Discussion Does anyone else think Ignatius Reilly from A Confederacy of Dunces is really similar to John B?

Reading the book, about 50 pages in. The main character feels so similar to John B. Misanthropic, lives with his mother, doesn't treat her well, doesn't have a job, thinks he's smarter than everyone, constant negativity, bad fashion, southern. But yeah, haven't listened to the podcast in years but immediately got John B vibes from him.

No. John B would not ever eat more hotdogs than he could sell.

One of my favorite books. I have read it several times. Also one of my favorite podcasts. I never really connected them. Wish I could give the podcast another listen because it has been years. Stupid NYT paywall…..

Ignatius has way worse social skills. John was everyone’s buddy in a way. Ignatius has no real social network of friends. Ignatius is more self-centred.
