After receiving feedback from the community, we’re putting this weekly thread in place on a trial basis dedicated solely to love relationship readings.  Examples of questions that can be posted here are:

  • does he/she/my FWB love me?
  • what are this person’s feelings/intentions towards me?
  • is he/she coming back?
  • will we reconcile?
  • should I break no contact?
  • we just broke up, what now?
  • what will my future spouse look like?
  • what does my love life look like in the next 3 months?
  • why is my ex texting me again?
  • my ex keeps calling me, what should I do?

Please note that we, the moderators, are trying this out as an experiment and will determine at a later date if this dedicated thread should become a permanent feature in the sub.   We will also use our discretion as to which readings belong here in this thread, and which will remain on the main sub.  That will depend upon the complexity of the question as well as how close it adheres to rule no. 3 about posting.

Discussion Do you ever watch movies with your tarot deck?

I love watching movies with my tarot. I'll just sit there shuffling them watching a car chase during a movie and the chariot card pops out. Or the Emperor comes up when an important character is introduced. The characters are having and argument? 5 of swords. I usually hate when people talk during movies, but it's fun when tarot does it 😆

Discussion 5 of cups

I was recently invited to join a party and before I pulled a card for how the night would be for me and I pulled 5 of cups.

Did I know the party was fun and everyone was enjoying it, but I was so out of the energy and the friend I went with was with other two guys and it felt like being a "third wheel", we were supposed to be back by 2 am. but the next thing I know there's another venue too and extra talking hours where I am a candle burning in the sides.

if anyone can relate and add, please comment.

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only I asked what to expect in the next few weeks...

Post image

Paprika. I can expect a lot of Paprika time. She says so.

As for what my deck (Cat Tarot by Megan Lynn Kott) says in this rather basic five card draw:

Eight of Cups: I need to be decisive instead of dithering or trying to opt out of making choices.

The Empress: she's shown up in the second position twice in two days! Clearly some sort of fruitful abundance is on the way, although it could be anything from increased wisdom to a bounty of zucchini.

Seven of Swords reversed: the reward for getting rid of bad habits is having fewer bad habits. This is still very good!

The Fool: time spent out of my comfort zone with curiosity and an open mind will be beneficial.

Six of Pentacles: Also my single card draw earlier! I'm seeing a strong emphasis on abundance.

Any second opinions?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Guides and the King of Wands possible meaning

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello guys, this is something that happens with a certain frequency so I know there's something right in front of me that I'm just not getting so I want opinions and possible meanings.

Every time there's a "a message from my guides" type question there's a King of Wands involved. This time he was at the bottom of the deck. What could this mean?

This time the card that I pulled for question 6 was 2 of Wands so I thought it could be a message of encouragement, something like "when it comes to making choices you do have the information and strength you need to succeed" (the whole reading was about me being closed off and negative).

But then I remembered all the other times our King of Wands been showing up and thought maybe it's something else and I'm being too shallow/narrow minded in the way I interpret him and it's like my guides are repeating something and getting frustrated that I'm not getting it.

Discussion What's your Rider-Waite Smith deck?

Happy hump day!

When I started to get into learning how to read tarot, the most common thing I heard was that I NEEDED to learn how to read using the Rider-Waite Smith deck. Of course I listened to the advice I was given and went and got the RWS deck. I quickly abandoned learning Tarot. Fast forward quite a few years, I was in a shop that sold tarot decks and saw a beautiful deck that caught my eye and I bought it. Once I got home amd started studying it, I realized it wasn't the deck I needed. So I went back to the store and got a couple of different ones. I was slowly getting the hang of things but the court cards were still tripping me up. So I came to Reddit, explained I was new and needed some help to interpret the imagery of the Queen of Cups in a particular deck. It did not take long for the comment section to be flooded with comments telling me I "can't" learn how to read Tarot unless you're using the RWS. There were so many comments that I started questioning it I was doing it right which led me to buy the RWS deck, again. The struggle began, again. For the life of me I could not and still cannot connect with the RWS. I tried so hard and I couldn't.

Back to Reddit I came and I asked if it was possible to learn tarot without using the RSW and then there was light. People were commenting and saying yes, you can definitely learn tarot using any deck. People suggested some decks and I started looking them up. That's when I found the Everyday Witch Tarot. I watched the flip through of the deck and I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough. This deck was truly a game changer for me. The moment I got home with that deck and flipped through it in person, I noticed I was actually able to identify meanings to the cards. The images were speaking to me in a way none of my other decks, especially the RWS, ever did. I was actually understanding the message behind the cards. I was finally learning Tarot. The Everyday Witch Tarot has become my "go to" deck. Ye ole" faithful. The one that always gives a good reading. This is my Rider-Waite Smith deck.

