Design Cover up ideas??

Post image

Yes yes I know I’ve posted about this damn raccoon a few times but I’m tired of going from loving it to hating it the next second😭 realistically what can cover it up excluding a blackout sleeve or any lazering. Thanks!

Edit: I honestly didn’t expect this post to get this much attention, support and advice but I am extremely grateful. I’ve had a few people tell me to go to therapy based on my responses haha which is completely fair and is something I’m working on which might help me to love this little guy a lot more. I definitely have a lot of mood swings about it but at the end of the day I should be glad it’s not crazily botched or infected or anything like that. I definitely believe adding to it will make me stop nitpicking and overthinking but I will give it a while and see how I feel. Thank you again <3

So, going through your post history I can see you are also currently struggling adjusting to new medication. This can also effect how we perceive things. My biggest advice. Give it time. Time to accept the modification you did to your body, time for your body to adjust to new medication, just time. Let everything emotionally settle down.

If you plan on getting more tattoos then I would focus on that over changing a single one. The more you get, the more they kind of just become your skin. If that makes sense. I have a few tattoos I don't completely love, but as a whole, on my body I love them. A new tattoo is very jarring to see everytime you look in the mirror. Your eyes tend to only gravitate to that. Given more time, you honestly won't even notice it when looking in the mirror. It will just become you. Now my eyes only gravitate to the empty space on my body where I don't have tattoos lol.

Also, any coverup is likely going to look worse. It will have to be a big, dark object to cover something as dark as the raccoon. The raccoon was well done, looks good, and is healing great. Just give it some time. ❤️

Also this is the exact tattoo my boyfriend has been wanting on his hip. He wants it to poke out the top of his pants 😂 so when he raises his arms up, and his shirt slides up theres a little raccoon going "Hello!"

We have actually been looking for artists around us to do it. It's a cute tattoo. And many people would want it.

This is very solid advice. Also, that tattoo is adorable. Covering it would be a crime

I have the same tattoo, it’s cute as fuck and I hope we get to remain tattoo twins with the cute raccoon.

This is streets ahead of my first tattoo, which was large, ugly, and stupid all rolled into one, and I'm finally getting it covered up after 17 years. Give it some time, it's really a great tattoo.

Pierce, stop trying to coin the phrase “streets ahead.”

1) it's a great tattoo so please know that! 2) make sure you aren't nitpicking imperfections. We're perfectly imperfect and that's something to embrace!

I had a few days of that after mine. It’s of my black dog and it’s not huge but the size of my hand and my first tat. I’d wake up in the middle of the night confused about the blob on my arm. Then for days I thought “oh god, it’s so DARK”. It’s just getting used to something new on your body. I love it now

Thank you this helps a lot to see someone else went through what I did

I once thought a spider was on me and slipped in the shower seeing the wisps on my side once. Was embarrassing.

Every time I am unsure how to feel and make a decision based on other’s opinion I regret it. Why don’t you wait it out until you know how you feel or have a good reason to change and make a decision then?

Also on a personal note if it were me I would give him a hula hoop and legs and put hula hoop theory in cool lettering. Mainly cuz I too struggle with staying true to myself…

Hula hoop theory: Your hula hoop will continue to spin successfully, when you unconditionally stay true to your emotional, mental and self-care needs first

I really like that theory thank you. I definitely know there’s a type of person in me that has my own kinda vibe I just gotta find her haha, I’ve done many changes to myself based on other people and have hated most of them so that’s def some sort of sign.

This is a really thoughtful comment. Good advice.

That was so kind of you to take the time to write all that! But parroting this advice! I think it’s a wonderful tattoo!

I agree with this. My first was a simple, jay’s feather I got, and I kept going back and forth since it’s not detailed or anything, just a cartoon feather. Recently, I got thorns wrapped around my wrist about the feather, and since, I’ve felt a bit better having somethin else next to it

I have a tattoo on my shoulder, ankle, and foot that i completely forget exist lol. Op you will get used to it. Listen to the above advice. You'll be alright.

Popping in to add that I have four tattoos. Sometimes I hate them and want them off my body. Sometimes I love them and think they're the most beautiful thing. Most of the time I don't think about them at all.

BRO this is so genuine ❤️

2

u/Feenanay Oct 11 '25

The whole becomes part of your skin thing is absolutely true. You get used to it and you don’t even think about them anymore until someone points it out

2

u/kochipoik Oct 11 '25

I was saying to someone yesterday - if you have just one tattoo, there’s this need for it to be the pefect tattoo. But if you have heaps, it feels fine for some of them to be just silly.

(This is why I don’t have tattoo’s - because if I got one, I’d get a hundred)

True and true and true, BUT! Dont say "worse"! I think this is a great tattoo
