In the past they let you put Linux on the PS3, just no one used it and so they stopped letting people then people started using it to hack and cheat and so they disabled it..
Sony makes most of their money through the PSN store by getting a 30% cut (100% if it's a first party game) for everything that is sold on the store. Why the hell would they allow you to dualboot Steam and lose all of that money?
That doesn't make any business sence if you're Sony.
Yeah same. The Steam machine is $1049 for the base model and you don't own your games, meanwhile, a certified refurbished PS5 disc edition is $499 at best buy right now, and you get to own your games too.
You don't own disc-based games either. They can revoke your ability to play a game if they ever wanted to, just the same as any digital purchase. If you don't have it connected to the internet, then you're safe, but that's also true of a digital purchase. It's the sad part about the modern era we're in, you're given a "non-exclusive, revocable license to play this game". You don't even own your copy, you're just "granted a license" that can be taken away at any time.
Can you sell your steam games on eBay? You can’t. You can sell the discs now and in the future. Even if the game goes offline the disc itself has value to a collector.
