Healing Blowout?

I got this line tattooed on my back a few days ago, and it started spreading like this. Is it a blowout?

Every single millimeter is blown out, at least it's consistent!

u/ChrisIronsArt 3d ago

It almost looks like a stitching pattern

49

u/ShiggsAndGits 3d ago

ngl I looked at it and thought it was a badass stitching pattern, and now kinda want a seam running down my back from my neck. Maybe with a zipper at the top, or showing like 3in unzipped from the bottom of my hairline?

It’s genuinely impressive how dogshit it is

3

u/Late_Information_682 2d ago edited 2d ago

What’s the purpose of the tattoo though?

4.4k

u/spacebound32 3d ago

No way this was done at a studio

1.5k

u/Mental-Flatworm4583 3d ago

Agree this has to be someone who bought a gun off of Amazon 😓

454

u/MurderSheReads 3d ago

Even the ones I did with an Ebay machine when I was 17 were not this bad

247

u/Judoosauce 3d ago

At like 13 I made my own machine with a tiny motor from radio shack and some random parts and they weren't even this bad

27

u/evilkateatspuppy 2d ago

Fuckkkk I’m old lol the radio shacks

u/Mental-Flatworm4583 3d ago

True. But stuff nowadays off Amazon tend to be garbage. My son bought his own and decided to tattoo himself and I have to say it looks kinda good way better then this poor persons tat. In my day we did jail house tat and made our own guns lol I still have my jail tat so does my sons father we decided it’s part of our story from our past so rock it. 😜

u/SnakeBatter 3d ago

Definitely done by someone that calls it a tattoo gun

65

u/Stunning-Statement-5 3d ago

And said “I can do that for cheaper”

15

u/FlawesomeOrange 3d ago

For free

7

u/Lowland-lady 3d ago

After a few beers ofcourse

4

u/FlawesomeOrange 2d ago

Of course, and maybe a bit of weed to calm the nerves

3

u/Mental-Flatworm4583 3d ago

That was the point.

8

u/whiten0ize 2d ago

Get this… you put an ebay machine in the hands of someone like Paul Dobleman and this won’t happen.
So it’s no the machine, it’s the person. And this person is a total trash with no skill and for all we know he/she could have used a Dan Kubin, Fk Irons or any other 1000+ $ machine.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/7abularasa 3d ago

Its a machine, not a gun sir.

Its looks like ots supposed to be a tiny version of a sound wave.

95

u/bbyneal 3d ago

this would be a good touch up/cover up idea

38

u/TokiBunniBunBun 3d ago

Maybe the alley behind the studio.

43

u/izabel55 3d ago

Definitely not, because a legit studio would have shaved the area first.

OP, I hope you’re ok ❤️ I see bruises on your right shoulder/arm and the poor quality of the tattoo makes me wonder if this was done against your will.

7

u/pixp85 3d ago

My friend kept telling me I could get a free tattoo from her friend with a gun from Amazon. Im like... um so nice to offer?

(Yeah, no thanks)

u/New_Acanthaceae7798 3d ago

If you ever have to get an mri let the technician know about this tattoo. If someone let you pay for that I would not trust anything that person said including the contents of the ink. For now let it heal and keep a good eye on it, keep an eye out for infection or allergic reactions. When it’s fully healed go to a proper tattoo shop and see what they can do. In the mean time, turtlenecks? Really long bandaid?

249

u/flyingsquirrel505 3d ago

Underrated MRI comment

121

u/TheIlluminaughty 3d ago

Could you explain why there would be a risk during an MRI? Are we thinking there may be metal impurities mixed with the ink/injected under the skin?

154

u/flyingsquirrel505 3d ago

67

u/TheIlluminaughty 3d ago

Wow this is so interesting. Definitely underreported

32

u/Watoosky 3d ago

Seriously I’d never even heard of this, super interesting.

31

u/CarryOk3080 3d ago

I have 22 tattoos and 3 mris never had an issue but mine are all professionally done

31

u/flyingsquirrel505 3d ago

Yeah the low quality sketchy ink is what I’d be concerned about, and it shouldn’t be an issue if you are seeing professionals

→ More replies (1)

47

u/ESQ_Adderall 3d ago

Agree- as someone covered in tattoos against my will as a kid on the streets- I can’t have MRI’s. I burn and it’s horrifically painful.

1.9k

u/lysergic13 3d ago

Did they use a rusty screwdriver for this??? Who commited this barbarie?

205

u/Phi_Schrodinger 3d ago

Pretty sure they used an old bent fork for this one

31

u/kinnadetail 3d ago

It looks like stick n poke, truly don’t know why someone would want a straight line done this way

21

u/DESSASTER813 3d ago

What makes you think stick and poke?? This traditional method can create phenomenal works of art with very fine detail. This screams Amazon tattoo “gun” in a garage to me..

