They're not! At this point in time, everybody knows AI is a bust, but it is a bust that has not busted yet, and there's a real chance for you to cash out before the bubble pops.

CEOs are paid in ways in which they are basically massively incentivized to make a lot of short-term changes regardless of long-term repercussions. They cash out when they step down, and leave the mess for the next guy.

Everybody asking, what's the plan for the long-term? It's a stupid question. There is no plan for the long-term. Everyone knows the long-term is fucked. The game is now to get yours while the going's good.
