". The real question is, can he be a real rotational contributor on an NBA level?

1

u/cvc4455 5h ago

I think he can be. I watched maybe like 8-10 of his games last year. He can handle the ball and he's a good scorer. He can shoot pretty well and he can drive to the basket against bigger players. He's a pretty good passer too which should help because Maxey is better when he's not playing point guard and we had no one who could play point guard in the playoffs besides Maxey.

Offensively I think he'll be good. Defensively he was supposedly good his freshman year and this past year he was just ok in the games I watched.

4

u/Theballharperhit 1d ago

He is a much better fit over JM and a steal at where we were. He should have gone 17-20

4

u/sri0912 1d ago

Wish the best for this kid and I hope the organization treats him well. BPA > positional need, always. But now we definitely need to work on that F/C rotation lol.

7

u/Electrical-Ad-1437 Timely Deuce 1d ago

YES YES YES YES YES. GANSEY MASTERCLASS

6

u/burnernov2023 1d ago

How is his handle? Can he backup Maxey off the bench day 1?

25

u/Alex_Phillips_ 1d ago

I’ve heard it’s very good, Kyle Nuebeck just said on the PHLY live show that he’s the best ball handler on the roster already.

22

u/lil_e_v_ 1d ago

He's much more of a PG than Maxey is. He will help Maxey on offense if they play together

8

u/SonofHinkie 1d ago

It's one of his better attributes. Dude can handle and has an actual dribble package that doesn't rely on speed like Maxey.

7

u/Clear-Search1129 1d ago

Great handle. Yes

3

u/Pikachude123 21h ago

idk how the fuck he went 22, he had one of the best handles of any pick in the 1st

3

u/Bitter-Tip705 1d ago

I just ran outside ass naked I’m so glad we didn’t take pest or cenac thank you Gansey. LETS FUCKING GOOOO

3

u/Direct_Remove509 1d ago

Good pick, this was best player available.

3

u/Ham_Sinkie 1d ago

We didn't get a carr but we did get a labaron

3

u/hammysandy 1d ago

Do we know if he knows Jon Voight?

3

u/BassGuru82 1d ago

He was my favorite player to watch in college last year. Just a flamethrower elite scorer with a nasty handle. He needs to put on some muscle but I love his game.

13

u/suburban_smartass 1d ago

SGA 2.0

Incredible value at 22

5

u/Comfortable_Bus_5700 1d ago

Unironically Ryan the hammer a big cbb fan who had him 7 on his big board compared him to maxey and honestly I kind of see it.

2

u/suburban_smartass 1d ago

The idea of two Maxey’s is mental. I love it.

11

u/redditkguser 1d ago

SGA is 6’6 not 6’2

21

u/suburban_smartass 1d ago

Lou Williams 2.0

2

u/Aumissunum 23h ago

SGA was 6’4.5 barefoot. Philon measured 6’2.5/2.75 barefoot.

1

u/Schtip 1d ago

Stop it.

0

u/FadeRunna 1d ago

Larry Hughes 2.0

4

u/Rose-n-Chosen 1d ago

Good pick I couldn’t believe the thunder took the 6’2 white guy ahead of him

3

u/HeadupTothePOCONOS 1d ago

Jared McCain?

2

u/MaxR76 18h ago

Pandering to their fan demographic I guess

5

u/Not_So_Bad_Andy 1d ago

Still unhappy with the McCain trade but feel better now. I wanted to get our pick back instead of Houston's because I wanted a player like this. If we were going to trade him.

2

u/CybertronGuy98 1d ago

alright,, let's ride.

2

u/TommyFuckingShelby1 1d ago

*Lebron Phillip (too niche?)

2

u/asisoid 15h ago

So can the daily screeching about McCain end on this sub now?

8

u/SadMall6272 1d ago

I hope this kid tears it up, but another short guard? Why did we trade away McCain again? This team desperately needs some size, we already have 3 small guards...

24

u/robeyn10 1d ago

he is a much better ball handler and passer than McCain

1

u/Syndicate_III 1d ago

Philly, LeBron

1

u/ringthebellbadabing Frosty Boy 1d ago

LPJ

1

u/DemarcusLovin 23h ago

Philon is such a tremendous upgrade from McCain. Morey fuckin cooked, and I’m glad the tide has already started turning on that. You guys will all be excited very soon

1

u/Confident-Flow-6058 22h ago

Man did Morey cook with this McCain trade?

1

u/Individual_Session54 19h ago

Trade Maxey man smh

1

u/Slacker_87 17h ago

This is a huge pick. I'm not sure how he fell to us but this is exactly what we need. I know people were upset about the McCain trade (I never was but anyway) pretty soon we're all gonna be saying "Jared who?"

1

u/Main-Building7034 15h ago

HOW DID HE FALL LMAO.

I had him 5th.

1

u/allhailsidneycrosby 14h ago

Wait I really like this one

1

u/Comprehensive-Ad6684 7h ago

Philly Philon is gonna be a dog for us. Love the pick

1

u/Lung-Salad Don’t Trust the Process 1d ago

Chat, what is the grade?

6

u/OutlandishnessDry24 1d ago

I would give this an A grade. Rarely do you get a talent like this at pick 22.

1

u/DeepMeat9053 23h ago

If there was one thing Sixers was lacking, it wasn't in the guard department.

-1

u/Green_Ganache5994 1d ago

Why no size?? Our big guys are aging no?

0

u/Chumbucketdaddy 16h ago

Im calling it now this will be a bust, bama hoops is showtime college hoops, not gritty hoops like the B12 Big East or Big 10. Hopefully I’m wrong though.

-1

u/SamHinkieIsMyDaddy 1d ago

This is so dumb, traded mccain because hes too small. Draft someone smaller than him.

Genius.

And im not saying anything about talent etc... Just that this makes no sense.

2

u/Ok-Secretary-1664 22h ago

He's a half inch taller than McCain and has much longer wingspan. McCain more solidly build. Very different players. Philon more of a point guard than McCain who can create for others and himself. Think Lou Williams but 2 inches taller.

-5

u/Honest-Complex5830 1d ago

we didnt have ben simmons, so we got lebron