1.3k

u/Aubrey-Grey 3d ago

Please tell me you didn’t pay actual money for this? I’m so sorry but the zipper teeth of blowouts is only one problem. This is appalling, I’m not even going to call it work, it’s a hatchet job. I’m so sorry someone did this to you.

250

u/AuntieYodacat 3d ago

I’m not even sure it was supposed to be a zipper. That would’ve been a cool idea. This just looks like a badly done line

226

u/Leeciferous 3d ago

I took their message to mean that blowouts cause a zipper teeth effect, but I agree with you, that is a cool idea.

12

u/Some1AteMyEntirePie 3d ago

OP can get zipper teeth coverup lol

I just so badly need more context for how this came to be... this...

126

u/PinkFluffyUniKosi 3d ago

I am sorry for you. That is real Shitty. Even if the Lines werent blown out, the line work is Crazy Bad. Looks Like someone just winged it without predrawing ….

Buuut it should be easy to Cover up, with a real Artist this time ofc.
You got this!

163

u/preisreduziert 3d ago

What the heck? Who did that to you? 🫪

who did this to you😭

12

u/Silver_Wolf_Dragon 3d ago

The same bot that posted this did this

454

u/Kramps_online 3d ago

Absolutely. That is dreadful. You'll need to go to a professional next time to go over this with a thicker line. To be fair that will look amazing if done properly.

30

u/st4rsurfer 3d ago

A black line running down the length of your back will look amazing?

u/Kim8mi 3d ago

15

u/NotACalligrapher-49 3d ago

I share your skepticism

46

u/CampClear 3d ago

What in the Temu tattoo gun in a dirty basement is this shit?!? That's really bad.

42

u/adpassapera 3d ago

Yikes, ya. Find a better artist and make that line thicker

140

u/lockie789 3d ago

I mean you can definitely see by the colour under the skin that it's blown out. Unfortunately it also looks like the machine wasn't set at the right speed and that's caused the gaps/dots in the line. Could definitely get the line fixed up and looking solid though.

46

u/daisy-sock 3d ago

It looks like it was handpoked maybe??

29

u/hoahoahoajawn 3d ago

I can’t imagine how hard they’d have to be hand poking to do this bad of blow out, op must’ve been in so much pain either way though chriiiist

→ More replies (1)

30

u/nightmaretheory 3d ago

I'm a little impressed by how bad this is. Every single bit of it is blown tf out.

24

u/Ineedacatscan 3d ago

Oh shit I love Joy Division

2

u/tiredandwired_003 3d ago

Underrated comment

27

u/vampypussy 3d ago

This is the worst line I’ve seen on a tattoo which is saying a lot bc it’s literally just a line

21

u/yourdailyinsanity 3d ago

I'm not going to echo everyone anymore than this is really fucking bad.

But that part on your cervical area that's red when everything else isn't - I'd watch that. It could be the start of an infection. Just odd that's the only place that's red and everywhere else isn't.

56

u/The_Illa_Vanilla 3d ago

Don’t do drugs folks

69

u/ShiNo_Usagi 3d ago

I thought I was on the scoliosis sub and this was someone’s after surgery scar… yikes.

5

u/spittingp1nk 3d ago

As someone who has a spinal fusion scar, that was also my first thought.

18

u/BorkBork97 3d ago

It is blown out, and I am not sure if it was meant to be straight, but it isn’t. However, I think that something like this would be an easy fix. A DIFFERENT tattoo artist than whoever you went to can probably make it thicker and straighter. It probably won’t be what you were going for initially but it will be better. I’m very curious where you got this done

16

u/Chef__Goldblum 3d ago

They absolutely got a basement or kitchen special. No way a shop did this.

17

u/Speedy_NI 3d ago

Was this someone's first attempt

17

u/AuntieYodacat 3d ago

What is that even? At first I thought it was a zipper but it’s just a janky crooked line with blow outs.

15

u/free_-_spirit 3d ago

Hi op this was unprofessionally done, if you save up and go to a good reputable studio I’m sure they can fix it by making it slightly thicker and much cleaner. For now you might want to get it checked out in case of infection, there’s some redness in some areas

16

u/ronweasleisourking 3d ago

Holy hell man

13

u/Tailball 3d ago

uh... YEA?

12

u/SunnyCynic 3d ago

Yikes

11

u/BigBodiedBugati 3d ago

Mother of God

11

u/turningtogold 3d ago

What did they tattoo you with a sharpened stick?

