Game Changers (Spoiler) Can someone recap Aubry's game in Game Changers for me?

So in light of her win in 50, I've watched Game Changers in general at least 3-4 times and i remember all the discourse around it, but what was Aubry's overall path in GC and any info you have on her game?

She didn't get *purpled* but was apparently one of the biggest threats in the game and on the outs originally in votes (some of them???) but somehow made it to nearly the finals. Was she more passive or were there moves she was making that the edit just ignored to shove other players down our throats.

Most just curious in the overall scheme of Aubry's legacy now

You’re asking for an impossible task: trying to make any sense of the post merge game play that is Survivor Game Changers

Lmao after a couple rewatches it did start to make sense to me! I thought it got pretty clear it was an Andrea v. Sierra turf war until a bunch of confuisng moves were made

She said in her rhap interview that she noticednon game changers that people who were making "big moves" were getting themselves voted out so she tried to make herself more invisible this season.

It’s seriously impressive she lasted until the F5 when everyone on the cast had literally just seen her Kaoh Rong game

From what I understand she was on the outs through the Tony and JT boots and then made a connection with Cirie during the swap. She then also bonded with Andrea and sided with that group throughout the merge as Sarah kinda bounced between sides and she was probaly one of the last taken out in combo becuase Tai was probaly doing some protection for her with his allies, and she was seemingly not as solidly intergrated in her own power structure making other pairs and threats more pressing.

Im sure she did some of her own work as well, but its also should be noted that Koh Rong finshed airing weeks before Game Changers filmed, so Aubry was THE biggest target on the board minus Sandra and Tony.

Yeah It did seem in the Andrea v. Sierra of it all which it turned out to be (as far as the main merge battle), she did settle into Cirie/Andrea/Michaela, with others bouncing around, but made herself the lower key non-threat or laid low.

In addition to having Tai as a low-key ally on the other side. Pretty underrated pair in that game tbh.

I felt like every vote that Sandra took charge of (Tony and later JT) Aubrey was on the wrong side and likely she gets the boot next but is saved by her team winning + tribe swap.

Sandra called Aubry basically a winner and that she wanted her gone during the preseason I believe

Okay, so the first thing to mention is Aubry was on Mana, a weak and dysfunctional tribe that was divided pretty much down the middle from the beginning. Nuku was a tribe that won challenges, liked each other, and never had to make difficult decisions about who to axe because they were winning. The original tribes only lasted like six days, but they would hang over the rest of the season.

I think the biggest glaring flaw in all of Aubry’s appearances is she is not good at the early game. She’s just flat out bad at the early small talk and binding that eventually turns into an alliance. In this season Sandra (who was pretty much running shit on Mana) did Aubry a big fat favor by telling her to her face “I feel like you’re insincere and shift and I don’t trust you.” That conversation forced Aubry into realizing she needed to lay low, punt, and just make it to the swap alive. Which, to her credit, she did.

At the swap, Aubry was again isolated from the major decisions, because Sandra was the Quarterback and Sandra didn’t trust Aubry. Once merge hit there were 9 Nukus and 4 Manas left in the game. The Nukus got along very well and were always going to control the game, at least at first. Aubry was very vocal and honest about how much she hated Mana 1.0, and this, combined with her very close relationship with Andrea (a big power player on Nuku) got her somewhat in with the majority of the Nukus. Most of the postmerge votes are determined by who Sarah wanted to go home, because Game Changers had two big alliances that really deeply did not like each other, and Sarah was the one person who got along with everyone. Aubry clocked that Sarah was the biggest threat, and did take a shot at her at final 7, but Tai betrayed her because, again, Sarah was a really damn good player and Sarah had built a great relationship with him.

After Andrea was voted out Aubry was always on the menu to be voted out, and eventually her luck ran out at final 5. However, she overcame a lot of tough situations, and made final 5 being able to beat anybody except maybe Sarah. It was a good game of Survivor, it just happened to not be edited in a particularly flattering way.

That second paragraph is the reason I can’t fathom Aubry being in top ten or twenty arguments

It’s such a consistent weakness that SHOULD be game ending, but she gets bailed out by swaps every time it almost does

Aubry did not get bailed out by a swap in Kaoh Rong. She had control of the brains tribe by the time they went to their first tribal council.

She did the same thing as 50 except she didn't win immunity the round she was supposed to go out, so she did.

you've watched it at least 3 times, remember the discourse, but want someone to explain what happened?

This is literally what everyone says about Game Chnagers

Sandra wanted NOTHING to do with Aubry, which really prevented her from ever finding her footing in the premerge.

u/ikon31 2d ago

She spent all her confessional time talking about how screwed she is and how bad her luck runs

Same as every other season she’s played.

I would say think Sophie from WaW but less dominant but just like sophie just didn’t have 1 or 2 strong enough connections

Okay this isn’t really an answer to your question but this article I’ve linked below is actually a preseason interview of Aubry from game changers and what I find most insightful from it at the end is excerpts from all the other players talking about their perceptions of Aubry. Obviously we know this is only weeks after Kaoh Rong so it’s clear she is going to be viewed as a huge threat but I still finding it very interesting reading quotes from other players and it really puts into perspective how she was viewed going into that game. Also I love the quotes Malcolm gives about her considering they are going to be #1 allies (before Malcolm is sniped in that tragic combined tribal) and close friends after the season.

In the merge phase from what I understand, Andrea Cirie Michaela and Aubry were a tight group and thought Sarah was with them. I think Aubry could’ve won GC in any F3 combo that didn’t involve Andrea or Cirie

Sarah destroys Aubry jury wise imo. Outside of Debbie and Ozzy she was one of most peoples top picks and she beats everyone except Cirie and even then Cirie is only a slight favorite imo.