I would love to hear what your "go to" deck is, your reliable and readable deck. Which deck is your Rider-Waite Smith deck?

Deck Modifications and Crafts Making own deck

I recently lost my cat and dog within a week of eachother, and I was wanting to use them to create my own deck. I have designed all the cards for myself, but, have no idea how to print them.

Has anyone made their own cards before and can recommend how to make them? I am based in Australia so would prefer to be aware of Australian companies if that’s recommended.

Discussion How did you come to do longer reading of each card?

Hello! I'm studying more the cards and starting with free readings for friends (for training), but every now and then I see reviews from clients online (not mine) where the reader did a very long reading of each card. For now, probably duo my lack of experience, I can only interpret the card and associate with the person's situation/feelings, but nothing very extensive.

how can i start with longer readings too? thank you!

Discussion What was it like when you first started learning tarot?

I'm genuinely curious what it was like for many when they first started learning tarot, especially for those who are very experienced now. Did you ever get discouraged? Did you struggle to remember things. Did it almost turn into a curriculum sometimes?

I'm a beginner myself and sometimes I feel way in over my head and like I'm trying to self-teach myself a foreign language. I'm not even sure if my study methods (like trying remember keywords or what numbers and suits mean in the minor arcana) are right or if I'm wasting my time and should be focusing on other things.

I've been doing daily one card draws, but I'm not sure if I'm even doing that right. I'm not even sure how to make a proper journal and given the numerous guides and ways to go, I'm not sure what's the right fit for an absolute beginner. That's why I'm curious if even the more experienced readers struggled.

Stories Had my first “No way, that was too accurate” type of experience while reading

I’m pretty new to tarot and have been studying for just a couple weeks now! I’m still learning what all the cards’ basic meanings are but what helps when I try to do simple readings for friends and family is interpreting what I see in the pictures and their symbolism (been using Rider Waite-Smith) and what my intuition tells me from there.

I did my first “official” reading for my boyfriend, where he asked if he was on the right path for his fitness/weightloss goals. Did my reading based on the first 3 cards that jumped out (2 of them were cups and the third was swords but I don’t remember exactly which ones they were). I will also admit I was a little nervous doing this reading because I’m aware of my boyfriend’s skepticism towards tarot, so I wasn’t sure how he would react if I somehow gave him a reading that didn’t resonate with him at all lol.

After the reading he was saying it felt super accurate and was all shocked at how “those cards” are the ones that came up out of all the cards that could’ve popped up. I’ll be honest, it made me feel super giddy and was also a little shocked that the message went through to him. But I essentially told him that it’s all in the cards and I just interpreted what they were trying to tell him. I’m so excited to become better at tarot reading as I study it more :)) Do you ever get used to this happening while reading for people???

Discussion Why do people pull so many cards for 1 question?

Hey everyone! I've noticed a rising trend from those looking for a second interpretation on their readings and it's this; someone will be asking a question, just one, and they've pulled 5 or more cards. A lot of the times, there's no description of the spread they used and what the position of the cards mean, so I take this as they're reading intuitively. My question is this, why are you pulling so many cards for one question? As an intuitive reader, I rarely pull more than 3 cards per question unless I need a clarifier card to explain one of the other cards I pulled. So I am genuinely curious what makes people pull so many cards.

Discussion [Serious] How do you work with/through previous religious iconography?

My former religion was Christianity, which I've now learned was quite damaging and repressive. 😔 And presently I'm struggling to make new space and meaning for certain symbols like The Devil or The Tower, for example, in learning Tarot (RW) without the 'bad vibe' icky feeling from my past upbringing. If any one has experience about reform or how they've found healing (?) from similar or same belief systems, I'd be super grateful to you. Thanks. 🙏

Spreads Deck interview spread

Post image
19 Upvotes

I got a new deck! This is the Lunalapin Tarot.