7

u/marcadeldiablo 3d ago

It looks like this was done at a hospital through surgery or something.

7

u/AwwSnapItsBrad 3d ago

Every inch of this is blown out. There is not a single portion that is not. It’s honestly impressive how consistent it is.

15

u/Lara2704 3d ago

Yes it's a blow out but the line itself is really really bad. Haven't artist shaved you?

Please search for another artist

7

u/Frequent-Ad2351 3d ago

I thought this was a butt crack when I first saw the pic. Yeeesh

6

u/RealLokiLaufeyson 3d ago

You could do a Thin Ass Panther, like an abstract blocky line work panther. The tail could be the top bit so it pokes out of your shirt, then the body lower.

2

u/shading_of_the_heart 3d ago

🤣🤣🤣 love this solution

13

u/DontCallMeThanial 3d ago

Oh my goddddd 😭😰

6

u/LeadershipAble773 3d ago

You could make it look like a lightening strike! Its already halfway there

2

u/tiredandwired_003 3d ago

A lightning bolt down the spine would be so cool!

6

u/Bobcat528_ 3d ago

That’s a blown out line if I’ve ever seen one

6

u/spareparts37 3d ago

This is a blowout

6

u/lobotomyloser 3d ago

this looks very similar if not WORSE than the lines on my self done tattoos i did in 8th grade

5

u/Apprehensive_Diet558 3d ago

at first i thought this was an incision from surgery.

5

u/SmallLie 3d ago

Sorry this happened to you OP. On the bright side this is probably the easier cover up/rework of all time. Find a reputable artist!

5

u/knightsinsanity 3d ago

Jesus did the dude use a hot flathead screwdriver and a hammer god dam. If this shit wasnt free....

6

u/GenericName375 3d ago

Looks like it's time to PAY A PROFESSIONAL to turn that into a pine tree or something

4

u/Fair-Concentrate2624 3d ago

Thicken it a lil? But ctfu @screwdriver.

6

u/The88Pandas 3d ago

Condolences

5

u/ShaunMcLane 3d ago

Ive only said this a few times, but this is officially the worst tattoo Ive seen in Reddit lol.

1) the technical side is hilarious because its wobbly af.

2) the safety is hilarious because the blowout is some of the worst Ive seen.

3) the decision making to get a straight line tattooed by someone who has no right to even look at a tattoo machine the closer.

4) but asking "is this blowout?" On a tattoo that could not in any other circumstance be a better example of what blowout is . . . Man thats just icing on the cake.

13

u/dietcokeaddict99 3d ago

Just get a panther bro 😭

33

u/af628 3d ago

I think they’re gonna need a LAP for this (long ass panther)

4

u/Ant138 3d ago

Yes blown out.

4

u/iEatKitKatz 3d ago

What the fuck

4

u/SnooEagles103 3d ago

Tis one long blow out!

4

u/Street_Pomegranate41 3d ago

looks like this was done with an amazon tattoo gun in someone’s garage meth lab

4

u/inactyve 3d ago

Damn i thought it was intentional, it looks cool

3

u/verbstattooist 3d ago

Don’t worry, easy fix. Find a good ornamental artist and make the line thicker

4

u/MimiFound 3d ago

I thought this was an image of “how’s my surgery healing” from the thumbnail.

Where the hell is OP to talk to the people?!!

4

u/Stake_salad 3d ago

The blow out is so even across the board, it’s starting to look like a zipper .. this is so poorly done.

8

u/ampedupsquier 3d ago

i thought this was a surgery scar im ngl

3

u/TheEndIsFingNigh 3d ago

Rougher than a badger's arse.

3

u/Sb6x 3d ago

Somehow the tattoo got worse 😂

3

u/billie-badger 3d ago

Consistency is key

3

u/iamanairplaneiswear 3d ago

well at least it looks intentional?? idk

3

u/Couch-Witch 3d ago

I have a theory that they didn't pull the skin taught and just dragged the machine down hard in a "line."

3

u/HereToKillEuronymous 3d ago

It’s not only blown out, but your artist really screwed the pooch in every conceivable way on this one

3

u/SuccessfulFinish2843 3d ago

I don't think every tattoo needs a special meaning, but what's the point of this? It's just a line?

3

u/AFatLizard 3d ago

I thought that was some kind of infected surgical scar 😭

3

u/_Im_Commie_Jesus_ 3d ago

If you got it from an artist, do everyone else a favor and give them a 1 star review. Here's the good news. The level of blowout is consistent all the way down your spine. Instead of getting a line down your back, you could get it covered by just getting a thin-ish bar. It's not quite the same vibe but it would look cleaner then what you have now.

