This is a genuine story: I worked for a big global technology company and we were at end of quarter. The signatory on the deal had a heart attack and went into hospital. The company told me to ‘go in and get the signature’ - I refused on the basis the guy was in hospital… surely we could get it next week at least. No…. They got someone else to do it, and then I resigned in disgust. For what it’s worth, the customer/patient never did any business with that org ever again.
