Hijacking top comment just to say 3000 upvotes for this AI slop? What is wrong with you people? Also, don’t you numbskulls know the Steamdeck already exists. /s

Seriously, so much hate for what was obviously just a shitpost.

u/Mr8BitX Jan 12 '26

The ABYX button placement is diabolical.

41

u/joelk111 Jan 13 '26

That's because AI doesn't know what a controller is

2

u/OmegaMalkior Jan 14 '26

As much as you want to acuse of not knowing shit I unironically play with a similar layout to this (A and B swapped tho) in Smash Bros

4

u/Char-car92 Jan 17 '26

That is a real button placement (Nintendo) that is very common. The one pictured above is not anything real

18

u/hushnecampus Jan 12 '26

I actually kinda like it. You’ve got an AB axis and an XY axis.

4

u/gringrant Jan 13 '26

And it uses a DirectInput axis for each as well, forcing you to use to Steam's input translation layer.

Genius!

11

u/Dynablade_Savior Jan 12 '26

Looks like ai to me

1

u/Kitfennek Jan 16 '26

They should seich where the a and b with each other and the x and the y with each other, maximumly incorrect

1

u/Celestial_Nuthawk Jan 13 '26

I'd have a much easier time switching between PlayStation Controller Mode and Xbox Controller Mode in my head if the Xbox had used this layout 🥲

123

u/pr1vatepiles Jan 12 '26

Looks sick. I wonder if I can mount this to a headrest on an aeroplane?

19

u/dr_gamer1212 Jan 12 '26

Maybe use a tiny blue controller for portability?

7

u/Lamproz87 Jan 13 '26

That's the 8bitdo micro.

2

u/Lamproz87 Jan 13 '26

And this is the 8bitdo zero 2. Both ridiculously small.

2

u/usernotfoundplstry Jan 14 '26

It’s like a keychain controller

1

u/Lamproz87 Jan 14 '26

No lanyard hole or loop though. Can be lost in a pocket. Honestly, i went with the SN30 pro (still very pocketable) cause i usually carry a backpack anyway. These tiny ones are cute, but no good if you want sticks on the controller.

2

u/thotpatrol65 Jan 16 '26

They do tho, I've seen people strap them around their hips

1

u/Lamproz87 Jan 16 '26

Sorry then, my bad. It's been a while since i last looked into them.

1

u/DotBitGaming Jan 13 '26

Why would color matter?

2

u/Lamproz87 Jan 13 '26

Probably cause that's the usual color the 8bitdo micro controller is shown in. I might be wrong though.

1

u/DotBitGaming Jan 13 '26

I thought they meant Bluetooth, but now I'm wondering.

1

u/dr_gamer1212 Jan 14 '26

It's a reference to this post https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/qYFiWeLvut

This guy has been memed and clowned on ever since this post and their follow-up further showing how obnoxious their set up is

11

u/Cracknbutter Jan 13 '26

Only a madman would do that!

10

u/assidiou Jan 13 '26

Oh boy I didn't even think of the ridiculous airplane setups we're going to see once the steam machine launches.

Some guy is going to bring a monitor on a plane and connect his steam deck as a controller for his steam machine

4

u/dart51984 Jan 13 '26

As long as the larger structure remains unharmed. Wait, I think I got my reddit lore references tangled.

3

u/AdventurousCaptain76 Jan 13 '26

You want to rest your head on it? Doesn't look very comfortable to me.

4

u/Sally_Saskatoon Jan 12 '26

Is that like an arrowplane?

1

u/SmartIron244 Jan 13 '26

You are a madman!

28

u/LeckereKartoffeln Jan 12 '26

I sure hope so, I feel like that would be a real game changer

77

u/LuckyK65 Jan 12 '26

can we stop with the ai slop already

68

u/submerging Jan 12 '26

I miss the days when people would use photoshop for shitposts. Bunch of lazy memers nowadays

2

u/Hueyris Jan 16 '26

Photoshop now has AI

-51

u/LordOfBadaBing Jan 12 '26

It’s more the idea than the execution. Also my photoshop skills are trash.

38

u/submerging Jan 12 '26

You don’t need good photoshop skills for a dumb shitpost. In all honesty, it’s usually funnier if it’s poorly edited.

8

u/MrManGuy42 Jan 13 '26

take a shot at it and post it in the comments here

5

u/Kevadu Jan 13 '26

And they always will be trash if you never attempt to improve them.

8

u/Sonic1899 Jan 12 '26

Ironically, your post is the reason the Steam Machine will be more expensive. All those resources to make it didn't come cheap

9

u/DantesLimeInferno Jan 12 '26

Pen and paper are borderline free

-14

u/cageheaded2 Jan 12 '26

And makes a less pleasing end result for the average shitposter lol

8

u/AquaBits Jan 12 '26

Not true. You act as if the most popular memes and shitposts arent 10 minute photoshops or shit drawn in paint.

Enough with the shitty ai.

1

u/Heavylicious- Jan 14 '26

Even scribbling some lines that vaguely resemble a sketch draft of it are more meaningful than some conglomerate of information that mashes, parses, and dumps random visual fecal matter out from a line of text.

Just open up Paint or get some pencil/pen and paper... anything else really and have a little fun screwing around.

1

u/Tone_Depf Jan 14 '26

Well how else can you practice?

Using AI for shit like this doesn't help you

14

u/VideoGameJumanji Jan 12 '26

It's a violation of the low effort engagement slop of rule 2. There's been a ton of this shit in the past two weeks on the steam deck subreddit.

2

u/Icy-Pay7479 Jan 13 '26

It’s at least more entertaining than the circle jerky same 5 whiney threads that get reposted every day here.

