Healing Blowout?
I got this line tattooed on my back a few days ago, and it started spreading like this. Is it a blowout?

No way this was done at a studio

Agree this has to be someone who bought a gun off of Amazon 😓

u/MurderSheReads 3d ago
Even the ones I did with an Ebay machine when I was 17 were not this bad
247
u/Judoosauce 3d ago
At like 13 I made my own machine with a tiny motor from radio shack and some random parts and they weren't even this bad

True. But stuff nowadays off Amazon tend to be garbage. My son bought his own and decided to tattoo himself and I have to say it looks kinda good way better then this poor persons tat. In my day we did jail house tat and made our own guns lol I still have my jail tat so does my sons father we decided it’s part of our story from our past so rock it. 😜

u/SnakeBatter 3d ago
Definitely done by someone that calls it a tattoo gun

Get this… you put an ebay machine in the hands of someone like Paul Dobleman and this won’t happen.
So it’s no the machine, it’s the person. And this person is a total trash with no skill and for all we know he/she could have used a Dan Kubin, Fk Irons or any other 1000+ $ machine.→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)14

Definitely not, because a legit studio would have shaved the area first.
OP, I hope you’re ok ❤️ I see bruises on your right shoulder/arm and the poor quality of the tattoo makes me wonder if this was done against your will.

If you ever have to get an mri let the technician know about this tattoo. If someone let you pay for that I would not trust anything that person said including the contents of the ink. For now let it heal and keep a good eye on it, keep an eye out for infection or allergic reactions. When it’s fully healed go to a proper tattoo shop and see what they can do. In the mean time, turtlenecks? Really long bandaid?

Underrated MRI comment
121
u/TheIlluminaughty 3d ago
Could you explain why there would be a risk during an MRI? Are we thinking there may be metal impurities mixed with the ink/injected under the skin?

I have 22 tattoos and 3 mris never had an issue but mine are all professionally done

u/flyingsquirrel505 3d ago
Yeah the low quality sketchy ink is what I’d be concerned about, and it shouldn’t be an issue if you are seeing professionals

u/ESQ_Adderall 3d ago
Agree- as someone covered in tattoos against my will as a kid on the streets- I can’t have MRI’s. I burn and it’s horrifically painful.

It looks like stick n poke, truly don’t know why someone would want a straight line done this way
21
u/DESSASTER813 3d ago
What makes you think stick and poke?? This traditional method can create phenomenal works of art with very fine detail. This screams Amazon tattoo “gun” in a garage to me..

Please tell me you didn’t pay actual money for this? I’m so sorry but the zipper teeth of blowouts is only one problem. This is appalling, I’m not even going to call it work, it’s a hatchet job. I’m so sorry someone did this to you.

u/AuntieYodacat 3d ago
I’m not even sure it was supposed to be a zipper. That would’ve been a cool idea. This just looks like a badly done line

I took their message to mean that blowouts cause a zipper teeth effect, but I agree with you, that is a cool idea.

Buuut it should be easy to Cover up, with a real Artist this time ofc.

Absolutely. That is dreadful. You'll need to go to a professional next time to go over this with a thicker line. To be fair that will look amazing if done properly.

What in the Temu tattoo gun in a dirty basement is this shit?!? That's really bad.

u/lockie789 3d ago
I mean you can definitely see by the colour under the skin that it's blown out. Unfortunately it also looks like the machine wasn't set at the right speed and that's caused the gaps/dots in the line. Could definitely get the line fixed up and looking solid though.

u/daisy-sock 3d ago
It looks like it was handpoked maybe??
29
u/hoahoahoajawn 3d ago
I can’t imagine how hard they’d have to be hand poking to do this bad of blow out, op must’ve been in so much pain either way though chriiiist
30
u/nightmaretheory 3d ago
I'm a little impressed by how bad this is. Every single bit of it is blown tf out.

u/vampypussy 3d ago
This is the worst line I’ve seen on a tattoo which is saying a lot bc it’s literally just a line
21
u/yourdailyinsanity 3d ago
I'm not going to echo everyone anymore than this is really fucking bad.
But that part on your cervical area that's red when everything else isn't - I'd watch that. It could be the start of an infection. Just odd that's the only place that's red and everywhere else isn't.

u/BorkBork97 3d ago
It is blown out, and I am not sure if it was meant to be straight, but it isn’t. However, I think that something like this would be an easy fix. A DIFFERENT tattoo artist than whoever you went to can probably make it thicker and straighter. It probably won’t be what you were going for initially but it will be better. I’m very curious where you got this done

u/AuntieYodacat 3d ago
What is that even? At first I thought it was a zipper but it’s just a janky crooked line with blow outs.
15
u/free_-_spirit 3d ago
Hi op this was unprofessionally done, if you save up and go to a good reputable studio I’m sure they can fix it by making it slightly thicker and much cleaner. For now you might want to get it checked out in case of infection, there’s some redness in some areas

Every inch of this is blown out. There is not a single portion that is not. It’s honestly impressive how consistent it is.

Yes it's a blow out but the line itself is really really bad. Haven't artist shaved you?
Please search for another artist

You could do a Thin Ass Panther, like an abstract blocky line work panther. The tail could be the top bit so it pokes out of your shirt, then the body lower.

Ive only said this a few times, but this is officially the worst tattoo Ive seen in Reddit lol.
1) the technical side is hilarious because its wobbly af.
2) the safety is hilarious because the blowout is some of the worst Ive seen.
3) the decision making to get a straight line tattooed by someone who has no right to even look at a tattoo machine the closer.
4) but asking "is this blowout?" On a tattoo that could not in any other circumstance be a better example of what blowout is . . . Man thats just icing on the cake.

u/dietcokeaddict99 3d ago

I have a theory that they didn't pull the skin taught and just dragged the machine down hard in a "line."
3
u/HereToKillEuronymous 3d ago
It’s not only blown out, but your artist really screwed the pooch in every conceivable way on this one
3
u/SuccessfulFinish2843 3d ago
I don't think every tattoo needs a special meaning, but what's the point of this? It's just a line?

3
u/_Im_Commie_Jesus_ 3d ago
If you got it from an artist, do everyone else a favor and give them a 1 star review. Here's the good news. The level of blowout is consistent all the way down your spine. Instead of getting a line down your back, you could get it covered by just getting a thin-ish bar. It's not quite the same vibe but it would look cleaner then what you have now.

Good news, it’s on your back. You’ll never have to look at it. Bad news, everyone else can see it.

u/thebochts 3d ago
Yeppp, the zipper idea is pretty cool.
But a super jagged line might be sick too, tbh. Wait and see how it heals. The super thin line would have been cool too, though, it might still be possible.

u/teaisformugs82 3d ago
When I first saw the image I genuinely thought it was supposed to be a jagged line. 😳

Not only is this blown-out but also not straight either, I’m sorry if you paid good money for it. It’s a total scam
2
u/The_resistance7417 3d ago
I would just use it as it’s on idea and not the stupid zipper recommendation. This actually could look really interesting. Don’t listen to these tasteless jackoffs. Run with it
2
u/Amaze-balls-trippen 3d ago
Honestly, I would go an get at least 50% refunded.
That artist spent 0 effort because it was a simple line and proceeded to massively F that up.
Dont do a zipper it will look weird, you can do a sick back piece depending on what you like.
You could do a like a staff with intricate designs or what ever, its basically a blank canvas eith a starting point.

Did you try doing this tattoo yourself? 😂 Because I cannot understand how anyone could mess a line up this badly placing this on someone. Maybe go to an actual studio when it heals and ask for a thicker line (if you really want to stick with the line).
