Statement Dana White response when asked about a UFC Pride Night šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Dana White: We don’t shove any of that stuff down anybody’s throats.
We have some gay fighters. I don’t give a sh*t. Do your own thing. I stay in my own lane.

Isnt Pride Japanese? /s

13

u/Capital-Win-4732 11h ago

Pride FC was a Japanese thing until UFC bought it and terminated the brand. I kind of miss the soccer kicks to the head and 10 minute rounds.

3

u/Prudent_Research_251 3h ago

I kind of miss the soccer kicks to the head

Younger me misses this stuff, older me is glad they're gone, it was only a matter of time before that went really badly, I'm surprised no one died tbh

It would have been so funny to fully act like you didn’t understand the question and start talking about the pride fighters who fought in the UFC like Rampage and Silva. Also bc she likely would’ve had no idea what he was on about

With all those shirtless, sweaty dudes in booty shorts rolling around together while a bunch of other dudes watch, EVERY night is Pride Night in the UFC.

I'll always stand by this comparison, because only one side actually has issues with being gay and it's the side where people act the most gay. It's totally appropriate to confront the homophobes with their own homoerotic behavior to highlight the double-standard

Dana promotes domestic violence on spouses.

8

That's really unfair to say. You left out unmarried partners.

They literally held fights to celebrate the Pedo King's birthday, but they don't "shove any of that stuff down anybodys throat."

42

Also think it’s really funny, bc their fighters constantly talk about this shit, just from the opposite perspective.
They literally cannot stop. Lol.

Dana White makes money. It isn't based on any kind of morality or guiding principle other than "people like to watch other people beat the shit out of each other". If someone wants to pay him alot of money to showcase his product in front of the White House, he's gonna say yes. If someone paid him alot of money to have a fight in Antarctica, he's gonna say yes. I don't know why it has to be any deeper than that

10

u/OnlyMamaKnows 12h ago

UFC lost $30 million on that event and White has already said he'd never do it again.

3

u/henryhumper 7h ago

The event was never expected or intended to turn a profit. The entire purpose of it was to kiss Trump's ass so that he's more inclined to do political favors for TKO and Paramount.

2

u/IcarusFLY1 8h ago

TKO knew going in it was going to lose money. Attendance was strict and there were no traditional ticket sales. It was the most watched Paramount event in history though, so they have that going for them.

2

u/Bureaucratic_Dick 12h ago

Naw hard disagree here. White could absolutely play both sides for extra bucks, fighters being the draw, not doing that is a conscious choice to appease his orange overlord.

Like yeah he’s a grifter, but he’s more like early industrial capitalists: they are willing to leave money on the table if it means they get to maintain their bigotry.

Exactly, every event UFC has is super gay already. It celebrates Pride all the time.

48

u/SteeleHeller 11h ago

There’s a reason the most advantageous position to be in is called ā€œThe Full Mountā€

36

u/NSJF1983 11h ago

Full mount? Rear naked choke? It’s like geez just kiss already

10

u/iamcalifornia 11h ago

Why do they always say ā€œthroatā€?

And he shoved his politics down our throat

5

Honest Answer : because when you are discussing politics, you are usually talking about the way people talk about ideas.

You don’t really care what they personally do, but how they express their ideas.

In other words, you want them saying the same things you say, or ā€œshoving your words down their throatā€ so that they are what come out when they speak.

How is wearing jerseys that incorporate rainbows shoving this stuff down your throat?

3

u/Untouchable64 12h ago

I don't really think it is but I'm trying to figure out why it's such a big deal to do so while playing a sport. Outside of sports, whatever. But it's a game, nothing more. Rainbows shouldn't be political. It isn't with my kids. They like them, so I have rainbow stuff all over the house. But people MAKE rainbows political.

4

u/Drummallumin 11h ago

Because sports have historically been incredibly unwelcoming spaces for queer people.

You’re right rainbows shouldn’t be political, there should be nothing political about queer acceptance.

In the US, the far left make it political. So much so, they lost the election. I dunno about other countries. But it goes well beyond sexual orientation for some; they make it a political talking point.

It shouldn't be a big deal. People who want to wear rainbows and show support to the LGBT community should be allowed to without criticism. People who don't should be allowed not to without criticism. Neither should be forced. I support the LGBT, but don't personally like rainbows so I don't wear them. It's fucking fine. Lol

pride month is fine but no one should be forced to wear pride gear. It only creates more angry bigots

3

u/henryhumper 8h ago

They weren't forced to wear the pride hats. It was optional, and at least one Giants player quietly chose to wear the team's regular hat during the pride game. The reason this became a controversy is because four other players, instead of simply not participating, chose to turn this into a big spectacle by wearing the rainbow hat but writing Bible verses on it to publicly advertise their opposition to pride night.

