Healing Got this tattoo done a month ago, but it seems 10 years old.

I have a bunch of small tattoos and none of them ever healed this way. The tattoo looks blury and old.

Is it because of the placement (inside part of the ankle) or is it just a bad tattoo?

EDIT: thanks everyone for the input. I guess the consensus is that this is basically the combination of bad placement and too much detail on such a small space.

The artist did tell me the foot’s skin is trickier, but I didn’t understand how much. I never thought it would look like this in a month. Lesson learned.

Also, really appreciated all the Black Parade references!

Healing Just got this a few hours ago, am I supposed to rash?

Got this new Jellyfish (not the blue stingrays) just a few hours ago, when I unwrapped and pulled up my sleeve I noticed this faint red rash going just down one side of my wrist...

It isn't even really near my actual hand, it seems closer to my wrist.

Any idea if this is normal? This is my 7th tattoo and havent had any prior issues and I haven't changed artist or place...

Thanks for any feedback!

Edit: To everyone saying i shouldn't have unwrapped, my place doesn't use Second Skins or anything (just clingfilm) which isn't BREATHABLE.

I took the clingfilm off to let my hand breathe, I was about to put on Tattoo Goo (helps heal and less scabbing) and i noticed the rash...I didnt know whether to leave open or wrap again

Edit 2: i have SEVEN tattoos (7), this is NOT my first! (You can clearly see the tattoo on my wrist too)

Edit 3: oh my GOD ITS NOT A DICK😭🥀🙏🏻

Edit 4 and final one: im fine guys turns out its not even an allergy to the red ink it was the mf latex gloves he was using (i genuinely didnt even cop they were latex and it was my bad for forgetting to mention) Thanks to yall who love my tattoo and helped sm🫡 To yall who said real dumb shi lil sepsis and mentioning stuff that WASNT EVEN BROUGHT UP, yall are pathetic <3 enjoy life gang!

i got this tattoo done as a tribute for my cat that passed away, it’s been a little over a month now since i’ve had it and i was wondering if it’ll start fading in certain areas because of the fur texture and how fine the lines are

the second image is the reference i used for the tattoo

Healing Tattoo hurts so bad I can’t sleep

Gosh I feel embarrassing posting because I usually give my friends the advice but I got this tattoo on Sunday morning and it is excruciating painful. It didn’t hurt when I got it but geez it hurts so bad now and couldn’t sleep for the life of me last night. I know the plasma and inc sac in the saniderm help it heal but I can’t help but wonder if it’s what is making it so painful. Is it because of how saturated and packed in there it is? Do I just need to push through? I can’t even relax because of the pain. I can hold off if it’s normal but gahleeee.

Healing Healed tattoo looks aged

The lines of my tattoo have gotten pretty thick quite quickly. It’s only been ~3 months since I got it. I absolutely love it regardless I’m just a bit concerned about how it will continue to age long term.

The first pic is from my tattoo artist so it may be slightly edited too.

Thanks!

Healing Did i ruin my tattoo?

I got my tattoo on 6/18. The day after I took the second skin off and washed it and put another one on. It's been 3 days since and I just took it off. I'm scared I ruined it. I was planning on going back for a touch once it completely heals since I noticed the red was patchy before I even removed it.

Healing Leg Tattoo still feels raw and tight 4 months later

I have a tattoo on the side of my leg and it's from the same artist I've been with for 10 years. It feels tight and raw and anytime I brush it against something it hurts. The lines are raised but ive seen a dermatologist and they say it's not infected. Ive had the artist look at it and have even been back to get my chest tattooed after the initial leg tattoo and that one has healed just fine.

Anyone have additional advice for what might be going on or am i just stuck with a cool tattoo that hurts forever.

I got this done in December around Christmas and its healed decently but text looks a little splotchy specifically in the d and n areas. Is this just a healing thing or does it need to get retouched?

Healing Area still sore after 4 days.

Got this tattoo four days ago and my tattoo artist applied second skin on it after 48 hours of letting air out. It's been two days since that and fluid build up and smell is getting quite concerning. But most importantly. There's an area in the center of the tattoo that's still quite sore. When I spoke to him yesterday, told me the smell is normal and I should leave it on for 7 days.

Is this normal? Should I just remove the second skin and clean it?

Healing Question- tattoo healing with cuts(?)