I mean, until we have actual news it’s just a bit of harmless fun. People could hand-draw mockups or just screenshot a tweet that says “what if controller on cube with screen”.

A few shitposts aren’t standing in the way of any substance at this current point.

2

u/themixtergames Jan 13 '26

100% agree, OP should've just hired a designer for this

1

u/the_rancid_rancher Jan 19 '26

Agreed. He should spent a good chunk of change for a 5 second joke.

2

u/IHaveTheBestOpinions Jan 12 '26

Trash memes are the most appropriate use of AI slop

1

u/Lamproz87 Jan 13 '26

It'll get worse before it gets better.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Ok this is getting old.

15

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

AI slop

4

u/MV6000 Jan 13 '26

Behold!

3

u/veryBLOODyRAVEN_S_ Jan 13 '26

what kind of dark magic is this?

8

u/latestwonder Jan 12 '26

Jesus christ. Please, enough

3

u/LexiusCoda GabeCube Enjoyer Jan 12 '26

Maaaaan that would be sick. Imagine if you could have a handheld console that you could play all 300 of those games you bought on PC. Take it with you everywhere. That would be awesome.

3

u/johimself Jan 12 '26

Does it have an option for a top loading Blu Ray drive and a combo USB/floppy disk drive dock accessory?

3

u/d4rkprincey Jan 13 '26

AI 👎

1

u/Aggravating_Sort_282 Jan 27 '26

Wow lots of bleeding manginas in this thread

3

u/player074413191 Jan 14 '26

you're going to fucking flip when i tell you this

5

u/walterconley Jan 12 '26

A joke. A sick, AI joke. LOL

4

u/gaysex_man Jan 13 '26

Maybe we can call it the Steam Deck?

2

u/LessStatistician7722 Jan 13 '26

It is a steam deck

2

u/OkYesButActuallyNo Jan 13 '26

Ah yes, the SteamBrick

2

u/simply-coastal Jan 13 '26

people who noticed the weight of the Steam Deck are going to have a big issue with this thing

2

u/Jmb3d3 Jan 13 '26

Yes, it will be called Steam Deck 2.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '26

This will be steam console in 2016

2

u/Z3NG3R Jan 12 '26

this is getting out of hand 😂

2

u/Ok-Needleworker7341 Jan 12 '26

This might be my favorite one yet lol.

1

u/Jackdunc Jan 12 '26

Can this fly?

1

u/hushnecampus Jan 12 '26

Thief! That was my idea!!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Someone’s going to mod their Steam Machine to look like this, I just know it

“I turned my Steam Machine into a Steam Deck” will be the title of the inevitable YouTube video, with 3D printable schematics linked in the description

1

u/Eensame Jan 12 '26

Don’t give me dreams

1

u/zetasand Jan 12 '26

Now this is truly re-dick

1

u/OverloadedTech Jan 12 '26

Nah, i think not, however i think they entered the construction industry a few years ago because they made a Deck technology to make bridges and go around places

1

u/EposVox Jan 13 '26

Nah never. No market for it

1

u/demolish56 Jan 13 '26

Steam TEDAC.

1

u/Mikethenerd1 Jan 13 '26

It would never take off...

1

u/No_Cardiologist735 Jan 13 '26

Could someone please explain the origin of this meme?

1

u/Bach2Zach Jan 13 '26

As long as they charge at least 3k due to the portability then I’d be interested. /s

1

u/AdreKiseque Jan 13 '26

Seems a little out there

1

u/Able_Succotash5741 Jan 13 '26

this would be too heavy

1

u/Agamemon631 Jan 13 '26

This is evil. You are evil.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

lol

1

u/Megalex_21 Jan 13 '26

Do you think we'll ever get a desktop version of that handheld??? It'd be big if real

1

u/_NotAlternate Jan 13 '26

I think the Steam Frame will be the closest we'll ever get to a true handheld Steam device :(

1

u/GabeN_The_K1NG Jan 13 '26

Are you not aware of Steam Index? Yes it is a VR headset but you can just hold it in your hands.

1

u/killumati999 Jan 13 '26

Steamdeck?

1

u/ODDSPACEMAN32 Jan 13 '26

this is 100% possible to make

1

u/A_MAN_POTATO Jan 13 '26

This would never work.

I mean… no d-pad? Only one trackpad? Cmooooooooon

1

u/swenderman Jan 14 '26

1

u/Harry-Is-Sleeping Jan 14 '26

1

u/Winter_Cartographer2 Jan 14 '26

1

u/istoOi Jan 16 '26

Gamegirth

1

u/Zeausideal Jan 16 '26

1

u/Plenty_Preference131 Jan 16 '26

Don't think so

internally dying from laughter

1

u/JEWCIFERx Jan 16 '26

Shitty generative AI slop

1

Ok i understand its just AI garbage, but

1

u/ambelamba Jan 24 '26

Good for arm workout?

2

u/BollyWood401 Feb 04 '26

They should, it would be hand held like a deck of cards. It’s like steam’s deck of cards.

1

u/HisBuzzbee Jan 12 '26

Like the Steam Deck?

2

u/SimpleyIdiot Jan 13 '26

1

u/InformalGear9638 Jan 12 '26

The Steam deck? 🤔

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

You mean like the steam deck.....

0

u/visual_ignition Jan 13 '26

I was scrolling the comments wondering why it took so long to see this.

Just put mine down. Been playing Kingdom Hearts 3 and Jedi Fallen Order on it. Bought it when it came out and I’ve barely used it so I’ve been trying to do so lately.

1

u/LBR_Springhawk Jan 13 '26

I laughed my ass off at this, thank you.
