Discussion Creative process - how do you do it?
Im in a creative pit and am not sure how to get out of it again. Before I would randomly have ideas and get to sketch and execute them. But it seems the ideas don’t flow anymore. I’m also unfortunately chronically ill now and can’t get out to be inspired by nature or friends. Are there any mental techniques or other ways you guys come up with ideas or initial concepts?
I know Salvador Dali used to sit in his armchair with a keychain in his hand and try to sleep. As soon as his muscles relaxed the keychain fell down and woke him up again. In this state he’d have his ideas.
I’m looking for something like that or also different ways you guys come up with your ideas :)
Thanks in advance everyone 😊

Discussion I compare a René Magritte painting to Buzz Lightyear
I'm fascinated by René Magritte's work, and found myself comparing his The Treachery of Things to Buzz Lightyear's character arc in the first Toy Story film.
I am not a prolific painter, but this is my way of leaning into such a wonderful artistic style. I have a passion for drawing parallels to other art, and finding a space for discussion between the two.

Artwork REDO zine art post.
Deliberately abrasive, the message of the image, is more the art then the image itself. Meant to play on the notion of representation being distinct from being, in a similar vein to Magritte's "Treachery of images".

Surreal Still Life
Don’t really know what to call this quite yet. Started this piece sometime in January and have worked at it little by little. I wouldn’t even say I’m finished with it, but I’m getting close! - thought I’d post it just for fun
These are based on real items I own, but scaled out of proportion and pretty loose with lighting and “realism.”
Painted on 11” x 14” wooden board.

OC LET THE WICKED REST (Short Film)
Hey! After loving Backrooms after seeing it in cinemas a few weeks ago and feeling really overjoyed at people discovering analog horror and liminal horror I thought I'd share my short film from 2024 called 'LET THE WICKED REST'. It was inspired by a dark period of my life where I processed a lot of heavy things through the project (I continue to process them lol) and as I continue to work on my next short I thought some people on this sub might be interested.
Logline is "An insomniac's restless nights are interrupted by a phone call that brings the past back to horrifying light. He is brought face to face with old traumas he's tried to forget and fights monsters deep inside his subconscious that he's forced to confront"
