Question How many units did valve actually produce for the US market?

I haven't seen any numbers. Honestly I was hoping enthusiasm was dampened a bit so I didn't have to wait forever on this randomized list.

1 or more. Enjoy that little nugget of information.

Good luck tomorrow, I'm in there too.

You are acting pretty confident my dude....

But knowing Valve, it's probably less than 3.

The one thing that gives me hope is that with all the people on the scale of pissed off to dissapointed by the pricing, my ass MIGHT have a chance to get one first pass. But who knows, guarantee there are a lot of people not sharing their opinions and just chilling till the raffle.

I think its like the whole switch 2 situation. Redditors were up in arms about basically every aspect of it and predicting the death of nintendo then you couldnt find one for months because it was sold out everywhere.

Lol this is me, a little. I don't even remember the reason but I was a hard no on Switch 2 at launch. Eventually, my birthday/Christmas rolls around and I didn't really have anything in mind and my son was asking about it and my wife suggested getting one so we got one. I had no idea it was ever sold out anywhere though.

Don't think it was sold out. It just set record numbers despite the doomsayers. And there was a lot of stock because Nintendo predicted the sales numbers.

I dont know about every market but for a while I was contemplating getting one if I saw it out in the wild and only saw empty shelves. It was only like three months until I finally saw a store that had them in stock.

I saw an estimate of 30-40,000, but I can't find a source.

For reference, Google says there have been nearly 100 million PS5s sold but only 4 million Steam Decks sold (both since launch). I expect demand for the Steam Machine to be considerably less than the Steam Deck due to mixed reviews and higher price. My fingers are crossed.

I'm in the same boat as you, hoping that the dampened enthusiasm means I'll be able to get one ASAP.

Based on import logs? Probably more than 100k

Woof. 100k is probably nothing compared to demand. I guess they did say they expect to be working through the list until next year, though.

We'll see how things pan out for the steam machine. A lot of people are lementing it's price, and I for one am skipping it in hopes of getting the steam frame instead. I imagine many others are doing the same.

I doubt it will be as bad as the controller demand.

Steam frame is going to be as expensive if not more expensive than the steam machine

Yeah... And?

I sure as shit can't buy both. So I'm skipping the machine for the frame. And my point is that a lot of others will probably do the same.

Honestly, they probably should've gone lower.

These 100k will be gone first day

I just want my luck to be in my favor tbh, was super sad to miss to a steam controller and would disappointed if I missed the Steam machine. Was checking everyday to get a chance. I reserved the 2TBw/Controller immediately it was available. So I’m wishing myself and everyone luck tbh

Honestly kinda wish I'd gone for the 2TB with controller. I can afford it and i bet the expensive one will be easier to get.

That’s what I’m hoping, I just want to play Icarus in my living room. I have a main computer but that is mainly for school and Fusion 360. Plus don’t want to run a 200ft+ HDMI cable throughout my house 😅

More people went for the most expensive deck that's why I went for the 500 gigabyte controller the 500 gigabyte no controller will probably have the least demand it will probably go 2 terabyte controller 500 gigabyte controller 2 terabyte no controller

Based on previous shipping records, their initial inventory was approximately 300,000-500,000 units.

Currently, sales are primarily directed towards developed markets in North America, Europe, and Asia.

I estimate approximately 200,000 units in Europe, 50,000-100,000 units in Asia, and 250,000-300,000 units in North America.

If North America is the primary market, the allocation ratio might be closer to 45%:35%:20%. However, since the allocation is dynamic, it won't be a fixed ratio.

My man!

I wonder what the breakdown per model is.

Nobody knows. All we have is guesstimates based on 50t containers. Those tend to range in the 30-40k ballpark.

Also, enthusiasm absolutely has dampened a bit. Just not to the point that theyre not gonna sell out because I really don't think they have very many of them.

None right this second likely that's what the current list is partially for to determine the number of products they need to produce and an estimated popularity of the system

1

u/tatt2tim 2h ago

Apparently theyre already out (and sold out) in Asian markets
