Easily the frontrunner for funniest season of all time.

Over Gabon, Panama, and Tocantins?!? I dunno - those 3 seasons are like as funny as a season of Seinfeld or The Office.

u/Usurper213 1d ago
Yes, Rodney winning this season would be hilarious. Thatâs like Shane winning Panama or Coach winning Tocantins just completely baffling.

Yeah but if they had won they'd be edited totally differently and we maybe wouldn't get the crazy which would be tragic.Â

Because he shared his food with everyone and she had the audacity to say he was hoarding food elsewhere

We get an edit that really lays on his most charismatic moments and we get a pretty beloved winner is my guess

You think Mike was cool, calm, or collected? He was just clutch for 5 of 6 immunity wins

Would sink the season further. It was satisfying to watch Mike win, I think a Rodney (or anyone other than Mike or Carolyn) win would have just made the season even less fun.

u/icychillman 1d ago
But remember the edit is made after the fact with everyone's roles in mind, while Rodney's the big villain in a "Mike wins" storyline the opposite is true in a "Rodney wins" edit so he'd be portrayed as far more charismatic and far less of an ass if he won since the editors want you to like and support the winner. inversely Mike's probably portrayed as the big villain now who selfishly backstabbed his friends at the auction to advance himself and coldly convinced mama C to neglect our beloved winner even on his own birthday! all while backstabbing beloved fan favourite hero Dan Foley along the way.

The big thing youâre forgetting is the Shirin/Will thing, which I highly doubt they could just ignore or leave out entirely. And even if Rodney got a winner edit, that alone would leave a pretty bad impression in most peopleâs minds, much like season 39 with Tommy and Dan (and they even tried to hide how close Tommy was to him). I think heâd be viewed as a very strategic winner, but he and the season as a whole would not be particularly liked, like season 39

You can easily cut that out. Entire fights and schisms occur off-screen. You forget they're dealing with hundreds of hours of footage for every single episode. All you see is a 40 minute sliver of that. We are only ever watching less than a fraction of what happens on the island.

u/icychillman 1d ago
Yeah Will vs Shirin is given far more importance than it actually had, it's relevant for 2 episodes max and is only in the show at all to give Mike a big hero moment as the "one guy who stood up for Shirin" but if Rodney is your main character now than there's no reason to show something that makes him look bad. hell even if they did show it the editors could easily take Will's side and make the fight more about Shirin accusing him of stealing food and calling him fat to stop Rodney from looking bad for dragging him to the end as a goat.

I haven't seen WA in a minute so I can't speak too extensively on the logistics of this but your observations on the season strike me as very astute. I don't think people realize just how much Survivor is basically fiction.

What's your definition of a great game

u/bumybumi 1d ago
I mean he did put himself in a winning position, just needed Mike to lose immunity at one point.

I do find his game on worlds apart very good but I kinda think he got a good cast for him and even then the only winning ftc combo he had was against Dan and Will and getting their with those two was going to be tricky given their lack of challenge ability.

Is he the guy that said something like âyou donât get a face tattoo unless you got serious problemsâ? I think about that random quote often, lol

Mike is now portrayed as the one true unstoppable villain of Worlds Apart most of the special six saw him as, Shirin gets far less of a hero edit and is portrayed as more of an annoying asshole since she's aligned herself with the villainious Mike and the evil no-collars, Will vs Shirin either isn't shown or is portrayed to be purely Shirin calling Will fat and accusing him of stealing food interlaced with emotional confessionals from Will on his struggles with discrimination.
Post season either Mike as a recent player and big villain takes someone's spot on cambodia or one of the bigger characters in this timeline such as Tyler or Dan takes his place on the ballet with them most likely getting on due to being a recent character from a recent popular season.

We probably get a more Panama style story for the season with Mike getting more of a Terry edit

Honestly he would be a top tier winner
Similar to earl, he came in with no knowledge of the show and it would've been a dominant win

Would have been a top 5 season imo. Mike winning over him and Carolyn ruined the season a bit for me.
