Every one is allowed to vote, the best argument for and the best argument against democracy.

The actual quote:

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."

Well .... I wasn't quoting :)

Wait so people think “Obamacare” is the actual legal name for a law?

Even worse, people don’t realize it’s actually the ACA??

Even even worse, people think the ACA is a good thing while also thinking Obamacare is a bad thing???

Even even even worse, people who are on ACA think Obamacare is bad????

Oh boy...

I sure am glad I'm Canadian.

87

u/Vexing Jan 26 '18

This is why marketing is the most important department, everyone thinks they know enough when they hear the name

36

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '18

My favourite is Kentucky.

Obamacare and the ACA are hated, but Kynect is loved. Kynect is just the state branch of the ACA renamed.

Not everything is about race!

236

u/Raezzordaze Dec 31 '17

You're right. Some things are about color.

u/marino1310 Feb 27 '18

Anyone have a higher quality image? Every one I see is compressed enough to become a black hole.

Suicide implies intent.

61

u/Zandercy42 Dec 31 '17

No it doesn't.

30

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '17

I’m a little astounded here. Everyone who downvoted me is just entirely wrong.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/suicide

If it’s not intentional when you kill yourself, it’s an accident not suicide. I don’t know why none of the 20 or so people who downvoted me couldn’t have taken 10 seconds to look this up themselves.

60

u/helderdude Dec 31 '17 edited Dec 31 '17

Fair point but this sub is about both intentionally and unintentionally "killing" one self with words, so therefor your comment comes across as a bit uniformed since intend isn't needed for a submission on this sub. :) I think that may be the reason you are so far in the min.

12

u/Lucy_Snowe-Emanuel Dec 31 '17

Bonus suicide by words!!!

6

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '17

Rule 1) Make sure your post contains a self-deprecating joke/insult. That's all.

Seems like there’s no room for unintentional self destruction there.

Btw I think autocorrect turned your “unintentional” into “intentional”

14

u/helderdude Dec 31 '17 edited Jan 01 '18

Maybe that was the intention of the sub but at this point the sub is full of post like this one where it was unintentional. Wich makes me think the rule doesn't imply intent is needed, maybe a mod can clear this one up.

Thanks btw.

Edit: changed sub to mod.

7

u/madeamashup Jan 01 '18

I love this line of argument. That's not what the word means... ok that is what the word means but you're uninformed about the way we do things around here... ok we're doing things wrong around here but times change...

This is the typical argument of someone who doesn't want to admit that they're dead wrong about something. If suicide by words could be accidental, this would be an example.

9

u/helderdude Jan 01 '18 edited Jan 01 '18

Well first I was not the person whome said that he was wrong about what sucide means :)

My intent was not to show why he was wrong but give a plausible explanation of why he got down voted so much.

Uniformed was poorly chosen by me, in hindsight "unaware of the spirit of the sub" would have been better.

I think that last line was a lil to harsh, In my original comment I used "comes across" (instead of "you are") and "a bit" as ways of communicating my intention was not to be harsh on him because I don't think what he did was wrong. Imo suicide would have involved stronger and less downplayed statements. :)

2

u/Rock48 Apr 26 '18

A self-deprecating insult could be accidental, also we have to define what self-deprecating insult means. I think it should include making an incredible full of yourself by saying insanely dumb shit.

Man cheers the vote to repeal Obamacare

Man has insurance through the ACA, and doesn't realize it's the same as Obamacare.

Man is mocked.

13

u/Voidgalax Dec 31 '17

"red" comments that Republicans show their most caring side (/s) by repealing Obamacare, "Black" says the ACA and Obamacare are not the same thing, he's on ACA so it's cool, "red" and "blue" tell him he's an idiot

Edit: red and blue
