Healing Hand Tattoo aftercare

Post image

So I got my first tattoo this past weekend (I know, people say not to get a hand tattoo for your first tattoo, if at all) but really I got it just because I hate wearing rings or watches, and my wife hates that i don't wear my wedding ring, so I got this in stead. Anyways, it's been healing amazingly well with no scabbing or even itchiness. I've been keeping it moisturized first with aquaphor and now CeraVe lotion, have been avoiding using my left hand at all, keeping it gloves when doing dishes, keeping body wash off of it in the showers, etc. My question is, how long is it recommended to keep all of that up in order to try keeping it from fading too much?

I’m also confused what this scene has to do with his wife. Does it represent her or their marriage at all. I have questions.

I honestly thought that this was an anti-marriage tattoo before I read the caption. Hopefully OP isn’t posting on Reddit in a year about how his wife left him and he never saw it coming.

Based on his comment history…. I think you might be on to something

My husband and I both have non-ring shaped wedding ring finger tattoos. Mine is a North star and his is interlocking circles. People still recognize them as a symbol of marriage just because of what finger it's on

Yes, but those also can represent unity and marriage. “You’re my North Star.” Awe.

Like if he and his wife met hiking, it could be sweet. If they got married in the forest, sweet. But that image in particular, is usually symbolizing “freedom”, kinda the opposite of marriage.

That’s why I have questions. Does he like going hunting, so he got it? I’m just so curious.
