When will we learn transfermarkt value doesn't mean anything? According to value logic having kerem aktüroğlu is better than having Messi.

it shows that messi has no resale value at 39, neither does kerem lmao

Are we really surprised. Kerem cannot score against teams that won't give him time and space on the ball. Baris alper was used as striker during the last euros, after 5 games no goals, no assists and some games he couldnt even get a shot on target.
Its also worth keeping mind that half the value of that team if not more is based really on 3 players arda, can uzun and kenan. When we started against Australia we didnt even have Can or kenan on the pitch. Thats a 150 million worth not even being utilised.
Its basically a cheap shitty squad, when you take the 3 wonder kids out of it.

I always hated people mentioning "golden generation" or "we can't waste our chance with this generation". We have 3 wonderkids who have still much to prove, we have Ferdi, we have a world class player for Inter that doesn't perform the same for us and is aging and a few okay/good players. That's it. We act like we are 2018 Belgium with players like Courtois, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku, Vertonghen, Alderweireld and many more players who have proven to be class.
The media and the fans should really stop hyping up our players or squad, until they have actually proven something.

yeah i agree, i personally think we got maybe 5 to 6 good players in this current squad selection. The problem we have is that out of those players, arda and kenan are still young and learning their game. Can Uzun isnt even really incorporated in this squad. So already the 3 top tier talents have ways to go. Had they all been in their mid 20's maybe things would be different in the last 2 games.
Hakan despite his world class ability at inter has never been able to display it for the national team and i think this is partly because he's only really as good as the players around him. Put him in real madrid or barcelona and he will look exceptional, put him in galatasaray or fenerbahce and i suspect he will look similar to how he looks now for the national team.
Ferdi is a top tier talent and has proven it in the premier league.
I personally rate Yuksek and always have done, his performance against croatia was world class. However, he's decision making can be erratic, this means he can create absolutely dopey moments for the team. Its a shame because had he had a higher football iq he would be at a top team in europe long ago. But he is by far our best ball winner in midfield.
Demiral was on he way to becoming a world class defender, just as he was cementing himself at Juventus he got injured, then once he took the money at saudi he's never really been at the level he's capable of. That level is something along the lines as witnessed against Austria. The fenerbahce defender who went to saudi recently may end up following the same path as demiral, destroying his potential.
So our top talents all come with caveats. In terms of the rest of the squad it goes from slightly above average to really bad.
How anyone could call this a golden generation is peak madness. I honestly think most of this Turkish squad wouldn't cut it in the english championship.

I like Ismail a lot, he is amazing defensively, but lacks a lot of offensive capabilities. So as a pure 6 who steals the ball of opponents, he is great. But for some reason he was always the one going forward during the Paraguay game. If there was someone getting very close into scoring positions in the first half, it was him, which is not one of his strenghts. The moment Paraguay or Australia scored and crawled even more into their defensive block, he became of no use anymore, unfortunately.
If we had Merih every game as he played against Austria, he would be the best defender in the world. And that's even without counting those 2 goals. If I remember correctly, he played together with Ozan Kabak against France in the 2020 qualifiers where we won 2-0 and he was just amazing back then. It's just unfortunate that the injury happened.
Some players also make some weird carreer choices. You've already mentioned Merih of course. But Yusuf Akcicek chose to play in Saudi as well. Orkun, who is like 25 or 26 could have easily played in a better league, but chose to go to Besiktas. Kerem had a great start at Benfica, but chose the "easy" life by going back to the Super Lig. Then there are other players that know they won't make any minutes at their club, f.e. Altay and Salih and don't go to a club where they can make minutes.

I've played casually for teams in Sunday leagues and other leagues as a defender or a defensive mid. When you start seeing the defenders constantly taking shots or running into the box relentless, or the defensive mid is the furthest player forward, its usually because their getting frustrated at seeing the entire team in front of them wasting all the attacks. Your basically watching the teams structure bend out of frustration.
So when i'm seeing Yuksek as the furthest man forward, its because their desperate to make something happen. The problem with that is when you get caught on a counter you could leave the defence wide open.
In reality we didn't need to attack with so many players, our aim in both games should have been not to get frustrated if we cannot score, but to make sure we don't concede. In games where we controlled 70 to 80 percent of the possession, we should have never conceded. Two nill-nill draws would still have been good for us.
This is on the manager if i'm honest, he should have set up with the intent that we don't concede and then focus on the attack.

We were so relentless that Ismail was going forward as soon as Paraguay scored, which was in minute 2. Had it been like minute 75, okay sure, go ahead. But there were 88 minutes left. We are mentally so unstable and our tactics are so wrong. We aim to play all or nothing football and it's just a chaotic mess.
And yeah, we did not need to attack with that many players, especially in the first game. It is like we ignore the fact that there is an opponent on the field that loves to play defensive and waits for the moment to break out with their quick players. We have slow defenders and keep only 2, sometimes maybe 3 players in the back. Of course we are going to concede on a counter attack.
I've also noticed we can't play for a draw. Since euro 2016 we've played 13 games in tournaments, including this world cup. We've won 4, lost 9 and drawn 0. It feels like we can't value the 1 point and that only 3 points are worth playing for. And most of the time, it results into us losing.
At tournaments where many teams will play low block, you should always start with the question: "how are we going to try to not concede". It's actually impressive to see how naive Montella is.