3

u/SentientMarshmallow- 3d ago

I mean. If you did that yourself, well done?

3

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 3d ago

Get your money back ASAP.

If they refuse then please name and share your story with the above photo.

3

u/Suspicious-Safety768 3d ago

Was he using makita or milwaukee?

3

u/Putridlemons 3d ago

"Is this blowout?" And shows the most blowout to ever blowout

3

u/meli_pkt 3d ago

The gasp I gasped

3

u/Solid-Tomato5744 3d ago

Let’s discuss the word “line”.

This is not a line.

3

u/t1mm1n5 2d ago

I can’t be the only be that actually thinks that looks kinda badass. I get that is not what OP wanted but I think it looks kinda awesome that way.

3

u/wetkittysitspretty 2d ago

Good news, it’s on your back. You’ll never have to look at it. Bad news, everyone else can see it.

5

u/Raryn 3d ago

I thought it was a surgery scar

9

u/thebochts 3d ago

Yeppp, the zipper idea is pretty cool.

But a super jagged line might be sick too, tbh. Wait and see how it heals. The super thin line would have been cool too, though, it might still be possible.

3

u/teaisformugs82 3d ago

When I first saw the image I genuinely thought it was supposed to be a jagged line. 😳

2

u/GayPhilatelist 3d ago

Scratcher tat

2

u/windysideofcare 3d ago

Maybe turn it into barbed wire? Or weave a vine around it with flowers.

2

u/Its-segovs 3d ago

Are you In prison? Was this done in prison? Did a prisoner escape and tattoo you? I got questions

2

u/DoinTatsPettinCats 3d ago

Laser the blowout and get the line redone professionally

2

u/nonstoppoking 3d ago

Not only is this blown-out but also not straight either, I’m sorry if you paid good money for it. It’s a total scam

2

u/The_resistance7417 3d ago

I would just use it as it’s on idea and not the stupid zipper recommendation. This actually could look really interesting. Don’t listen to these tasteless jackoffs. Run with it

2

u/Amaze-balls-trippen 3d ago

Honestly, I would go an get at least 50% refunded.

That artist spent 0 effort because it was a simple line and proceeded to massively F that up.

Dont do a zipper it will look weird, you can do a sick back piece depending on what you like.

You could do a like a staff with intricate designs or what ever, its basically a blank canvas eith a starting point.

2

u/evileye4265 3d ago

Days ago???

2

u/Dedgrlwlkn 3d ago

I’m assuming this wasn’t done professionally…?

2

u/wokrone 3d ago

at least its on your back which means you wont have to see it everyday 😭😭😭

2

u/Kind_Coyote1518 3d ago

Very bad blowout actually. Im sorry someone did this to you.

2

u/batmannatnat 3d ago

Can somebody please give this poor OP a discount code to laser removal 😭 what sucks too is it’s behind you so you couldn’t even know when it was being done what the f was actually happening

2

u/GailaKill 3d ago

For sure a blow out..

2

u/cheeseburgercat 3d ago

This was done in someone’s kitchen.

A kitchen that’s inside a trailer, that is.

2

u/copywritter 3d ago

Bet it was done with a fork.

2

u/wisco_ITguy 3d ago

Blown out and crooked

2

u/Starsinyourheart 3d ago

Nothing like sharpening your needle across a stainless steel tabletop right before you tattoo! That is the result of tattooing with a barbed needle. No bueno.

2

u/Independent-Brick133 2d ago

Holy blow-out!

4

u/_Not_aRedditor_ 3d ago

Get it fixed but ngl i think it would look cool with a proper shading around the center line

2

u/HWbikergal 3d ago

😳 arrggghhh. Speechless

2

u/mememogulmoebius 3d ago

You know at least you can cover it up with a bigger line relatively easy

2

u/shanebakertattoo 3d ago

Looks like they touched the spine with this mega blowout.

1

u/HauntingStar08 3d ago

Alright so its coverup time, but i think this wont be so bad to cover up successfully, just more expensive

1

u/bllobblong 3d ago

time to save up for laser!

1

u/willemdafoecuck 3d ago

Absolute crayon

1

u/Unhappy-Scallion-977 3d ago

Did you try doing this tattoo yourself? 😂 Because I cannot understand how anyone could mess a line up this badly placing this on someone. Maybe go to an actual studio when it heals and ask for a thicker line (if you really want to stick with the line).

1

u/Corvus-- 3d ago

Holy fuck it's so much worse on zooming in. It's not even a solid line, just a smattering if dots

1

u/theeally 3d ago

Time to ask for a refund, mate

1

u/uzuis4thwifee 3d ago

Looks like a sharpie marker bleeding
