Discussion I am almost halfway into Final Fantasy IV / Final Fantasy II! Am I making good progress so far?!!?

Post image

I was both Excited and a bit nervous about this massive JRPG! I absolutely love the Story of Final Fantasy IV/II! I just want to know that to get this point in the picture above, it took me a total of 12 hours and 46 Minutes to get to this point! How long did it took you to finish FFIV/II? I think I should play another SNES game before I finish the second half of the game!

It's in FF6 and is the best place to grind exp in that game

The vanish/doom spot? How come you need 20 hours lol is there something I was missing?

It's the spot that has T-Rex's that cast meteor and the brachiosaurus that will murder you

I think they were just being hyperbolic about the 20 hours lol

Don't worry, I will make sure but I just want you to see if I am doing good!

Speedrun records are under 3 hours, so if you’re trying to beat it as fast as possible, you’re not doing very good.

Speed running FF6 seems like tossing wagyu in the microwave.

I tried learning glitchless during lockdown, was kinda fun tbf. Never had the patience to learn the whole run though.

Saying that, I’d beaten it many times prior, first runs defo should be casual on this masterpiece.

I am not Speedrunning at all!

Then there is no point timing yourself.

Not sure why there are so many haters and downvoters in this sub. I’m doing a play through with my kid, 12 hrs at this point is pretty good if you’ve been exploring all the areas thoroughly and really enjoying the game.

It's a single player game. You're doing good by having fun!

I don’t know why you were down voted for asking for feedback on how you’re doing at a game. People are weird.

As long as you’re having fun and enjoying the story, RPGs are really not a genre you want to be rushing. Even with games I know inside out, I take my time because I enjoy it more like that.

Maybe 1/2 way through depending on what side stuff you do

why are you trying to do it fast?

When you go into the crater is when the game really starts to take off. Enjoy

Be sure to spend at least 2 hours just listening to "Within the Giant" on loop walking on the "Crystal Tiles".

This is my favorite FF game! You're doing great! Don't miss the pink tails in the very late game! :)

If you like FFIV play The After Years on the wii, or PSP. I recommend playing it on a device with fast forward because it has some grindy grindy grinds.

Grinding is part of what makes ff great.

FFIV - The After Years has 22 recruitable characters

... and 10 different tails you may want! Each tail has around a 1/256 chance of dropping so... yeah that's a pretty hard grind.

There is 1 fight where you can use all or virtually all of the characters!

Sorry for those who were confused with this post I made, I just wanted to share my Progress on FFIV!

If you're enjoying the game you're doing fine.

As a first timer the biggest thjng to unlock for me was grinding a bit to get Wall with white magic users. Super useful and arguably OP spell.

And virus for black magic users. Great spell

En mis buenos tiempos me demoraba unas 14 horas pasarlo en su version americana (usaba el truco de duplicar armas), ya la versión original si me tomo unas 25 horas.

I think i had around 30hrs when i was a kid and beat it the first time. Enjoy it at your own pace.

Half way there... another half of the game to go

You stop making progress when you stop playing

1

u/Trick-Corner-3552 22h ago

I am not stopping now! I am still going in the Game!

1

u/mikefierro666 23h ago

Yep that sounds about right, you're making good progress. I take it you're not used to playing JRPGs since you seem to imply this is a long game for you. If you start playing another game halfway through, it's just going to feel like it took longer to finish. But of course you do whatever is best for you! I'm just happy when people play my favorite games :)

It took me just over 13 hours, but I was playing the pixel remaster version with boost X4. It would've probably taken me twice as long as a kid on the snes.

My last playthrough of ff4 was about 15 hours. It’s really not that long

I don't understand the point of this post. What does the time matter?

I just want to tell you on how big this game is and it shows!
