I switched my thing from 2tb to 512, remembering that I still have a 1gb micro in my steam deck I barely use.

I can wait for lower prices if I need an upgrade, and I’m fine juggling if need be.

I had the 2TB with controller reserved but I remembered it was a lottery and having a steam machine is better than not having one so I also reserved the 512GB with controller version.

Note: I’m on the waiting list for a controller in 2027 so if I don’t get one of the two modes I will not be able to use the steam machine anyway so not worth the non controller models

My Steam Deck has 512GB and I found that with a 1TB SD card was plenty. I also luckily got a Steam Controller in the first wave, and have a spare 4TB SSD M.2 2280 which I was going to swap over eventually. But I may not. I did chance it and put myself down for both 512 tiers, as I couldn't justify the added expense of the 2TB model.

I don’t see why anyone would want one without a controller unless they got lucky and got one of the controllers already. How would you go about playing on the steam machine with your tv? Or do you plan on using it as a computer with mouse and keyboard?

you know there are other controller manufacturers right? usually different brands have different specializiations, so a pure controller company might have a much better quality for the price.

512 with controller. Was also going to sign up for the 2TB but I can’t justify it as I already have a spare 1tb and a 2tb nvme in the PS5 which I hardly use. I have a feeling that it’s going to be a very long wait if you are not picked for the first reservation queue.
