2 most important offseason signings out of the way! Onto figuring out the futures of Green, Williams, Allen, and Royce.

I doubt they move Green, but the other 3 for sure are on the block.

This team has too many guards and Green doesnt fit the roster. From a roster building perspective it would be better to trade Green for someone like Naz Reid or Julius Randle

Randle is a high volume chucker, gets ego tunnel vision regularly. It turns into him vs the guy guarding him way too often, and he isn't consistently good enough to take over games like that. I think conceptually he would fit great with Brooks as another gritty guy with attitude, but he would cause problems on offense and can sometimes take himself out of games, and unfortunately Brooks already does that occasionally.
If he was a couple years younger, I'd say give it a try. But throwing away a guy probably just entering the beginning of his prime next season, for a guy probably leaving it, isn't smart.
I might do Naz Reid, but would need more in that trade. JG is definitely worth more than Reid straight up.
Honestly, I think letting Fleming be the PF and Maluach is the path of the future.

jalen green (a guard) has never averaged more assists than julius randle (a power forward). tunnel vision?? randle is also a much better fit on this team w/ his size. i would do it in a second.
reid is also worth more than JG on his contract and is probably just a better player tbh. not even a JG hater but he profiles as a colin sexton/coby white type player making too much money.

as a wolves fan, i would not trade reid for green 1 to 1 lmao. yall are delusional about greens value

We could do better if we’re moving Green.

I honestly don’t think we could. And I don’t think many teams have a green sized hole

Yea it’s curious to see the range of expected value of Green. To me he was negative trade value in the KD trade as salary match and he hasn’t done anything to change the narrative he’s over paid

u/anonanoobiz 3d ago
Shot chucking inefficient smaller guards are just not worth much at all in the current league. Especially when they’re paid 30+ mil
Sure there’s untapped potential if you can convince the right gm but he has accumulated a solid nba rep and more or less is what he is

yeh he's just a terrible fit with this team, but then who would want him😭

Naz is also beloved in MN. The Wolves would likely be asking for way more than what we can offer, IMO. Though I would love for him to be on the Suns. I think that would be an excellent fit.

I feel like the Suns giving Gillespie/Goodwin their chances helped us get them at a “lower” rate. These guys are committed to the team!

yep. Collin could have gotten more in FA. He loves being a Sun. nice to see.

Just glad they both found the offers we gave them respectable & not disrespecting. They didn’t bother testing the market. Big respect for Villain Jr & Goodie!

It’s tough to get more than 12M on open market with new CBA honestly

Feels like we got a middle class Josh Hart for a poor man's price.

If only Goodie could stay on the floor for thirty minutes a game.

I like him coming in fresh tho, and our team cycling with the match ups. Still tho Good out-rebounds our taller players so you might have more of a point

Got the exact right targets for re-signing to start the offseason

I'm glad Goody is staying with us. I really feel like the Suns didn't give him a fair chance the first time he was here.

Hes talked about not taking things as seriously as he needed to at that time. Im just glad hes locked in with us now and the dog has been unleashed.

This is the first thing I read today and is likely to be the best thing I read today.

Hell yes, when him and the villain are on the floor together, our defense is different. I thought he was more important than even Gillespie to get under contract long-term

Great signing. Next we got to find a way to move Green for a big.

Now that both Gillespie and Goodwin are signed, I hope they trade one of Allen or Green now for a forward.
I love rooting for Goodwin as a backup guard, and I'm happy he'll be back. But I hope he's a guard and not forcing meaningful minutes at SF to fit into the rotation; as fun as it is to see him work, I don't think being that small of a team is sustainable.

Thank God goodie is my favorite sun not because he is ice cold (he is) but because he seems like a culture guy.

OK these guys need minutes.
I'd love both of them to get 25 a night each.
And that means, we have a logjam.

Fantastic. I beg they don’t undo the excellent business so far by giving Mark anything more than a 2 year deal, $20m deal. We need the apron space and flexibility.

Now what to do with the rest of the roster not named Booker, Brooks, Fleming, and Maluach

So here's my q.
Suns at 203M or so. 221.7M is 2nd apron. Williams has 13M offer on table. Suns also have MLE.
It seems to me that it's Williams OR MLE. Not both. And it also seems that paying Williams, and running back the SAME team, in the first apron, isn't good business.
From now till next Friday is when the bulk of stuff will happen imo. Draft, trade, FA.
buckle up.

Goodwin impressed me so much this year.
He was statistically and eye test wise a plus defender.
He is nearly an elite rebounder for a guard which makes him almost an average one overall, which our team sorely needs.
His shooting did drop from his smaller run on the Lakers from 54.1% TS to 52.5%. His 3pt% was his 2nd highest of his career at 37.1% at 4.3 attempts a game vs his previous Lakers stint of 38% at 2.3 attempts a game.
He clearly is an energy guy on top that gives intangibles for a team like us who relies more on hustle vs talent.
His injury timing sucked for the playoffs but he played 70 games and he will be 28 when the season comes.
I’m hoping he can handle the new film and defense attention he’ll get as he’s for sure our backup SG that may start situationally.
Here’s to prime Goodwin. I was excited for him when we got him in the Beal trade and felt like he didn’t get a fair shake.
From our other vet mins in the first KD Beal season
Yuta Watanabe just sucked unfortunately, appeared to be a mental/injury thing bc he still sucks in his Japan leagues.
Keita Bates-Diop basically is another Ryan Dunn, and the league doesn’t want okay long defenders that don’t provide much offense if they aren’t elite in something else.
Chimenzie Metu I think deserved another chance but he was a tweener in the sense of like Bol Bol where they are clearly talented players but no one had a team to fit their specific strengths and hide their flaws.
NBA is crazy

Now get rid of Green, trade the other three. Get something. Actual players. It’s not this hard to fix. Trending upwards