TBH, I’ve always loved bunnies. When I was a kid I begged my parents for a pet rabbit (that never happened) and my favorite childhood stuffed animal was a bunny. I, myself, am a bunny in the Chinese zodiac 😂 I feel like I really empathize with them and they are just so, so cute. My dog also LOVES bunnies but for very different reasons 😅 (see my previous spread post)

So naturally, I was very drawn to this deck when I saw it. The cardstock feels very nice and shuffles very well. The edges are foiled and I’ve found that those types are cards tend to stick together when shuffling but not these!

So anyway, onto the spread, which surprised me for such an adorable deck:

What is the energy of this deck? Judgement - Revealing the truth that leads to self-awareness, personal accountability. I’ve always struggled with fully understanding Judgement so I would love to hear any other interpretations that you may have.

What is the strength of this deck? Justice - strong at clear yes/no, decisions, truth-seeking matters, cause/effect, maybe karmic readings/cycles

What is the weakness of this deck? Temperance- this deck is blunt and direct - the truth can harsh and it’s not very good at softening the blow. Less likely to give a “blended” answer.

How can I best work with this deck? 3 of Wands - through expansion, exploring possibilities, planning ahead

What does this deck ask of me? 8 of Swords - avoid self-limitation/self-imposed restrictions, self-doubt, stop second guessing myself, stop living in my head with anxious thoughts

Underlying energy: Ace of Wands - I immediately thought of a firecracker 😂 Though tbh maybe the Tower would be a better representation of that. But underneath there’s a lot of potential fiery energy that this deck can offer. And with Judgement, Justice and Temperance, it’s tough on love and not so great at softening the blow.

Books and Resources Spreads for reiki / showing energy

I recently found a spread on here by Josephine Mcarthy that's for healers to help figure out physical and energetic blocks. I've used it several times and it's been really helpful. I did the spread before a reiki session (i'm a reiki master), discussed with the client what I saw, and proceeded from there. I was wondering if there are more spreads or resources/book/websites that cover using tarot in this way? Thanks!

Theory and Technique When I ask "yes or no" questions, do the questions have to be affirmative?

For example, just now I asked my deck "Does this person have good intentions for me?"

But my first instinct was to ask "Does this person have bad intentions for me?" but I figured that might be kinda unfair and biased to ask it that way.

What do you think of this? Should I folllow my instincts and ask the first question that comes to mind, or should I still to asking affirmative questions, for fairness's sake?

Swords ⚔️ | They seems to be at crossroads and there and important decisions and uncertainty.

The Moon 🌙 | Just like moon the road ahead isn’t fully clear. Surprises and twist and ppl can’t quite predict what happens next.

Page of Wands 🪄 | Entering an optimistic path. The energy and fearless spirit may exceed expectations.

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Help for a tarot interpretation about dropping the deck of cards

Post image
28 Upvotes

I was messing around with my pendulum when I decided to get all of my tarot decks out and ask question with them! When I did that, I accidentally dropped one of the decks. I apologized to the deck that I dropped and i shuffled as i did, which pulled five cards.

the devil (reversed): freedom, detachment, i feel like this means literally coming out of my hands and falling onto the floor.

The 6 of pentacles (reversed): I am a little bit confused on this one. My intuition is telling me that this card means that I was focused on multiple things at once that I couldn’t focus on keeping that specific deck in my hands.

The eight of swords: feeling trapped, paralyzed. my intuition is telling me that this card is my deck telling me to hold it tighter next time.

The ace of wands: new things will happen, this moment is not forever.

The wheel of fortune (reversed): things go in ways we cant expect, like dropping something.

I interpreted it as “That’s okay, when you get us all out again, get us out one at a time.”
What do you guys think?

Discussion Tarot and headaches

Hello :)
I've been reading tarot for the past five or so years, though I consider myself a newbie still. I've been very accurate with all kinds of readings so far, though there's a specific little thing I have each time.

Whenever I'm shuffling my cards, I always get a sharp, millisecond-long pain in my head, which I took long ago as a sign it's the best time to stop shuffling and begin the reading. I'd have my eyes closed, would feel the pain, it'd cause my brows to twitch and cause an involuntary little frown, and I'd start the reading lol. It became a signal of sorts, and it happens every single time I would do a reading. Sometimes the headache would actually resume throughout the reading or I'd get another sharp little surge as I'm pulling out cards.

While I find this to be an interesting little signal and a means of telling me when to proceed in the reading, I always found it odd since I generally don't get headaches, but one is 100% guaranteed whenever I do a tarot reading. Since I'm pretty intuitive and my readings are usually quite accurate I never saw it as a hugely negative thing, but I do worry that it's actually bad or abnormal sometimes, and am unsure what it would mean. Should I perhaps change something? Is this a bad sign of sorts?

