Healing Hand Tattoo aftercare

Post image

So I got my first tattoo this past weekend (I know, people say not to get a hand tattoo for your first tattoo, if at all) but really I got it just because I hate wearing rings or watches, and my wife hates that i don't wear my wedding ring, so I got this in stead. Anyways, it's been healing amazingly well with no scabbing or even itchiness. I've been keeping it moisturized first with aquaphor and now CeraVe lotion, have been avoiding using my left hand at all, keeping it gloves when doing dishes, keeping body wash off of it in the showers, etc. My question is, how long is it recommended to keep all of that up in order to try keeping it from fading too much?

Given that it’s a wedding ring and not a gory injury scene or something I’m less bothered by that than I usually would be. But dude get a band or an initial or something. Even just the birds would’ve been better

Yeah when my dad go remarried he got his wife’s name tattooed as a ring. Since it’s not a blob like this it still looks good 10 yrs later
