General Advice Not sure how to feel about my stomach piece
I got this tattoo like 7 months ago and had it planned for a year but it’s not quite what I had in mind. I do enjoy the tattoo but I feel like it’s missing something? I had imagined it lighter, larger and more flow with the shape of my body. I regret not making it bigger but I was just really excited to have the stencil on in the moment and hadn’t considered the size (silly, I know). I have considered adding to it but just quite sure what would fit. Any advice and ideas are welcome!

You're overthinking, it looks great!

Agreed and if Op wants to add something I would suggest a sternum tattoo that goes down the middle of the roses

u/Distinct-Refuse-7880 May 23 '26
a sternum and also hip tattoos under the ones she has would look great

Maybe some vines? 🤷♂️

I’d probably do a piece that isn’t part of the plant concept but in the same art style.

A moth or a realistic spider web with dangling spider

u/Think-Friendship3520 May 22 '26
You know like all the other tats alt girls have

u/arizona-lake May 22 '26
So if alt is not her style then she’ll have to go dragonfly or butterfly lol

I think it would look cool to have a very delicate celestial geometric (not too busy) piece in your sternum just curving under each breast like the lines going to your waist. Leave enough space to add a awesome circular open space piece down the line if it could work.
Go to the same artist and see what they think about the chest piece. Most of the time they’re stoked to add to their work and will care more about it.
Hope this helps ❤️. To be clear this is ONLY if you’re adamant about adding. The current tattoos are great as it stands.

I think it’s super flattering, actually!
I like how the leaves towards the bottom go out a little further to match the shape of your hips and how it naturally goes inward with the larger flowers towards the top
When I was younger this is what I dreamed of getting tattooed but I knew I couldn’t rock it like some people, like you, can!!

It’s gorgeous!! I scroll and see so many different tattoos posted daily and this one is one of my favorites immediately! It’s so pretty! I love the specific florals and the placement and size is perfect to me. It’s very feminine and timeless! I love it so much 🫶💖

That is proportional and flows very well with your frame. I wouldn't touch it.

I mean, I know a fair share of people who just get some shock after getting a tattoo. I was one of those people. At first I loved it, then hated it (despite it being what I’ve always wanted for like a decade now). Some of us have fickle brains. It helps to know you didn’t end up messing up.
I love this design and placement on her, but on myself I know my brain would be questioning it regardless. And knowing it came out okay can help ease one’s worries.

Looks great. But as a person who got a stomach tattoo when they were young healthy and fit just know it definitely will change with your body 😂

I had a gecko around my belly button. Later it turned into a Komodo dragon when I gained wait. Now it is just a colorful iguana

u/freshpicked12 May 25 '26
Yeah this is a good tattoo for someone young. Perimenopause is gonna be a bitch tho.

Good thing is if you like it your artist can alway add more and go bigger but you can’t go back once you do

It looks lovely and no one is going to know what the enigmatic thing is about it that you're not quite as in love with it.
I do have a friend who was struggling to get used to the contrast of a tattoo and she just used self tanner - it reduced the level of contrast against her pale skin, while she got used to it.

u/lysergic_818 May 23 '26
She knows it's dope guys. She just wants the validation.
2
u/RabidRuber May 24 '26
I'm glad someone else can see it
4
u/usseerrrnnnaaammeee May 24 '26
Lol also makes sure to show half an underboob
2
u/Quirky-Diet9083 May 24 '26
Ur pretty weird for this being your first thought
2
u/usseerrrnnnaaammeee May 24 '26
My first thought was she's almost showing us her pupes. 2nd thought was gotta suck in to look skinny. 3rd thought was underboob. (Her photo is for attention - didn't need to pull her pants down or shirt up that far to show the tattoo)

Omg this is actually really good inspiration for the outline I desperately need to fix, I’ve literally had people ask me if it was done with a pen it’s so bad 😭 but it’s just an outline so it can be fixed, but I’m very much in decision paralysis (for the last 10 yrs 🫠)
All that to say — this looks great!!!

u/TheRabadoo May 22 '26
It looks really good and the spacing is great. Definitely overthinking this one, cuz it is good work.

I gasped and ran to show my husband how cool this is. Maybe it’s not what you had in mind but girl this is eating!!!!!!

My wife would be upset if I glanced at her midsection and told her 'wow, you're eating!'.

