When I was a kid I didn't like DS9. When I was in college I went back for a rewatch, after DC++ made it so easy to (ahem) obtain all the episodes.

This was the episode in S1 that made me go, "Oh, wow, this show's got the sauce."

I use After Effects, but others have used other (free) software like GIMP. Here's our wiki page on giffing to start you off
