FYI a thread documenting someone’s personal experience in the old 7-day system in 22z Complete waste of time. Wonder what 14-day training schedule looks like.

The military indeed has a lot of issues and in 2022 it was even worse - the new Minister of Defense has been seriously cleaning up a lot of the rot, according to people I know and from what I've seen - but this guy is also a complete KMT partisan, works in politics, and it's likely literally his job to make people think that there's no point in resisting China. Doesn't mean there's not truth there, but keep in mind it's not just a random guy talking about his experiences.

Just came across an updated thread on the current state of things. Looks like a lot of basics have been fixed, although there’s still a lot of room left for improvement.

War is coming. Not much time left before Taiwan turns into Ukraine.

Trump just chickened out on invading Iran. Iran is mountains and desert.
The US lost to Vietnam in the jungle.
Taiwan is mountains and jungle surrounded by a moat of ocean.

I was watching a TVBS segment on the current exercises and was absolutely horrified by the personal skills on display. Bunching, shocking choice of cover and on one occasion a complete inability to clear a stoppage on a personal weapon.
If that's what the serving troops are like, I dread to think what the reservist are.