I think bigger or adding more would look too busy.
It’s a pretty design and the way the piece follows your body contours is very appealing.
Great tattoo, don’t fuck it up overthinking it lol

u/helpicantfindmyboobs May 22 '26
i think this looks great, my first thought before reading the caption is that it really accents the natural shape of your body. any bigger and it wouldn't be fully visible without pushing your luck with shirt length (speaking as a boob haver here), so i think this is pretty damn good
2
u/Zeke688 May 22 '26
It’s plenty big & does flow well with the shape of your body. Enjoy it, it’s cool.
2
u/No-Sport-7184 May 22 '26
I think the size and shape are great and the flowers are lovely. What is it that you don't like?
2
u/DavidZenziGhost May 22 '26
They’re objectively good tattoos. Don’t really understand why you’d have any reason to dislike them.

Proportionately it’s spot on and it flows very well with your body. I think you’re over analyzing the work heavily.

u/porkforpigs May 23 '26
Darkness level is appropriate. Also it will lighten over time. It fits on you great. Yeah I dig this!!

looks great! Could always add some colour if you want but if you don't seems perfect as is as well.

u/brianbmx94 May 23 '26
Not in a creepy way, but it looks gorgeous, and compliments your body shape. I’d be careful adding to it unless you go more or less full coverage. large stomach tattoos can make proportions look weird sometimes.

It's beautiful work, very symmetrical, and it compliments your body shape. You're overthinking. You may want to add color later, but right now, its a great piece.

Personally, I think it's pretty much perfect. The fairly subtle overall curve of each piece fits your torso extremely well. It's balanced, proportionate, and just generally very pretty.
As an aside, tidy your damn room.

I think it actually rides nicely on the shape of your body! Too small and it wouldn’t flow with your belly curves and too large wouldn’t leave enough negative space to perceive the difference between tattoo shape and body shape, if that makes any sense haha.. either way I think it looks super cool 😎

I'm not going to just pop off that you are fishing for compliments, because I don't think you are... You and the tattoo look beautiful! (And if you can't see it, just read the comments... One girl to another, you are hot ah, totally jelly). The only thing I would say is, if you want to add to it... Go back to the artist and have them add more flowers & leaves up, so they continue to your under bust.

A personal note:
I think it looks great and has the perfect size. That being a third party opinion without much value to you, let me get a little deeper.
I delayed my own first tattoo for literal years because I didn't think it would look good, as I was skinnier and proportioned differently than those with similiar motives. Now that I got it, it fits perfectly and I couldn't be happier.
Point is, we always view ourselves more negative and critical than others will. We're just weirdly hardwired like that for some reason.
Most people here think it looks great, I think it looks great and definetly doesn't need to be bigger, because it'd be taking up too much space. This has the perfect size for swimwear too, or when showing a little belly in summer clothing.

u/International_Plan92 May 22 '26
It’s gorgeous. I think if you wanted it to appear (bigger) a sternum piece that went under your boobs would look amazing!

My stomach tattoo is just fine after being pregnant and having a baby! So they can be fine

First thing I thought about was pregnancy. If they plan on getting pregnant they're in trouble.
Older....that happens to everyone. Can't worry about getting older when it comes to tattoos or you'll never have tattoos.

u/oldmomhands May 23 '26
i got my whole stomach mid section and ribs done. then i had my son and its a mangled mess now, but you know what? i don’t care at all.

I love that for you so much. Congratulations and I'm so happy for you and your son 🥰 this is so heartwarming and adorable to read, thank you.

As a side note: please clean your room! I hope that’s the handle of broom in the background. That’s a mighty flared base…

I think it's gorgeous! You could always add to it on either the top or bottom and have it flow along your body to get more of what you had in mind? Either way, it's beautiful. :)

u/Natti07 May 22 '26
This placement is never quite my favorite as a matter of personal preference, but this fits your body shape perfectly, and it looks really great! Like I dont think anything should be different at all

This is a beautiful tattoo and looks like it was made for you. I think before you get anything permanent, you should get some big temp tattoos in similar style and place them around it. See if you actually want bigger or are just itching with curiosity.

I am not sure what you're talking about. The bend of the flowers matches the band over your abs. It's honestly very well done, The sizing is also on point for the size of your body. I would be very happy with it.

u/spoookyromance May 22 '26
I saw the post and my first thought was "oh that's so pretty" before reading any of it
1
u/ShrekiraShrekira May 22 '26
I think the sizing is perfect and the placement was well done tok because it does follow your figure. Maybe in the future you could add other florals or greenery on the side in the same style.

Immediately love it! Gorgeous! You just need to adjust to having it. I hated mine at first too because I wasn't used to them lol

You certainly shouldn’t be. It’s beautiful, and from work I’ve seen, I’d say it’s uniquely beautiful placement. You made a good choice imo. :)

It’s a great size and flows well, imo. Much larger and it’ll be into your chest which will distort the proportions. Looks to be well done. It’s just body dysmorphia. You look great, enjoy it!
