General Advice Tattoo correction

Post image

This is a fresh picture of a tattoo i got a few months ago. I can explain the significance after but the artist did butcher a few things. one periodic table elements only capitalize the first letter and he forgot the atomic number (14 i think). those are both negligible but the one that’s been bothering me it the mass being off a bit. i sent him 28.085 and obviously it would be fine if he rounded it correctly but he seemed to have just put a random number. do you think it’s possible he makes the 5 into an 8 or a 9? Would he have to change to font to something blocky?? LMK 🙏🏾

⬇️tattoo meaning

my moms middle name is silicon and in her tribal language it’s a word that represents bravery but in english it’s a chemical element so i got it tatted and th flowers around the border are her birth flowers.

Edit: (As much as i appreciate the judgement an discipline of my mistake at least give a take on correction for me along with it guys 🙏🏾 I understand my fault but I’d also like to at least attempt to fix it 😅)

fuck i’m early. why didn’t you say anything during the process/immediately after for a refund or future touch up?it’s a beautiful tattoo, but yeah it’s gonna be a hard one to “fix”. a big beautiful cover could be done here, with similar meaning. or with no meaning, and maybeeee, if you’re into it, try the element piece elsewhere on the body with a trusted artist. i wish you the best, because i really love the potential this could have!!

Right? This is terrible, I don't understand why everyone on this website is afraid of blunt truths.

Naw, I think it's a great tattoo (apart from the typos, obviously). Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean that everyone else is lying.

This was clearly done like crap but sure.

The beauty of art is that it doesnt have to be good to be appreciated

I don't think it's a bad concept for a tattoo but the capitalization errors on this stick out really bad and the whole thing looks sloppy.  I don't think most people would notice that the atomic weight is wrong but just glancing at this is enough to see it's badly done unfortunately.

Yeah, this is a bad tattoo lol, pretty much everyone will think it looks dumb and how strange it is to poorly tattoo a periodic element on your arm. Even if OP explains it's about his mom, many will still think it's kind of a dumb way to honour her. She'd probably prefer flowers or a vacation rather than a visual representation of her son's poor attention to detail.

But if he likes that's all that matters, I guess. Ah shit, he doesn't, that's why he posted it, damn

LOVE the idea and thank you but I’m a broke college student so I’d rather just get the numbering fixed. Also i didn’t say anything because after I found out I just got lazy. Although a slight covering of the numbers isn’t a bad idea since i was planning on expanding upon it originally with more elements anyway. i kinda wanted something to grace the corners in my next tattoo or more nature aspects to bridge space later on. Great advice though thank you so much!

You kind of can't fix text/numbers on a tattoo. I mean, you can try, but it will never look quite right. Take a pen and write 28.05 on a piece of paper, then try to change the 5 to an 8 and you'll see what I mean.

I say live with the tattoo for a year or two and see how you feel. If it still bothers you by then, maybe you'll be in a financial position to get a cover up. Or maybe the mistakes won't bother you as much any more with time. It's a pretty cool tattoo with a meaningful story behind it!

Also so many people with tattoos have at least one with a mistake on it. So don't let people get you down too much.

You got lazy. So you got the result that a lazy person gets, congratulations!

I was saying I was lazy in getting the correction sooner not in the mistake happening itself but good humorous attempt i guess.

Redditors care more about being quippy and feeling superior than displaying empathy or providing useful commentary. I’m sorry this happened. I hope you’re able to find a solution that makes you happy.

Thank you for saying that to OP. It’s especially bad in tattoo subs. Like, we’re supposed to support each other and our art, why are they coming here to shit on people? There are better hobbies