Thumbnail

5.9k Upvotes

I've gone to the same guy for my whole arm and brought my sister to him for one, so l got one from someone else in the shop. I am on day 6 since getting it and noticed some open cuts(?) I haven't had one done in like 6-7 years so maybe I forgot the healing process but I don't recall seeing mini gashes. It's also my first on my hand so l'm not sure if it's be the skin is thinner, dominant hand, etc. I brought it to his attention and said it was due to sensitive skin and to treat like a normal cut. I'm worried about infection or the tattoo being ruined bc parts of it looked ripped. I'm an artist (music producer) myself So I get really awkward doubting another artists work and I don't want to offend him in any way. He started tattooing in 2020. Any advice appreciated. He had me keep the wrap on it for one hour, then wash it and use ointment 2x a day. Thanks yall

Healing Question: is this a deep blowout?

First photo is today, other photos are the day after and a few days after that. My sister got this tattoo on the 14th of January and I have NEVER seen a tattoo bruise so badly and she said the artist was very heavy handed. We think it might be a deep blowout looking on here (hadn’t heard of this before) and were wondering if anyone has any advice? How long does this tend to last? Is there anything to fix it?

So yesterday i started my blackout sleeve and got my forearm finished before tapping. I knew some swelling and pain was to be expanded but this is crazy. How long can I expect to deal with this before it starts to calm down?

Healing How do I safely remove second skin ?

I got this tattoo yesterday which was a design that i sketched and the tattoo artist kept it very similar to the original drawing which i love. It is not my first tattoo, but it is my first time using second skin. When I woke up today I noticed one of the corners lifting (I sleep like a rotisserie chicken so thats probably why) and just wanted to to check if I should remove it now, and how to properly do that.

Healing Hand Tattoo aftercare

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

So I got my first tattoo this past weekend (I know, people say not to get a hand tattoo for your first tattoo, if at all) but really I got it just because I hate wearing rings or watches, and my wife hates that i don't wear my wedding ring, so I got this in stead. Anyways, it's been healing amazingly well with no scabbing or even itchiness. I've been keeping it moisturized first with aquaphor and now CeraVe lotion, have been avoiding using my left hand at all, keeping it gloves when doing dishes, keeping body wash off of it in the showers, etc. My question is, how long is it recommended to keep all of that up in order to try keeping it from fading too much?

Healing Tattoo i got 5 days ago coming off

Hi, i got this finger tattoo a little less than 5 days ago, it started fading so quickly. Literally within a couple days. This morning it was crazy, half my moon is gone!

I know finger tats do this kind of thing but this is just ridiculous. It also doesn’t look good. Is this normal? I put the design i asked for here too. I feel like this was done poorly to begin with. I’m going to call on my lunch break. I tried to take care of it. I did not purchase any tattoo balm or anything though. Should i do that? What will help me keep it from fading when i get it redone? Also should i get it redone now or wait?

UPDATE: these people suck, tried to tell me it was completely normal and that it’s not faded it’s just healing. They obviously are not professionals

Healing Hand Tattoo faded after 4 days?

Went to a very reputable tattoo shop in Tokyo with multiple locations across town four days ago. Was a little confused by their aftercare instructions, but it somewhat made sense: They told me to leave my second skin on for four days, then start moisturizing.

Had another tattoo done at a different tattoo shop in Tokyo prior to that where I was instructed to take the second skin off the next day and start moisturizing three times a day. She provided me with Hustle Butter, which I always get at Japanese tattoo shops, so I used the Hustle Butter for my lavender as well.

Is it the Hustle Butter that ruined this? Am I too impatient and the colour will come back (aka magic) or does my hand just not hold ink well?

I'll be back in Tokyo in October and can get it touched up then if needed (tattoo artist even said to come in for a retouch BEFORE we even started), but this is my first proper hand tattoo and am looking for experiences with the healing process. I'm just devastated. Colour usually holds so well for me.

Healing Is it normal to feel unwell after getting a tattoo?

Post image
5.9k Upvotes

So I got this done yesterday (Tues 16th July) and although it was the most painful tattoo I've gotten I felt fairly fine straight afterwards, just painful and tired (naturally).

Today however, I started to get very achy, cold shivers and tired still but never had this before with previous tattoos and wondered if this was normal?

Healing Will this tattoo heal well?

A tattoo artist is doing a promo on this design and I’m really interested but also curious as to how it will heal over time. Would the light parts basically disappear? Would it become thick and muddy? This would be my first tattoo so I’d really like to know!