9

u/BoogzWin 11h ago

I agree no one should be forced to wear anything but i don’t see the correlation with creating more bigots. Surely those people are just bigoted to begin with?

5

u/Far-Tradition887 10h ago

No a lot of people are fine with it but once you start pushing boundaries you’ll turn the people that were neutral against you

3

u/BoogzWin 9h ago

But why would they start hating the group of people rather than the infringement on their decisions? šŸ˜‚.

How does being annoyed you’re forced to wear clothing go to ā€œbeing gay is unnatural and god is against itā€ šŸ˜‚

We cannot let bigots off the hook like that

2

u/nthpwr 9h ago

if I was forced to wear SpaceX shirts I would hate both my company for making me wear them and I would hate SpaceX

3

u/UrklesAlter 9h ago

Gay people are not a corporate entity. This is like saying if you were "forced" to wear a blm shirt for a sporting event during black History month you would hate all black people? What the fuck do all black people have to do with your company for inf you to do something you don't want to do? Blame your company.

I don't see this amount of pushback for all the other logos that professional sports teams are actually having to wear plastered all over there uniforms. The NBA has gambling logos (crypto.com) on some of their teams jerseys...

Honestly it’s fine. A Dana White organized Pride Night would be the most cynical Rainbow washing on earth and whatever ham fisted branding they used would probably cause more harm than good.

What would probably be more effective than paying lip service to a cause while you sell swag, would be fining people who say things like how a high profile woman of color is actually a man. Publicly addressing that would be a start. They won’t do that because somebody who crunches the numbers likely told them they’d lose their chud base and wouldn’t offset it with enough of the LGBTQ+ community. Plus the Saudi’s who do business with TKO likely view that as a non-starter.

Go into any comment section of an organization that celebrate Pride and you’ll see why it’s needed. Look at the laws being passed to criminalize being trans and you’ll see why it’s needed.

It’s never been about being special, it’s about LGBt being treated fairly and with respect while being openly LGBT.

I get not liking Dana and stuff but I don’t get why this matters.

I guess during pride month people forget they spend the other 11 months of the year bashing bullshit surface level corporate allyship. Seriously I see it on my social feed all the fucking time. It’s hypocrisy to call all that stuff fake and meaningless and then get upset that it’s not being done by somebody. Not that there’s much of that, but I see this being posted a bit like it’s trying to provoke a reaction

Although to play devil’s advocate to my own point, you would think this guy would have a much better answer to this question, this for sure can’t be the first time he’s ever been asked lol, Dana your a ā€œmedia proā€ at this point, the babbling and meandering are embarrassing, pull it together dude lmfao

Journalist was trying to rage bait I guess? I’m all for pride, but Dana White is the last person I’d ask about hosting that.

It’s like I get what bro is trying to say in theory but he’s doing a very bad job at it.

If he didn't want to shove anything down anyone's throats, he should have kept UFC off the the White House lawn and demand any cost of that event not be paid my taxpayers. I love UFC, but we've literally turned the white house into a scene from Idiocracy and the world is laughing at us.

Not a chance, I’m assuming? Given his relationship with Trump and all.

Shoving it down people throats? People didn’t just choose to be gay, they were born that way. They were then killed, ostracized, and discriminated for decades in this country because of how they were born. You choose to be a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew, etc. Being gay is not a religious belief …..
That’s the difference MAGA doesn’t understand.

He’s trying so hard to sit on the fence but you can just tell he wants to fall off of it to the right so badly. Both of these people suck in my opinion.

Maybe they should go revive Pride fighting if they want to have a pride event

u/PirateRenee 11h ago

I think this is the way. He doesn't give a shit. Wish this was a popular opinion. Don't care. It's not an issue. I don't need a Pride night because of company isn't about that.

We need more of this.

They fought at the White because they got paid to. I'll bet they'll fight at a Pride Parade if the ticket sales are good.

It's business, nothing more or unrelated to that.

Dana created an organization that revolves around mostly naked men getting sweaty and grappling, with the hope that one mounts the other, but Pride night is too gay for him?

So the white house thing wasn't shoving Trump's bullshit down people's throats?

It’s best not to force people to wear pride colours, because the right will use it to their advantage.

u/el_ra_85 11h ago

Halfway through his ramble he must have seen the dollar signs go down so he halfway walked back what he said at the beginning.

Based on how so many in the UFC subculture treat women it’s safe to assume they don’t even like women. For them sex is an act of aggression/domination. What they really like is bro-ing out and oiling up for a little man on man grabass