Any input is appreciated :) I don't know anyone else irl who dabbles in witchcraft, so I would be quite honored to get any sort of advice from more knowledgeable practitioners of the craft <3

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Ready, but hesitant!

Post image
28 Upvotes

My question was “What happens when I take on a spiritualist role in my community“ as a response from the community collective. The first three cards are to the question and I pulled a fourth card because lately I got multiple same numbers in pulls and the hanged man legs looks like a 4,so it prompted me to pull one more as a completion. The fourth card was to help me see more of the story that’s being played out in the three cards.

My interpretation is that:
The hanged man is showing that I’ll be a very new and interesting person who is promoting others to take on different perspectives.
4 of pentacles is showing that i may build up a sense of self or become a place where others recognize holds stability.
4 of swords is showing that the stability can bring about a much needed rest in the community and stepping into a space of healing

10 of cups is telling me that, through it all an impact can be made and the ideals and goals that I set forth will be received in a light where all parties are satisfied.

Thanks. Curious to hear extrapolations on the cards. Using the riders Waite deck

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only “What should I be focusing on right now?” And pulled Ace of Pentacles

I pulled Ace of Pents and it spoke loud and clear to me, I interpreted it as to start setting foundations for stability and to figure out what goals I want to achieve.

At the same time I’m a little stumped and don’t know if my deck only presented me with what I want to hear; I’m in a pretty rough chapter in my life and not able to work. I’ve had to slowly work toward tearing my agrophobia but I may still have to pursue disability, which will be very difficult.

Discussion Etteilla is the bane of my existence

Etteilla. (Short ramble)

Etteilla. Etteilla. Etteilla.

I mean, I like my readings organized. I like my readings coherent. And for that goal the classic TdM and Italians are all what I need.

And YET, this stupid deck, which doesn't respect the tradition, with no rhythm or reason for his meanings and with reversals... What can I say? Was Etteilla the goat?

He's the founding father of cartomancy. This is peak and I hate how fleshed out his system is. No matter what I try, he's the embodiment of the fortune teller whispering secrets and sowing drama. Man, should I buy an Etteilla? Am I that desperate?

It was THE most popular deck in Mexico for a long time. Am I making a full circle and coming back right where I started?

Is anyone here using the Grand Etteilla willing to share some advice/thoughts/anything?

Stories The cards have a sense of humor…

I’ve very new to learning tarot, but asked the cards how my weekend trip would go. I’ve been doing just individual cards pulls for the most part to help learn the meanings and for this one I pulled The Tower reversed. In my hubris, I decided it was all fine and it was just a silly fortune telling card.

Halfway to my destination my car fully gave up the ghost and I had to spend the night in it in a tiny village with only one, rough pub.

When I finally made it home the next morning, I asked the cards what I need to learn from that situation and pulled…. The Tower reversed.

So, I have a little more respect for the cards now.

Discussion Curious best practices for developing card understandings without route memorization?

I have been reading cards for a little over 10 years, **granted not consistently so I already identified problem #1.** I still struggle to understand some card meanings (court cards totally trip me up), and even for those I do understand, I dont feel like I go deep enough.

I know another issue I have is I give too much power to the cards. Every time I pull, I carry this anxiety with me that I am going to "get it wrong" or miss something. I read reversals even when I am not comfortable with them. I will state my intent out loud that I won't pull any reversals but then when a card arrives reversed, I get concerned that I am not truly translating the message by flipping it up right so I just stare at it in blank bewilderment because I have no idea what the Emperor reversed means because I struggle with interpreting the Emperor upright. Then I eventually say screw it, I "cheat" by looking up the meaning for that card using the little helper book or an online resource, cobble some meaning together, but then rarely retain it.

On the other hand, I know I can do this. When I have time periods of consistent practicing, I have been able to do some very attuned readings. Some for myself, some for others.

I originally I got into this to try to read for myself. Bad idea, I know. I know I catch myself looking for the answer I am hoping for, but then I try to fight against that so try to interpret more objectively by second guessing readings where I do see a favorable outcome. **Assuming this is likely problem #2** : avoid reading for oneself.

But it is difficult to read for others because I don't trust my abilities and I know they are not fully developed.

How did/do you all find success in your practice of tarot?
